This is the wedding vow practice scene of brilliant Dr. Preston Burke from season finale of Grey's Anatomy (S03E25).. He is indeed excellent of all kinds of works..
this is like the most beautiful vows i have ever heard in my life... it actually broke my heart that Cristina never have a chance to hear these words from Burke... DUMP YANG AND MARRY ME PRESTON BURKE!!!!
I love how their relationship was so simple but yet so 'sharp'. They didn't play unnecessary games with each other and you could tell they weren't going to cheat on each other and that they were a strong couple. I would love to have a relationship like this with someone, and no it doesn't just happen in movies, if you wait just that tiny bit longer, it will happen to you as well :)
" I'm a heart man. Take 'em apart, put 'em back together, hold them in my hands. I am a heart man. So this, I am sure. You are my partner. My lover. My very best friend. My heart. My heart beats for you. And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this. I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands, I promise you... me."
I never really got over Burke leaving the show :/ No matter how good Owen seems to be fore Christina, there's just this chemistry between Burke and her that Owen can never fill but that's just me
Damn that’s a good point. I loved Owen for a while when he first showed up, but him screaming at her in Meredith’s kitchen where everyone could hear him just pushed me over the edge. Absolutely sickening.
Later on when they were long broken up, and he was angry about Teddys past with Allison, Amelia had to be the one to put him in his place by bringing up how he choked Christina. And the thing is, is that Owen tried to justify it because he has PTSD, he justifies and excuses his own actions so many times but never allows anyone else to.
"I think I speak for every woman in this room when I say, 'Dump her. Dump Yang and marry me.'" I love Addison. Grey's just isn't the same without Addison and Burke.
@@delpicsla65 Not too late, just saw your comment. 😃 Unfortunately, Grey's wasn't the same without Lexie either. I'm glad for Izzie's and Alex's happy ending, though.
"I am sure, I am ready, and I KNOW..." I remember watching this for the first time and thinking, 'Damn. That is what I call a performance!' IW (and Dr Burke) is sorely missed :(
Burke got WAAAAAAY 2 much criticism. He wanted 2 tell the truth from the staart about his hand but Yang wanted her mentor, she wanted 2 CUT. I Love Yand she's awesome, but u can't say that Burke wasn't a gentleman & he LOVED Yang w'all of his heart. He knew she would have married him anyway, but he loved her enough 2 let her go & not make her compromise who she was. Yand said Burke took pieces of her, well I think she took CHUNCKS of him
I’ll give you the bit about his hand but the relationship was doomed from the start I was just waiting for their separation and it astounds me that no one else saw it coming Burke expected Yang to change while never changing a damn thing himself and when he finally did realize this he didn’t attempt to fix it he just hightailed the fuck out It’s possible I’m not being fair to Burke because I’m comparing the effort he put in to the effort I would put in but in my personal opinion he didn’t do enough
I disagree. Yang never acted the way she did out of intentional coldness, she’s just not that kind of person and he knew that going in, he still loved her anyway, but that doesn’t make Cristina a bad person, nor was Burke a bad person. But for a while there he DID expect her to change so many things about herself and so fast too, and I get why she basically had a breakdown over it. I absolutely think if more time had elapsed between the two, they would have ended in a very good place with each other. I’d argue that trying to start a serious relationship while your partner is in the most excruciating times of their career is bound to be incredibly rocky, notice how basically none of the interns and fresh residents can really make their relationships work well…it’s too much pressure, especially when there’s such a difference in being an intern and basically veteran surgeon, Burke was way past his intern and resident years and at a way more mature and different pace than Cristina was, and i think that had a major impact on their relationship. It nearly tore Meredith and Derek apart too, bc he expected too much from her, too fast. Burke was an amazing character, but if the writers had given them a bit more time….I believe they would have met each other in the middle way better and built something more solid.
You guys do understand that if Isaiah Washington had not done what he did, maybe he would of still been on the show as we speak? Like who the fuck does that? He was easily one of the best actors on this show. What a waste. + This is by far my favorite scene in Grey's Anatomy history. + They need to let him back on the show, if not, just atleast give us an update on what and how he's doing.
I can't stand the actor but I agree with you. He was very good on the show. Shonda did not want to let him go but he kept digging the hole deeper and deeper. AFAIK, to this day, he still thinks he is the victim and has not given a sincere apology for what he did and said. He apologized, and then took it back, and then made more hurtful and hateful comments. I think he did a good job recently, when he came back for Sandra's exit from the show. In spite of how I feel about him, I don't think he should be punished professionally for the rest of his life. It would be a waste.
dachickenlady People are human, and humans make mistakes, and what Washington did was certainly one. Although I regret the loss of Burke's character very much, I think it's good that they have thrown Washington out of the show, as a sign/symbol for tolerance towards homosexuals.
annie grey I think IW got himself kicked off the show, for very good reasons. He was not just homophobic, which was bad enough. (It's not about tolerance. Gays don't need to be tolerated. They need to be treated with the same dignity and civility as any other people.) He was violent, disrespectful toward other cast members, made the working environment toxic, and kept bringing negativity to the show.
Rewatching this after all these years and still crying... Best vow ever. So genuine, sincere, and felt from the heart.. tired of owen over reacting and shouting
"Cristina, I could promise to hold you, and to cherish you. I could promise to be there, in sickness and in health. I could say till death do us part. But I won't. Those vows are for optimistic couples, the ones full of hope. I do not stand here on my wedding day optimistic or full of hope. I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady".
All these years later I still hate that that wedding never took place, that Cristina never heard these vows, and that it was to be the last time we see Burke for several seasons. With so many favorite characters -- and couples -- lost over the years, I am still amazed I watch this show.
Even when he's not in the show anymore his character was too strong that I can't help but imagine what he would've done if he was still there. Dr. Burke was definitely an amazing doctor. Too bad he had to be written off, I really wanna see how his character would develop even if he and Cristina don't end up together. He's an actual Cardio God. Plus he had the chemistry with Cristina that I never felt with Owen.
Man!! I cannot wait for Burke to come back. I dont even care if its for a second. I would love more but I will take what I can get. Christina and burke had the only romance on the show that came close to MerDer. At times Chris and Burke out shined them. It was never a dull moment between them. I like Owen but come on! Burke brought the heat LOL
If some man would say that to me on my wedding day I would absolutely cry. Of course it'a a bit soppy and all, but weddings are like that. (I surely wouldn't reject Preston Burke as my husband. ^^)
Greys anatomy would be better if they bring back burke, did not kill off george, kept izzy's sanity, give the chief his job back and got rid of all the mercy westers. Though I don't mind the pretty eyed one.
The merger wasn’t a problem, it introduced new characters that I enjoy the fuck out of But yeah overtime the show did develop an over reliance on bullshit Then again Greys anatomy has always been nothing but good people getting shit on it’s nothing new and as long as we give a shit about Meredith and whatever friends and family she has left we will always watch the show because despite the show screwing us over time and time again they do so in a way that makes us care more because we’re desperate to see what happens next
grey's anatomy became so depressing somehow when they all became attendings and the new interns and george dying and cristina and izzie going away way to go shonda
Derek and Meredith were a beautiful couple. But Christina and Burke would work in real life. Noone understood Christina better than Burke. Their shared commitment to their vocation; their roaring fights and passionate kisses; their respect for each other. Theirs was an honest relationship based on a solid friendship. Derek and Meredith had the whole McDreamy vibe, but I got tired of them soon and I am only on Season 4. Christina and Burke were the real deal.
well cristina and burke are both arrogant and had god complexes which is why they just get each other, they're imperfect and very realistic... plus the chemistry is effortless between them. Mer and Derek eventually became not so interesting for me too 😂 even in season 2 and 3.
