We did a few dates together in 1970 when i played in Black Widow in Germany i think i remember they missed the boat home and we never saw them again !!!!
One of the best voices I've ever heard. Amazing band too. Really a shame they never made it big (or at least, bigger), they definitely deserved more recognition.
After Affinity Linda Hoyle released her only solo album "pieces of me" with members of the first Nucleus line up..In 1973 she played a gig with SoftMachine in Hamburg/Germany. As far as I know, she later married Jazz legend Pete King and went to Canada. (That was told to me 20 years ago at least ) Pete King died a couple of days ago....(rip)
My favorites from this album were All Along the Watchtower (it was the first version I heard of the song) and Coconut Grove (also heard this version before the Lovin' Spoonful's original). Great album, period.
amazing...amazing...amazing...amazing!!!! it's just amazing!!!! I want this music!! I want back to late '60 and very early '70!! I hate today's pop rock music!!
This song is so great. It reminds me . of Sweetwater from 1969 with Nancy singing. Like Affinity, they only made one great lp before Nancy had her car wreck.
Great Julie Driscoll/Brian Auger-tinged music that's got a style its own. As an interesting tidbit, Lynton Naiff, who worshipped Brian, ended up buying a B3 that Brian used to use after Affinity was able to scrape together a bit of money. Maybe that's another reason why the sound is so similar. Lynton ended up with a group called Toe Fat... Linda went on to a bit of a solo career.
One of my fave prog albums. Been in the frequent listen stack for months. I got a Vertigo retrospective about a year ago and Three Sisters really stuck out. Got this album and am still devouring it. The whole disc has this trippy, otherworldly, dream like quality to it. Excellent band and vocals. A real shame they parted ways so soon. I like Linda Hoyles solo disc, but it lacks the magic of Affinity. I highly recommend this album!
Never hear of Affinity B4. Really dig the structure of this tune. Floods of space, celestial moodiness and power driving percussion. Luv v chord changes & sudden mood shifts. I'd stack the keyboards against Purp's version of Kentucky Woman. Wow...wat's the fuzzy, bluesy guitar patch ending off of?
in the calm slow parts she sounds a bit like Norma Winstone from early 70s uk fusion band Ian Carr's Nucleus, and her many jazz albums which are great too.
Incredible piece of an incredible album...never forget this music.
my favorite song off of one of my favorite records in my collection!!!! I found this in a FLEA MARKET WHEN I WAS 11 years old!!!!!
NO CONOCÍA ESTE GRUPO ¡¡TEMAZO!!! ESE HORGANO 🎹🎹🎹🎹👌

They are Similar to
Jefferson airplane
@@claudiodaros6836 ... for me more similar to Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger. But great anyway!
This is beautiful. Did not know about Affinity - I marveled at the absence of women in "prog rock" and was directed here.

Too long since I last listened to Affinity - that Hammond B3 absolutely ruled the 70s!!

Reminds me a bit of It's A Beautiful Day. :)
@NeilThompson30 I did used to have it on video and my VHS of it snapped, so gutted! I do have Linda's tv performances as a solo artist though!
Linda Hoyle, great female vocalist? Why wasn't she better known?
Channelling my inner Christopher Walken i would posit that I had exactly the right amount of cowbell.
Anyone remember Affinity on TV in 1970.
It was one of them teatime 6 o'clock shows (nationwide?)
So wonderful. Beautiful voice. Thank you for sharing! Do they have more records?
Actually they have 6 albums with minor changes in personnel

@NeilThompson30 There was a BBC programme which devoted an edition to them, called On the Road, yes. Is that what you mean?
Brilliant stuff!
They are similar to Jefferson airoplane
