Inebriated Genie He's definitely different. We met him at the 9:30 Club back on APC's second album tour and my buddy's dumbass girlfriend ran up to him and told him how much she loved him. He looked at her and said, "You terrify me". He then sat in his chair and said nothing the rest of the time while we chatted up Twiggy. James Iha was even odder. Saw them the following week in Philly at the TLA (without her dumb ass) and Maynard couldn't have been nicer. James was still James...Danny Carey was actually a prick to be honest. Wasn't a fan. He was there with his side project Pigmy Love Circus.
This is definitely from Coachella '99. I was at this show. One of the best Tool shows I've seen and I've been to quite few. Has to be by far my favorite live version of Jerk-Off....ever....
I always come back to this version of Jerk Off Live! Every time chills! That breakdown, and the mood. No other band could do this live! Sad to see the last comment was two weeks ago.
Maynard " Thank you! good night!" immediately after that performance was both surreal and funny! Also I love those wind ornaments they have in the background ! They look like intestines!
Such a powerful performance. Its such a disgrace to see pop artist nowadays lipsyncing in live concerts. We need more bands like these who can perform live.
This looks just like Coachella 1999. I was at that show and everything from the stage props to the bands costumes is exactly the same. This song and the Peach covers absolutely blew my mind.
I love singing and screaming along to this while on the freeway during a stressful week.. thanks for giving me an outlet TOOL. This song means so much to me and this version... is just..perfect. Well there are other higher quality videos of this same performance but yeah you get it..
This is Coachella 1999, I was at this show and remember it vividly. Intolerance was the opener and Jerk Off was the closer. Anyone have more footage from this show?
fucking hell. that was nothing short of amazing. MAAAYNAAARD! I fuckin love how you can hear the begginings of amazing samples from danny. electricty sounding shit towards the end espcially...woah...far out man...my acids kicking in...
crazymiles Perfect. That explains why they first play the song Jerk-off, and then play the song Intolerance. Solid chronology right there. It's almost as if here, on this very page, there was video evidence to the exact opposite of what you are saying, and then you completely ignored said footage and instead decided to say something pointedly contrary and ridiculous.
Awesome version! I just love when Maynard ends Jerk Off, " shoot you in your FUCKING HEAD!! Thank you good night." I thought that was kind of funny. Epic performance, he puts so much into his music.
I kind of wish he still said "shoot you myself!". Though I love this alternative twist on the song, almost giving it a more positive outlook. I just don't feel the anger as much in this tune.
Nobody appreciate the Maynard dance after the scream. Not sure how he manage to move his upper body with the rhythm. I can't do that even with my hands :)
Top 10 Tool song all time. My list. 1. Bottom 2. H 3. Jerk Off 4. Reflection 5. Push It 6. Flood 7. Third Eye 8. The Grudge 9. Wings for Marie pt 2 10. No Quarter
1. Disgustipated 2. Lost Keys - Rosetta Stoned 3. Disposition/Reflection/Triad (Maybe I'm cheating, but these 3 need to be together) 4. Sober 5. Pushit (Salival Version) 6. Parabol / Parabola 7. Lateralus 8. Third Eye 9. The Pot 10. Stinkfist
Since I see 3 comments right here within the last month, asking when this show was, I assume that info isn't in the comments at all. Should be in the list to the right >>> 'Tool - Jerk-Off - Coachella 1999'
@Poonard That gives me some hope then. I been taken lessons for about a year, but I never did anything musical before. I can play a few nirvana and bad religion songs so far.
This is the version of Jerk-off evolved into Ticks and Leaches. It was necessary for the band to do this to put more emphasis on getting over the little things that bug you instead of acting out violently against them.
how old is this? b/c he's not really known nowa days to sing up front on stage like that. he's normally in the back on his lil stage. but i like this vid regardless. songs just kicks ass and the guitar just alone is sick.
It’s crazy how us Tool fans are so accepting of Maynard’s weirdness no one comments that he is painted blue and wearing nothing but a thong. We are a different breed of fans. 😂
@Poonard Dream Theater has the best musicians probably, but their song writing is not very good in my opinion. Their songs are more about showing what they can do. Primus is cool though.
best version of this song ever made
lmfao
Dingin Varster by fucking far.
the bridge is fucking incredible
@@santoslhalper5711best bridge they ever wrote
I love how pleasantly he bids the crowd farewell.

Alki46D why was he a prick?
+Kody Haskett He probably wasn't. I've been a tool fan for like 17 years, never really heard anyone say anything about Danny that was less than nice.
with his voice shredded to bits lmao
"DIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!" ...Maynard has THE single most awesome face-melting scream ever.
Adam's solos are so unique and melodic. Such a great guitarist
What energy!!! Epic scream at the end. TOOL is unbelievable!

don't worry, we're still commenting :)
The power under this song is ball shatteringly amazing!
5:10 for anyone looking for “the scream”.
I have yet to hear a scream better than this. A scream has to suit the song, this is icing on a cake!
Thank you
I'm here for the dance he does later lol
tired of waiting for the scream
Maynard mixing it up at 1:30
Adam jones mixing it up at 2:58
so good
One of the greatest bands to ever grace this earth.
Maynard " Thank you! good night!" immediately after that performance was both surreal and funny! Also I love those wind ornaments they have in the background ! They look like intestines!
If anyone's wondering what Maynard is singing at the extended part of the song, I think it's these lyrics:
Let it,
Let it go,
Let it,
Let it go
This should have 1B views
Such a powerful performance. Its such a disgrace to see pop artist nowadays lipsyncing in live concerts. We need more bands like these who can perform live.
Not many times where that happens.
4:30 and beyond is EVERYTHING
Why is the bridge to this just so fucking beautiful? Need this on Salival 2 please.
Need a song based around that fucking godly bridge!
TOOL might not be everyone's cup of tea but Thank God they are mine.
This looks just like Coachella 1999. I was at that show and everything from the stage props to the bands costumes is exactly the same. This song and the Peach covers absolutely blew my mind.
This is my favorite tool bootleg video on youttube.. or anywhere else in the world. Thumbs up if you agree.
thats the most beautiful breakdown ive ever hear... and i didnt expect it for this song so different
So many years later, still coming back to this! Peace!
Maynard really upped the threat of violence in this one...I'd rather be shot than, well ya know
This comment is fucking gold.

@5:44 How he said "thank you have a goodnight!" was so bipolar and unexpected. I lol'ed

Best tool song ever
My ear holes are digging this! Effn awesome.
that is the best version ive of this : )
Nope. Jc dobbs is. Fuckin insane

Jerk-Off is not followed by Intolerance on this show. It's not followed by ANY song; it was the last one they played that night.
crazymiles Perfect. That explains why they first play the song Jerk-off, and then play the song Intolerance. Solid chronology right there. *finishes jerk-off* "Thankyou goodnight". *cuts to intolerance* yeah you're wrong.
@@BULLTRONHERO wow I know this is 8 years old but imagine being this much of a retard.
Now I know why MJK stands in the back. It's so he can watch the best drummer on the planet!!!!!
Two songs best sung into your true mirror.
just, amazing
Awesome version! I just love when Maynard ends Jerk Off, " shoot you in your FUCKING HEAD!! Thank you good night." I thought that was kind of funny. Epic performance, he puts so much into his music.
i never set expectations for tool because they just exceed 'em anyway. i let them blow me away every time.
same here
Bow to the power of the Thong!!!!!
catalystvoxco, nice live recording! almost like you used pro tools! lol best live tool i've ever seen outside of being at a Tool concert myself.
Great Vid n Qual
This is TOOL is thier PRIME!! imo
They sounded great and Maynard was really into the performance.
@toolnv77 Coachella 1999. It was 12 years ago. I would have liked to see them back then. I haven't seen them period though.
thanks
No, YOU ROCK!
I kind of wish he still said "shoot you myself!". Though I love this alternative twist on the song, almost giving it a more positive outlook. I just don't feel the anger as much in this tune.
I think that was the point of the break, to provide a contrast with the rest of the song
HELL YEAH!
Nobody appreciate the Maynard dance after the scream. Not sure how he manage to move his upper body with the rhythm. I can't do that even with my hands :)

i cant get over that scream at 5:10 its so sick!!!
5:08 his scream... probably my favorite of his. It just takes off.... What the FUCK. \,,/
Live at it's best!!
@NealyoungbloodMurphy dudethat was my first too! i think they opened with sweat (track 1 opiate) and maynard wore a dress.
A pint of sailor jerry and a couple bowls of purple urkle, plus this video.....I have found Jesus.
It takes balls to stand in front of a crowd of people in a G string Maynard is the man

yeah that scream is pretty fucking sick.
@BrokenCircles - pretty sure it is in fact Coachella 1999
@23house23 - Coachella I believe in 99 or 2000 somewhere around there
Tool is the best band ever hands down without a fuckin doubt!!!!!
He is always cool ^^
i'm pretty sure this was at coachella. i was working right in front of the stage. then again it might not be
gravy.
5:05 i eargasm'd
@BrokenCircles This was taken by my older brother. He's pretty sure it was Ozzfest 96, but he's not too positive. Who knows?
@WanganSpecR32 It almost sounds like he's saying "let it go". But who knows.
Fucking....epic..
holy shit i love this version... is Adam playing a synth in that part or some kinda pedal
I just realized... this was 10 years ago!
This comment was 10 years ago. Sup?
@@ado011235 damn now the show was 20 years ago! Also, hello 16 year old me. I'll be back here when I'm 36, hopefully!
@Poonard Les made me want to learn bass, but I suck at it.
yes
it was billy, the guy from perfect circle
I agree.
no way. its that spine tattoo

@NealyoungbloodMurphy he came out in a dress for that show.... if i remember right , the pixies opened for them????
my god
i was talkin about the gutar tech
@catalystvoxco this video is definitely 10-10-99 cesaro source. Also there your version is messed up.
I came.
This song explains how i feel about BP's CEO
@Poonard Dream Theater has the best musicians probably, but their song writing is not very good in my opinion. Their songs are more about showing what they can do. Primus is cool though.
hey catalystvoxco, do you have any idea which concert this is?
I know this was coachella, I think 2003 maybe wrong about date
oh nevermind didnt know he said it defferent in the live version
Maynard sure doesn't scream anymore like that, too bad cause this shit is what we call an epic scream.
i rock the european man thong at the beach, reviews are mostly negative
Wow
2:00 = epic
which ones are the number 2 and 1?
is there any way to get an mp3 for this?
in the end, on the opiate version he says something like "shoot you in your fucking head", but i cant hear what he says in this video?
Doms sorry for being 9 years late on an answer lol but he ends it with “shoving my - my foot up your fucking ass!”
You mean Adam, Paul, and Danny. ;)
@samboyaus I think it was 1999
