This is the true work of the author. This is an example that some customers should see, to know how to value this type of work. Complex, but magical. Excellent video.👍
Great Shoot, You’ve certainly sparked my interest in the way you approach each task in hand, currently binge watching your videos. Thank you for the break down tutorials.
It’s so incredible to see how much effort, thought, and technicality go into a shot like this. I only have two strobes - can you show how you can do high end-feeling shots with less gear? Please keep up the amazing work!! Love your vids.
Big thanks Kelly! Means a lot to me. With 2 strobes you can do a lot, many of my tutorials I use 2 flashes. This one was a bit crazy with 6 flashes. I will have your comment in mind though.
Talking about simple lighting setups hahahaha. And don't forget to show your clients how easy it is to move in between that jungle of flashes just to push that hazelnut an inch to the side. Botvidsson, thanks for teaching us on how to think!
Brilliant video, so informative and love your style. The final image is simply amazing. Complicated setup but your explanation and close up of how it looks is very useful and appreciated. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Martin. First, thanks for showing my daughter's photo. Second, and more import, great video, as always. Complex setup, but it's nice to see how you planned and executed such photo. Thanks for your video!
I am a graphic designer, and I thought the way you set up the all settings there is very similar to what the graphic designers do on the screen. You are a great photographer and a designer at the same time! !
That makes me very happy to hear. I love graphic design. Actually, I use to design artist CD sleeves for the major record labels before I became a photographer. 😁
That was super cool, except for the tropical heat in your studio ;) I have enjoyed watching your videos over the last few days and I'm looking forward to the car shoot. Thanks!
Hi, amazing episode! Great work. Maybe little bit out of topic, but could you please tell which tripod and head you use for product photography especially to shoot from above? Do.you use the same for stills and video? Thanks
I am soo thankful for your amazing work your're showing us. Especially this complex setup gave me a whole new view into product photography. You're the men!!!. Keep up the great work, and btw don't worry about taking longer videos. For me personally, for this kind of setup I would rather like a little bit more into depth how ever light and modifier works
Well, this was the nicest comment ever, thanks a lot!! Maybe I need to start doing short tip-of-the-day videos on modifiers or something like that, maybe...
greetings all the way from the Philippines 🇵🇭. I have been following your videos for months now and I really knew a lot of things from your videos. you truly are inspirational. you really break it down one light at a time which is exactly the way we learn easily. I hope you keep on doing this. you are teaching a lot of people
Wow, Philippines! Nice you could drop by and thanks for the support. Makes me happy you learn some from my videos, that's what it's all about. Thanks again Gabriel!
yeap ! great scenic installation. After it is also a question of good and spécifique flash equipment (expensive...) like spot with differents pattern. The picture is top at the end
Great Videos Martin! I use Profoto and I was wondering about the snoot in this video, it seems like a nice size, I bought some from a popular online supplier and they are very small...Do you mind letting me know the brand of the one you are using in this video?
I have a link under almost all videos that goes to my Amazon store, you can find it there. If there's no link under this video go to the latest uploads. I don't remember the name, some Chinese stuff I think.
It's the Profoto Multispot, and the Dedolight attachment is made for that flash. Probably not possible to buy nowadays. Very expensive solution. profoto.com/se/products/lights/studio-packs/special-effect-lights/multispot Thanks!
All your video Should have 15 million + vieuws and subscribers you are a legend and My inspiration thankyou for what you are doing im 20 years old and im a beginner and your My inspiration #legend
Nicholas Harricharan Thanks. Absolutely no problem to do a composite. For this shot I would start with the flash at the back doing the smoke action. Then just walk around the scene and put some light on the peach, tube, apricots, nuts and the label. 5-6 photos and then put them together in photoshop, 5 min job. Good luck and thanks again for the support Nicholas.
It's just regular CTO from Rosco, I have them in my shop www.amazon.com/dp/B000CHR0QS/?ref=exp_botvidsson_lv_dp_vv_d It works fine when I place them outside the zoom reflector with the grid. Think the power of the modelling light is turned down a bit also :)
@@botvidsson Thanks a lot! Love to watch you create amazing and seemingly complicated shots with actually very little equipment (mostly) needed. Cheers from Poland! ;)
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing. I have a question. Is it ever appropriate to create the text of a label in post? Would you ever ask for the label design in a vector file from a company you are shooting for? I notice fine print on labels/packaging can be poorly printed and then becomes tedious to cleanup in photoshop. Any advice?
Normally I shoot the product as it is but once or twice I have asked for the label and add it in post. That was pharmaceutical products shot straight on/white background. And yes... I spend a lot of time fixing labels in post. 😵
Yes, to get the final small details in place I 'cheat' a bit. Like in this photo, I took two separate photos to get the dark edge on the glas and also a bit darker edge on the bottle. Also the smoke from the tube was a bit too much so I used the best shot when the smoke comes out and then deleted some spill below the bottle. I always try to get as much as possible in the final image in camera, but sometimes I do 100% composite shots, like this mic static1.squarespace.com/static/55d243bce4b0145993597bd6/55d79a3ae4b0eff3bc2ce074/55de5b0ee4b04e9d10631fc5/1529936202013/?format=2500w This is a composite of approx 10 images only used 1 flash, maybe I should do a videos on this. You have to my careful when doing composites because it can look a bit too much fake. /Martin
Amazing as always! how is the process to develop the idea in the art direction? why is everything in that possition and not other? like the angle of shoot or the way that you frame the picture?
Thanks Hernando! I can't really answer why I set it up like I did, if that's what you mean. I did not start with this set up, it took many hours before I got to this. One good way to get started is to focus on one thing and try to build up the set around it. I started with the two oak planks, first I placed it straight on the floor and was planning to shoot in 45 degree angle down, did not like it so I put them in the air. From experience I know bottles look nice when they are back lit so that was the next step, to set a flash from behind. Then just adding stuff like the tub and so on. For som people, like pro set designers, they just have the eye for this so they will do it very fast, after all it's all they do all day long. 👽
