Well done Coconuts TV for your insightful two-part doc on palm oil and its ravaging effects on the rainforest and the people and animals living there. The solutions are there through sustainable agroforestry if big business will once and for all do more than greenwash and actually commit to saving the forest. As you mention in the film, palm oil is going nowhere, so the only hope for the ecosystem and the overall health of our planet is to encourage these agro-giants to act responsibly. At the Orangutan Conservancy here in the USA we've noticed a great increase in public awareness about the palm oil issue, and as the global/consumer public increasingly demands sustainably-produced oil palm those giant corporations who have been burning and slashing at will are going to have to look beyond stellar profits and think about doing things the right way - growing palm oil sustainably - or they'll eventually lose the customers they've been duping, while true green growers will step in and increase their customer base.
Lets assume that they opted to plant another vegitable oil plant like sunflower or any other crop, would they not clear the land? Surely they would, and in fact they would need to clear 10 times more the land for other crops to get same amount of output. So lets stop this negative agenda on palm oil just because it cant grow in Europe.
I am liking this documentari but it is still bad maid!!! To me friend ho don't no enefing about this I don't show this, I show another movie about this! !!
