  • Tham Khao Bin Cave is located in the National Forest just outside of Ratchaburi, about 20 kilometers.
The name originates from the legend of a Chinese merchant sailing a large junk through the area when this was a coastal area. The ship crashed into one side of the hill and chipped the rocks.
Others believe that the name comes from a rock formation in one of the rooms in the cave. Inside one of the rooms is a dull white stalactite sticking out like a dove that is flapping its wings as if it is about to fly. The flying bird or flying mountain may be why it’s named Khao Bin.
The peak of Khao Bin has a height of about 272 meters above sea level. The mouth of the cave is 5 meters above the ground level. The area inside the cave is huge with it being separated into 8 different rooms that are equipped with lights. The lights making it possible to clearly see the beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites.
It takes about 30-45 minutes to walk around inside the cave. There is a small mineral pond that the villagers believe a holy well.
Inside the cave is divided into 8 rooms, each of room is named from the stalagmites and stalactites formations that occur from the dripping water that seeps through the mountain. The names of the rooms are; the hall of Akantuka (visitors), Sivasthan, Than Anodat, Sakunchat Khuha, Thewasapa Samosornsathan, Kinnaratassana. , Pruksa Himmaphan, Thuy Thep Park.
The cave is open daily and a great spot to spend a few hours exploring. It’s 20 Baht to enter and great to see something different in the area.

This is a nice activity for the whole family. Another fun thing to do in Ratchaburi is to see a 10th century temple that is in the downtown area. Here is the video of it if you want to see.
