    Books are everywhere, and yet still so underrated in the design community imo. The courses you are being sold sound nicer with shinier graphics and all, but the cost to value ratio of a good old book is unparalleled.

    1. Building a Story Brand
    2. Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion

    When I was 19 years old I joined a multi-level marketing (MLM) company. Our mentor would have us listen to Jim Rhon almost daily, he has been such a great inspiration since then. One of my favorite quotes from him to this day is "success is something you attract, by the person you become". I just really got what that really meant about 10 months ago, I'm now about to be 38, so it took about 19 years for me to go "ooooh now I really get it"

    Hey! I got so much value out of your book recommendations over the years, its unbelievable. I landed a dream job as Branding Officer at a software company, directing a team of five people. I came across Marty Neumeyer, Seth Godin, Douglas Davies, Austin Kleon, Blair Enns and Donald Miller, because of you and it changed my life. Thank you!! However. After i studied lots of this stuff in a branding context, i am not so sure if Marty wrote "THE" book on brand. Sure his Stuff is awesome and he is great - no doubt. But isn't it true that Aaker is to be seen as the father of "Brand" ? You have never talked about him. He has some very valuable Stuff, too. Maybe you could elaborate on him and why you seem to not mention him in the great context. That would be interesting. As said, thank you, Chris! You. Are. Awesome. !!! Greetings from Germany ;)

    • @thefutur

    • @OptimusRhymeCrew
      @OptimusRhymeCrew Год назад +2

      @@thefutur You got me in some way. I have to say the trinity of Marty Neumeyer has the most value. But "Aaker on Branding - 20 Principles that drive success" comes pretty close. Also, really helpful in developing strategy and a framework to deploy is Ulli Applebaum with his Brand positioning Workbook. And there's a german Book called "Branded Interactions" by Marco Spies & Katja Wenger which is described as the standard work on branding for digital transformation. It's focused on interaction design and the hands-on process of branding in general with a lot of very nice graphics. If you're lucky there is a translation, but just the graphics are worth it, i'd say.

    I have previously seen your YTs and became curious about the book: "The Win Without Pitching Manifesto". As a designer, your focus is mostly on getting better at designing and when you start your own business, you are completely green on the business side and what it takes to run a healthy business. It's been that way for me for far too long. But it's never too late to do something about it. I implemented some of these techniques and with a large client I can safely say it gave me 50% more in profit than usual - they even return back and would offer me more for the task, because they could see the value and importance of the service I could contribute with - I've never tried that before. Thanks for the effort and sharing. Having said that, I can improve much more on the business side and I still make mistakes. It's a new journey and it's fun when it succeeds. For me, it's about finding the customers who appreciate what I can help them with and who can see the value of my contribution to their business.

    Hey The Futur, just to say that I really love what you're doing, just mind blowing. I also want to say that these stock video are really strange... I explain. The Futur, and especially Chris Do, is for me, synonym of design, typography, grided layouts, pixel perfect... And this is truly what I love about you guys. I love the deck you use, these typos layouts, these little animations with shapes and colors (and cut out of chris 😉), it reminds me the keynote we make for our pitch. Really inline with the Futur brand. So, those stock footage, really unpersonnal, generic are really strange in your edit and especially from you The Futur. I understand that create animations, little motions takes time and ressources and you may want more cut and rythm in your edit, but these footage... It remind me a video of you and Fabian Geyrhalter and his test about the genericness of the brand and here the test failed lol Sorry for the big bulk of text. And, again, thx for all, you rock guys!

    After looking at this you might feel you have understood everything, but trust me you will understand it when you practice it. Happened to me. While talking you will suddenly realise that you forgot about what kind of questions you wanted to ask, and even if you did remember, you will ask in different orders. Practice ACTIVE LISTENING.

    Your first words on the second book i was thinking the words before you said ha ha. Brings memories of an old sales job i did where i was 23% closer and i never did it before, but, i enjoyed playing with people, got a buzz out of the feeling when you just know, (is that sadistic) im really a sportsteacher, but i like hard sales. Loved yr vid doing the mock sale 1k which ended 4k. Slow, layed back, control, like lion stalking.

    Now I start to get a bit upset. I glued to the screen since hours (after a full day yesterday) and binge watch your channel. taking notes and sponging it up. I want my life back but seems like the old one never will be back. THanks for that. I am not exactly in this industry right now, but my gut says I WANT TO WORK WITH YOU. one day... day one!
