When a test consists of one lap around a track with a random car, with no mention of the tire specs and only 1 second difference between all 3, we can conclude that all of these cars won and are equal.

Norwell is a neat little track. Don't think I've ever seen it but the lack of run off on the long bend, drink on the other side of it if you lose it on oversteer exit + more lack of run off on the next bend would intimidate me. Good job you got Atko in the seat :)
M2 should me compared to TT RS because RS3 and A45 amg are 5 doors Hot hatches not 2 doors Coupe like M2 and TT RS... And TT RS is more concerned to track.

Take a second and think about what you just said. BMW designs cars for tracks. Audi and Merc design cars for real life, that can still keep up on the track. Id love to see that M2 in the rain or snow. lol
I find it funny that we have a pro driver doing faster laps in a rear wheel drive car, it is not something any random off the street would be able to replicate without crashing. Let regular people see how fast they can get around a track without wiping out and we would see a difference.

If i was gonna go Mercedes,it will be the all new C coupe. Audi will make you happy with its nice interior and functionality,but it just looks bland..,however,if you want to play safe,and you live somewhere North,Quattro is good choice. When I saw that they were putting water on the track, I was expecting to see a wet lap... And that would change the game, for sure! Don't get me wrong, I love the M2, but where I live, I have at least 30% of the days with wet roads. And is almost impossible to extract all that power in those conditions, from a M2.
Good review, although it would have been much more interesting if the pro driver elaborated in more on each car. For example, the A45 was found prone to oversteer in the corners more than the RS3 which was recently discounted by AutoExpress for the very same reason of too much understreer. As for the M2 it is clearly a very capable car. So, in my opinion, such comparisons are clearly extremely dependent on 1. Driver's own preferences and driving style as well as preconceived expectations of the driven car, 2. Road and/or Track type and conditions; 3) Tyres used by each car. Therefore, to create a truly objective comparison a test must include at least 2 pro drivers who would drive the cars back to back both on track and road. This should be followed by briefing on each car’s strengths and weaknesses and overall rating for the road, track and daily use. This would be something interesting, although quite time consuming and expensive to make. Anyhow, my two cents.
Why are you comparing the M2 with the RS3 and not with the TTRS? RS3 and M2 are not exactly in the same class. You're comparing 4 door hatchbacks with a 2 door coupe?
2 series is coupe version of 1 series, so its the same segment with RS3 and A45. Z4 is the TT's rival, not M2. It's like blaming for comparing M4 with RS4. The main thing is the chassis, not the cars looks.

But I can assure u that my need for the M2 is not getting smaller - just praying that BMW will get their stuff together and deliver my car which I ordered even before launch in the middle of october... Mine will be MT aswell, Long Beach Blue though. Right now I am driving an M135 XD while I am waiting. A great car, but far from the M2.
and when it snow's the m2 will stay put . in uk we have more wet weather than dry so the 4wheel drive will come into its own then . i like rs3 then a45 having the 4doors more room makes them the car i would pick for everyday using on normal roads in uk

If you're comparing hot hatch cars, you should've used the 1 series instead of that M2. Also, comparing hot hatches won't be complete without the king of hot hatches, the Golf R.
All nice cars but even converting AU to US the M2 was around $63k...for 365 to 400hp...too many other options for that price range. Auto manufacturers are getting WAY out of hand with their pricing.

well I got no probs with this kind of video, I am an AMG fans, not really surprised with this result, coz the have different engines... talkin about the basic here... A 45 = 2.0L 4 cyl Rs 3 = 2.5L 5 cyl M 2 = 3.0L 6 cyl well my conclusion, it all depends with the driver lol

How can you compare cars that are AWD against RWD cars, and do a rolling start? All that extra weight from having AWD just becomes useless. Such a stupid comparison. You should compare from standing starts, like a proper track race....
Stupid? You mean like choosing a format that clearly favours one drive train over another? The AWD generally suffers more on mid corner power down so testing them on a track like QR would have favoured the M2, there is only one on this track so it's a pretty good compromise. You do have a point though, the .7 second deficit the Bimmer has off the 0-100 would have been made up on the lap making the margin .1 of a second to the Audi and .3 to the Merc.
Maybe they should also do it in the wet to make it fair for awd cars. Looked pretty fair to me other than bmw being a manual and merc having cup tyres (I think)

Every major motoring journalism have been about track, we all know the M2 is the fastest around a track... but what about on the road? We live in bloody Australia, where speed limit is so low, and 95%+ buyers of these cars won't drive the car anywhere near a track. How about some normal reviews.

Comparing 4 Zylinder Motors with 6 or 5 Zylinder is a joke. It's like you compare it with a C63 amg.
I have a feeling that the new Focus RS will be quicker than the M2 when it comes time for another comparison.We just have to wait and see.I enjoyed the comparison but I gave your a thumbs down because I saw a drift in the M2.Any car test in which I see any drift I will thumb it down,no matter how good the video is.Drifting has had it use by date,enough is enough.

well I got no probs with this kind of video, I am an AMG fans, not really surprised with this result, coz the have different engines...
talkin about the basic here...
A 45 = 2.0L 4 cyl
Rs 3 = 2.5L 5 cyl
M 2 = 3.0L 6 cyl
well my conclusion, it all depends with the driver lol

I have to agree with the result, I am trading my A45 for a c63s soon, but M cars are killers on the tracks. I wish all BMW cars have a better interior, it is just too outdated for my taste.

The Audi and Merc are cars for people who wanna go fast, but don't know how to drive.
How can you compare cars that are AWD against RWD cars, and do a rolling start? All that extra weight from having AWD just becomes useless. Such a stupid comparison. You should compare from standing starts, like a proper track race....

Stupid? You mean like choosing a format that clearly favours one drive train over another? The AWD generally suffers more on mid corner power down so testing them on a track like QR would have favoured the M2, there is only one on this track so it's a pretty good compromise.
You do have a point though, the .7 second deficit the Bimmer has off the 0-100 would have been made up on the lap making the margin .1 of a second to the Audi and .3 to the Merc.
Maybe they should also do it in the wet to make it fair for awd cars. Looked pretty fair to me other than bmw being a manual and merc having cup tyres (I think)

Come on caradvice, you can do better than just track battle like everyone else! Every major motoring journalism have been about track, we all know the M2 is the fastest around a track... but what about on the road? We live in bloody Australia, where speed limit is so low, and 95%+ buyers of these cars won't drive the car anywhere near a track. How about some normal reviews.
