Thanks Jay. Didn’t know much about Tanaka. Really good insight into the player and what he’ll bring to Leeds. If this transfer goes through it will be an absolute bargain at €4m. Just the sort of player the team needs.
Great interview, really cool to hear from Jay with some insider knowledge on Japanese football. Been very impressed with what their national team has done in previous tournaments, like the way they play, and think Ao will slot in nicely for Leeds. Will be epic to see the yellow Leeds shirt make its way to Japan! 🇯🇵
Wait? They don't play in white!! :-) As you'll surmise from the players mentioned, "my Leeds" is a little older than many of the viewers here? Greetings from Japan... hoping that Ao makes his mark. Alan at JSoccer Magazine!
@@kobesamurai the home kit is white, yes. This year we have a yellow away kit that the fans have been wanting for a while. It’s been our top seller this year, and my favorite Leeds shirt in a long time. Happy to see any Leeds shirt make its way across the world, the yellow one this year is just my personal favorite 🤩
Terry Yorath (with whom our new Japanese player is being compared) was a very useful player for Leeds. Very hard working in midfield and scored a reasonable number of goals for essentially a DM. He was Welsh so would have integrated well into the current side. He was never a star player but made 120 appearances and scored ten goals.
"My" Leeds was full of those classy / classic players but I didn't want to boost him TOO much... and the hard work, box-to-box, DMF / CMF that Ao can / will be did remind me of Yorath more than any other Leeds player (that I know/knew!).... 35 years in japan does that to you.... I've since been reminded that we gave Ramazani the number 17 shirt, apologies all! - Jay
