Although I do like Arnold, one of the all time greatest physiques, love his movies, but this travesty forever tarnished his bodybuilding legacy. Always remember, it was the corrupt judges, promoters and the Weiders who chooses the winner. I don't blame those who chose not to compete again. I would've too. The bodybuilding judging has been suspect ever since, even up to this day.
I like tom's insight. I mean Arnold for all the fame and infamy he has in the bodybuilder community, did look better than most competitors, but Mike was also better built and more proportionate than most of the competitors that year. and the timing of Arnold's win and his hollywood career booming was a bit too coincidental so I can understand Mike's doubts about the judging. also saw photos and clips of them side by side that year, I personally thought mike had it more interms of proportions, flow, and aesthetic while arnold just looked lacking in the midsection and lower

Arnold is like Elvis, he has an energy that draws all the attention in the room to him. Everything about him just seems so full of charisma and energy. It doesn’t matter if Arnold wasn’t at his best around him everyone else is just forgettable.
This why u do the Dorian Yates and disappear into your gym, don't watch your competition everyday. That's how I think of winter. I'm bundled up, do my thing, hit the gym but u don't see yourself like in summer.
