    I took up crochet about a month ago and I’ve been addicted !! I made your crochet scallion last week ( which I adore ) and today I made my baby a hat following your tutorial . It turned out so cute ! Can’t wait to take pictures of her wearing it . I really appreciate how well you explained every stitch, I managed to follow every step and it was a joy crocheting and learning these stitches . Many thanks

    I was making this beanie hat and I followed your instruction for adult size. I don’t know what happened but my adult size hat became a baby size hat and I’m just gonna make it into a bowl cozy because I don’t want to unravel the whole work I put into it. Maybe I’ll try again later with the hat.
    🤣♥️🤣

    • @TheTurtleTrunk
      @TheTurtleTrunk  2 года назад +1

      🤣 I’m sorry it didn’t work out and I hope you try again! You may need to go up a few hook sizes from mine if you have a tight tension, another reason it turned out so small could be if the yarn you used is smaller than what I used.

    • @BegayveCreation
      @BegayveCreation 2 года назад +1

      Yes, I was just thinking I need to go up a hook size and the yarn I’m using is a 4 worsted weight yarn. I think I’m using a I hook and thinking to use a K hook. All the adult size beanie hats I’ve crochet becomes a child size hat. So discouraging but I’m not giving up because some day I’ll have a hat that fits my big head.
      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    💙 Love this hat. However, the picot stitches looked tiny and wonky. So i swabbed out the picot for the bobble. Most satisfying! I’m so excited. Now with the bobble you can do as many “pull-ups” as you want such as 3x or 5x. I tried up to 5x and 4x looks best on your pattern. 😊 I appreciate you!

    My tension is neither tight or loose. I am using the yarn suggested, an l-hook, at round 8 I measure 6.5". I changed to a J-hook, and got 7". You measure 8", with an l-hook, at round 8. How am I getting my size so different? Not sure how to get to the sizes I need for a baby, teen and a man. Help needed ... TY! 😕

    • @TheTurtleTrunk

    Hey Ali! I'm watching this while I eat so I can see the pattern ahead of time before actually trying it, and am loving this video and pattern! I'll add it to my wishlist to make for myself.
    Question though- I want make a crochet a hat for my best friend (a guy) similar to this hat, but without the picots... he's a large burly man and also a snow plow operator... I just can't see him wearing this exact stitch pattern lol. Do I have the option to substitute the picot row with an alternate stitch choice that would be gender neutral (suitable for both men and women)? If so, what stitch would you recommend?
    Fawn 😍

    Hi Ali! Love your picot stitch projects! Ive made your sweet headbands for all my lady relatives, and they love them. I'm currently finishing up the picot blanket, and it's turning out better than I ever could have expected. So you can imagine how excited I am to make these adorable beanies. I would like to make one with two colors and just want to make sure I know when to change colors. Could you please let me know on which row this needs to happen. Thanks so much. By the way, I just purchased the materials for the gorgeous picot ball ornament - I am one happy lady!

    • @TheTurtleTrunk
      @TheTurtleTrunk  3 года назад +1

      I am so happy you (& your relatives) have been enjoying the picot patterns! If you’re making an adult sized beanie, I would change colors for a two toned beanie at the beginning of Row 14! If you’re doing the Child/Teen size I’d change at Row 13, and the baby size Row 12. But feel free to change at any time to get your desired look!

    I am having a problem with my tension I used 5.5 hook and row 5 i think it is measured 4" then i tried again with 6mm hook and it now measures about 4.5" should I go to 6.5mm and try again, recommended hook size for my yarn (Lion Brand Heartland) is 6mm or would the holes be too big

    • @TheTurtleTrunk
      @TheTurtleTrunk  2 года назад +1

      Hi Sarah! I think Heartland is a bit thinner than the yarn I used so that may be the issue. This beanie will stretch so I think you'll be ok with the 6mm hook. I think the 6.5mm may cause too large of holes so I would only use it if the 6mm is still too small.

    • @SarahSmith-sz3oq
      @SarahSmith-sz3oq 2 года назад +1

      I went up to 7mm it measures what it should but is abit holey, do you think a 12 ply would have been better... how can I show you a picture of the finished product to show you the holes, I am on the body finally I have undone it so many times as it wasn't quite right

    Hello this is design is too good, but while making this beanie just quite confuse with the round of work a single crochet in the third loop..

    • @TheTurtleTrunk
      @TheTurtleTrunk  2 года назад +1

      working in the 3rd loop will help create that ribbed effect. The HDC stitches from the previous row will have 3 loops: 2 top loops and a loop on the back, you'll want to single crochet only in that 3rd loop to create that ribbed effect. Hope that helps!
