Thank you bosky for having me over at Motorex Oil change centre to do this chat. This ride changed the whole experience of touring on a lighter, faster and nimble bike. The confidence has gone up several notches higher. Hoping to do many more tours together .
I had the 310 GS for about 4 years & rode around 40k off kms. Changed now to the 390 adv. Recently did a long ride for 1000 kms with 2 1250 gsa's . I could never have imagined myself with the 310 riding alongside the bigger bikes. 310 - plush ride but really slow. Passive ride characteristic. 390 - Very active riding + feedback is great. Push hard and the bike rewards you like no other. 390 vs 310 are 2 very very different bikes meant for different riders. Nice video. Cheers to all & happy riding.
ok OK *OK!!!* It's a great bike. I get that.! ;) I love all bikes and have had many different types, but when I bought my first Harley I thought, "this is it, my love!" I will grow old and be burried with this bike. Then I bought a 390 and oh wow! Now, I _still_ love my Harley. It's the nicest bike I ever had, but the KTM 390 Adventure is so fun! My Harley is sitting in the garage more and more. I still do all my long trips on the comfortable Harley, but everything else seems to be more and more KTM. Thanks for the vid, S
@@bigbearbangalore Oh yes. Each one is special in its own way. The controls are different though. That usually causes some confusion the first few miles. The wife's Harley and her Himalayan take up the rest of the garage. They're special too. S
This is where I think Honda cb500x should have been priced around 5.50L, it would have been a better option than the KTM being Honda and a parallel twin, light and nimble with peace of mind in terms of reliability. A small stretch in budget would have made it a perfect option
Strange product strategy. Guess they could not make that model fit into the price sensitive Indian market. And it's perhaps discontinued already for India.
Very nice information and relaxed presentation. Some of us are biased towards spoked wheels. You made a very logical and valid point there. Lighter bikes - that’s why motocross bikes are lighter. Easier to “correct” and control. Can’t correct a road roller, midair….😀 Glad you tour extensively too. In the end - the adventure is always BIGGER than the motorcycle/ car etc.
I've shared a couple of ownership videos of the V-Strom 650 on this channel. And yes, if you are up to it to go solo, the motorcycle is ready to do it!
Is it a good idea to buy a pre-owned used 390 Adv (2-3yrs ild) in india? If theres minimal changes but high price difference, maybe its better to buy used. Ps what web or source i can find used bikes.
Hello. Yes it would be OK to buy a used one. Leave one with money to invest in refurbishing and buying accessories if any and gears if necessary. I don't have an idea which source would be good. Cheers!
Which saddle bags are you using while riding with 390 adv. Even I'm looking one good light saddle bag for next trip in October 23. Please suggest some good saddle bags...
The 390 alloys are pretty good and strong. I haven't heard of any tourer or explorer or traveler who's had trouble with it. Only for competition and racing one needs spokes. So I suggest that for all purposes of travel and exploring and causal amateur offloading, the alloys are good enough. Plus they come with the tubeless setup. Cheers!
Dear sir, Thanks for this excellent video. I took a test ride of 390 and felt a vibration on the bike. I am currently riding Avenger 220. 70% of the time i will be using it for city and 3 15:31 0% highway touring. I am worried that the vibration will irritate me in the city ride. What would be your suggestion? Should i go for 390 or Himalyan 450. Your advise will mean a lot to me.
You are right but if motorcycle is too light then motorcycle is less stable at high speed and especially in cross winds . Just kidding lighter is always better 😅
Motorex is OEM for KTM across the world except in India. Motorex is made only in one plant in Switzerland and whoever has used it, don't go back to whatever they were using earlier. Cheers!
Two very different motorcycles meant for very different purposes. One is NOT better than the other in all aspects. You should think what is your main reason behind purchasing a motorcycle and what you will use it for.
I think the KTM does more things better! The only advantage you're going to have with the meteor is that beautiful parallel twin. It's the only reason I bought the interceptor last year as opposed to the KTM adventure. I've ridden the KTM 390 single in all its iterations (duke, rc, adventure) and generations extensively and had reached the limit of the capabilities of that engine. Don't get me wrong it's a great platform and they have increased the refinement immensely over the years but at the end of the day it's a high strung single that will do only so much. The twin of re on the other hand has so much character and potential. But if your doing long tours or light off roading or going to Ladakh.. The KTM all the way or get an interceptor like me and modify to do what you want, that way you get best of both worlds! Cheers
Thanks and glad you like it. Big Bear is not mine although I do spend much of my time and energy at Big Bear since I enjoy that line of work and the time I get to spend there. Cheers!

Heavier motorcycles give you a workout and improve your muscles. So you can save on gym membership. But seriously, i feel heavier bikes feel more planted when i ride them.. light weight makes it feel flimsy and overall doesn't give a good feel....
