I am an A-list member with Southwest. I am an engineer handling the western portion of the US for my company... and Southwest is hands down one of the most amazing business models on the planet. I get frustrated when I am forced to use a different airline due to lack of service. From the ticket counter to walking off at a destination... absolutely outstanding.
    P.s.
If you didnt watch this whole video you are lesser for it. I have seen this video 3 times now...

Pay attention. We had/have some great folks! I have left SWA but I know Colleen and Herb this is a great attitude. We the employees were never restricted in our comments never condemned or fired for them, never thought less for telling management what we thought! Never! Over 12 years, I was never talked down by management, in fact I talked them up! We had our fights yes, but we built an Airline!

We had this for class assignment. Mrs. Barrett had an interesting session on You Tube. She talked about how she got into Southwest Airline. I liked the session.

I am studying PLATO (Providing leadership across the organisation) at Canberra Institute of Technology School of Management and Business. We were asked to take a look at this video as part of the course. I completely understand why. The simple message, and heart and mind of leadership is truly great!

Such genuine, humility, and authenticity in the way she speaks about a company she loves. No fancy business jargon here. Her passion tells the story of her leadership and why Southwest has been successful.

I really enjoy the mission statement which says you should treat people the way you want to be treated and every other thing will fall in place. That is what you give out is what you get in return. You can’t be bad to others and expect good in return.

This lady has such a caring and genuine personality. She speaks from the heart and lives that way as well. The reason she is so special is because what she stands for is so rare. She is amazing ---the world needs more like her! CR

What an amazing model to serve and lead by being a servant leader. Taking a class on this topic through GCU. I enjoy the diversity and real-life lessons, information, and experiences that is present in this world as I finish my senior year with GCU.

The servant leadership style of American Airlines also follows the agile methodology: Transparency (Communication to customers, employees, and stakeholders); Collaborative style of team development (Everyone has an ability to improve the process). I love the egalitarian ideology (everyone is and should be treated equal [rights and opportunities]. The development and implementation of the inverted pyramid style of conducting business, specifically when customer interaction must be a focal point of the business strategy, is a dynamic aspect of servant leadership. After 20 years of service in the military, I continue to strive to improve my servant leadership skills; how can I help you reach your personal, professional and spiritual goals. As a program and training development manager, these are the key concepts which will ensure that the end-states of project and programs exceed expectations. I would be blessed to work for a company that follows this philosophy.

No sudden moves: You’re looking emotional commitment right in the eye. slapCompany Question to you: Where do you stand?

She said 35 years of profits is "unheard of" in the industry - uh, no it's not - Delta Air Lines between the 1930's and 1983 made money every single year and all but just a handful of quarters.
SW got very, very lucky on fuel hedging - they were the only one that "bet" on fuel in the late 1990's and early 2000's and it paid off big - $2 billion dollars worth of savings - with that kind of gamble/payout, it's easy to make employee's lives better than their competitors.

You can tell buy your attitude that you don't practice servant leadership. You should try it, you'll be way less critical and the returns on your investment will be more than just a gamble.

For some reason or another she seems to be not as genuine and forthcoming as she ought to be. One thing among many things that she did not mention was diversity.
