Do people not remember Nate Oats has had teams at Alabama that have been #1 in the Kenpom defensive efficiency metric? He plays an up tempo style, but normally Bama has a solid defense. Last year was the exception because Bediako declared for the draft super late in the process and Oats couldn't find anyone to fill his spot so in 2023-24 he had no rim protector.
Anyone that thinks oats doesn’t produce great defenses are just so ignorant. Oats has had a 2 top 5 defense in the past 4 years, I truly believe they have another if Charles bediako doesn’t leave for the draft so surprisingly and late, forcing Nelson to the 5 instead of playing the 4. With cliff and Nelson going to the 4 they will be a top 10 defense confirmed!!

Holloway is not stating, come on fellas, that’s an obvious one. It will be Wrightsell or Youngblood at the 2, and Youngblood or Derrion Reid. Its possible Holloway plays great minutes off bench tho
You don’t have to put Flagg on all American team. He a reclassifying 17 year old freshmen. We don’t know how he going to play. He won’t be a 1st team all American. His game set up for him to avg 14-15pta, 7-8 Reb , 3-4blks. He not a 20pt a game player.
The talking head world is way too high on Bama. The offseason movement does not justify a move from 14 to 1 or 2. This was an inconsistent team all year that was very bad defensively, fortunate to beat UNC, got to play a 6 seed in the regional final and are getting credit for playing UCONN "close". UCONN covered the game and the final margin was 14. Torvik has them 14, I suspect KenPom might have them similar come October. Human pollsters are much higher on the tide than the predictive metrics will be to start the season.
You clearly didn’t pay attention to the offseason moves this team went to a final four after replacing 9 players and 3 assistants the year before they’ve not only brought in a great high school recruiting class but a great transfer class
@@jeremiahcroskey6978lol I most certainly did. Torvik says they are rated #8 entering 2025. That includes the offseason moves. Jumping from 14 to 8 makes a lot more sense than 14 to 1 or 2.
@@Straface23 people are saying this because they aren’t purely going off of torvik ratings Bama is easily a top 3 team in the country in terms of talent and then coming off the final four building a complete roster also helps
Prior seasons post season runs are often over rated. Remember when everyone had UNC #1 after an 8 seed season but a hot March. Bama was a good not great team last year who got hot late. The roster is only slightly better, if at all better. Losing Griffin hurts the shooting upside. Cliff is a great defender but not much offensively. Aden is a guard who couldn’t shoot last year. Hes also used to having the ball and running the offense. He won’t have that here. I expect better defense thanks to Cliff, but a step back on offense. A solid team overall similar to LY in the regular season
@@Straface23 you do realize they added 40% 3pt shooters in the portal I don’t think the offense will be as good as last year but it won’t need to be the team last year lacked so much size on the perimeter this year will be a different story we don’t need Cliff to do much offensively either he’s perfect for the role he was brought in for

and even in the tournament he got them to lock in and they played some really good defense.
Guarantee Oats doesn’t start three 6’2 and under guards. He recruited to defense in the portal, so I’d bet on a rating similar to ‘21 and ‘23.
