Carried a colt .380 govt model for over 20 years and it was a great carry gun ! Used a number of times and never felt underguned ! Was very dependable! Passed it on to my step daughter and she has had to use it twice! With great results❤ ! Training and carrying the right tool for the job! God bless and stay safe!
Love my Defender in 9mm. Fantastic trigger and shootability. It hasn't been ammunition sensitive either. Would love to see Colt make it in a double stack version.
Please don't stay away so long, I get a little worried. Went to the range today with a Springfield Range Officer 9, a Dan Wesson Pointman 9, a Magnum Research DE1911G 45 and a Ruger SR1911 10mm. I am afraid to calculate the replacement cost of the expended ammo. But, for me, there is no better way to enjoy a beautiful day. Happy New Year!
I've been in lockdown for so long that I've had to develop a multiple personality disorder so that I'd have someone to talk to. Hopefully, 2021 will be a better year.
I have one in good Ol' .45 acp & it is in my constant EDC carry rotation. I love LOK grips, have a set on my CZ 75 P-01 compact, but on my Defender I put a beautiful set of Houge wrap around finger groove Kingwood grips on it. Same as the Houge rubber wrap around that came on the pistol, I just love wrapping my hands around wood rather than rubber or plastic,.. & did I mention they're beautiful !!!
I used to have the same gun, only made by Sig (Ultra). Dead reliable, super accurate, and even limp wristing wouldnt cause a malfunction. Whats not to like?
Another great video / great music - I'm not a tactical guy i train the assassin ways meaning a bullet in that single stack magazine is stopping the attacker for good - To the master of weapons keep up the good videos i love them peace out peace ☮️☮️
Last year I built a 1911 sub compact using an officer frame with commander slide hand fit. When I do a ground up build I like Caspian slides and frames. I intentionally used an Evolution Gun Works match spur hammer/ignition and GI grip safety. Looks good, carries well and shoots great. I stuck with .45 ACP however.
Until I retired, my daily carry gun was my Smith and Wesson CS-40D Chief's Special in 40 S&W which was similar in size, stainless and aluminum, and very quick to deploy. Over the Colt, it has the advantage of not requiring a beaver tail which impress your ribs painfully. Finally, the Smith cost half as much.
Yes, but the CS40D is not a revolver although the title, "Chief's Special" had been and remains tied to the model 36, J frame. That title, not unlike "Military and Police," was applied briefly to sub-compact version of their third generation large frame semiautomatic pistol. Mine was chambered in 40 S&W and had a 3.25 inch barrel and 7 round stainless magazines.
Pretty sure he did one on that vbob...thats why i bought one.I prolly should not watch this video. These things tend to follow me home. Thanks for the video.
Impressive 9mm i ‘m considering this one to be my #1 choice . I thought i’d like the kimber nightfall until i actually handled it. It is way to small fir my hands . How would the colt compare to it in size
I'm personally super interested in those little Defender models. I've heard a lot of talk about the tiny 1911s not being as reliable, even from Bill Wilson! Have you found yours to be?
I would never consider a 9 for a carry gun,but with modern cartridges like Underwood that can approach 500 ft lbs it is pretty strong. That husky piece could take those beefy ones.
Odd question for you Icarryone. Would you happen to know anyone who makes a ramped threaded barrel for the 3" 1911 9mm? My form 4 shusher just came through and I got this crazy idea of trying to put it on my S&W version of this.
I've been curious about them. I'd have to send one off to have it customized, though, since I can't stand those novak sights. Having to buy a whole new slide just so I can get the Yost "retro" sights installed would be a huge cost incursion, but well worth it. Ted's a great smith and well worth dealing with. Just gotta find a 9mm Defender for a decent price!
I really like the size, a Goldilocks in size, not too small and not too big,, just right. It looks like the same footprint as my Para Ordinance P12, except the P12 grip is a bit thicker holding 12+1 45acp.
I must have watched this video 50 times and then went to go buy one....and got distracted by a S&W Scandium Frame Pro Series 1911 that followed me home. Either way there's just something about a lightweight, 3" barrel, 9mm, 1911 that feels right for concealed carry. It's that right blend of carryability and shootability. Hope to see you on Trump's new social media site when it launches.
This damn snow n ice keeps hangin ol glory and my pow flag on the edge of the roof…I have to instantly fix em when there not perfect…love and respect for you guys is the key here.
Tacticool bros don’t seem to understand how little time it takes to change a mag. I tend to favor lower capacity mags with more frequent changes. Like 20 round ar mags for instance. Thanks for the video👍🇺🇸
17 rds fired by a single defender is the most anyone has ever used in an Active Self Protection video... So, yea, 17 is likely enough. But... Nobody has even performed a mag change either in one of their videos. Personally, anything 8 or 9+ feels like enough.

Excellent. Direct, honest and complete

I know I didn’t do anything wrong, but I got so happy watching you present these that I feel kinda dirty.
That happens.
LOL!
The Colt name just reminds me of the old West.. Got to love it

Man them grips on that colt is killling it cheers 🍻 my friend

Man your colt defender looks beautiful. I have one of the newer ones in the jungle green finish but I’m jealous of the stainless look on yours!
Thanks 👍

Me too.
What's your opinion on 10mm 2011's?
Rock Island is quite affordable vs most of the others
RIA 1911's are a good value. The ones I've had experience with all shot well.
@@Icarryone Thanks for the reply. Specifically was asking about 2011's, double stacks in 10mm. Have you had any experience with the Ultra FS HC 10MM?

Tell us more about that Dan Wesson Valor!
Will do.
Haven't seen you post in awhile. Glad you're back at it. Dan Wesson review, Please.
I took a little vacation over hunting season - and yes, the Dan Wesson is on the review list.
I would like to see a review on any Dan Wesson.
Will do.
I second that!!!
Love my Dan Wesson TCP in .45

I owned a Kimber micro 9 for a short time - absolutely hated it. The Colt is a bit bigger and fits my larger hands much better.
Great Video
My 45 Defender Talo edition has been 100% reliable with all types of ammo
👍🤠

My pleasure, thanks.
Love your content, but have not seen anything new pop up until now and I am six months behind! :)
Welcome back!
Will it accept a full size 9MM 1911 mag?
Yes indeed. I use full size mags for range work all the time.

If a Glock is your choice - that's fine. Nothing wrong with Glocks.
I like it....
Yeah buddy!
I wonder how many rounds are actually fired in most self defense situations? If eight is not enough you are in deep shit.
I've often heard that the average gunfight lasts three to five shots. (Total)
Great review!I prefer my 1911’s in .45
Fair enough!
Same here 45
I've been trying to get my hands on one of these for a while, but finding one right now is a son of a bitch.
Yeah, a little hard to find right now.
Colt defender vs colt mustang ?
I'll go with the Defender every time.

BEAUTYFULL, even we can not own them in Greece due to idiotic gun banning laws!!! THANK YOU! Very informative though!
