My father had ALS and committed suicide 27 years ago. When Robin took his life I was inconsolable. It's hard for any of us to cope with that depth of sadness in someone that makes us laugh. Funny actually that I won those silly awards in school and up until now meet new people and get compliments on my humor but can say behind "closed doors" even the best days I think about not being here anymore. I suffer so nobody that loves me will at my loss to them in their own way especially my 3 year old granddaughter. My purpose. Be careful what you say to others not knowing how much they may suffer and dont judge others pain. It's not your judgement that holds his pain.

“Don’t associate yourself with toxic people. It’s better to be alone and love yourself than surrounded by people that make you hate yourself.”
“Real loss is only possible when you love something more than you love yourself.”
“Being in the same room with people and creating something together is a good thing.”
“I’m a very tolerant man, except when it comes to holding a grudge."
“Boys, you must strive to find your own voice, because the longer you wait to begin the less likely you are to find it at all.”
“Sometimes you can have a whole lifetime in a day and never notice that this is a beautiful as it gets.”
“Good people end up in Hell because they can’t forgive themselves.”
“A human life is just a heartbeat in heaven.”
“When I was growing up they used to say, “Robin, drugs can kill you.” Now that I’m 58 my doctor’s telling me, “Robin, you need drugs to live.” I realise now that my doctor is also my dealer"
“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”

To be blunt, having that brilliant mind trapped within a betraying body, fragmenting from his dementia...no.
Suicide is the absolute worst thing you can do to the people who care about you. I've considered it many, many times. But rembered what I went through when my best friend killed himself in '93. That keeps me going.
But, if I develop Alzheimer's, dementia, otherwise begin to lose the person I am, instead of letting my family and loved ones suffer through it, I'll kill myself.
I love Robin. Always will. I am still affected by his death. But, I would rather he, as he did, exit on his own terms, than suffer for us, fade into a private hell for himself and his closest loved ones, and die, himself only in the body he inhabited, not in his mind or spirit.

What's really interesting about both Robin and Carrie is how they were both incredibly heavy addicts who struggle with addiction their entire lives. Carrie even had traces of multiple drugs in her system found during her autopsy. Both brought so much joy and inspiration to hundreds of thousands of people. It's terrible how the greatest people among us are often the ones who suffer the most behind closed doors.

The clip where he says "thank you for the standing ovation". I watched that LIVE while I was recovering from Achilles Tendon surgery (my third thank you), I went and bought the DVD. I really needed cheering up with that one.

This was my first exposure to a celebrity death. I was only 10 and already thought of suicide, but you could say he saved me. Thank you for everything, Robin.

I liked him in the movie "Jack." It was a bittersweet movie like that his life took towards his end. Never enough time.

I couldn't bring myself to watch videos detailing the reason for his decision. This video is the first time I got to know about it. Thank you.
He will always be O Captain! My Captain to me. Miss you, Sir.

Thank you, Robin. You made my childhood a very happy place, as you did my adulthood. It's just so sad that you suffered in your own life, you gave your everything to make us smile and laugh, I hope you're at peace, the world was rich with you, and it's also very poor without you too, RIP, legend.

    1. Flubber was one of the earliest movies I remember going to see with my family.
    2. Goodwill Hunting made me cry, because it was/is so relevant, to my life
    3. Hook, because Robin Williams always reminded us to keep our youthful spirit! Enjoy life throughout the growing pains.
Thank you Robin Williams! You are one of the coolest and most influential people. Awesome video, I learned a lot about this great man!

I remember my friend Joe had never gotten to see Robin’s stand up back when we were in High School together. Joe had difficulty learning and he was just such a kind person that he never heard dirty jokes like Robin Williams told. I told him some of them and then one day he came to my house unannounced and we watched Robin’s 2002 HBO Special and just laughed until we could barely breathe. Unfortunately, Joe has also since passed away. He was struck by a truck while riding his bike. I miss him immensely and now I always link him and Robin Williams together. But more importantly I remember us just laughing until we couldn’t take it. So thank you Robin Williams for all of the entertainment and for making me closer to a great friend. 😌

Thanks for the memories . A person we miss so very much. A true Talented genius of comedy and drama King that made us laugh and cry in many different ways. Hope something was passed on to his children and they are living in peace by now. He was somebody to be proud of and left greater memories of better times. We all suffered something but It's great we only saw the good side. Rip. R.W. 2021

Growing up. Each time I saw him on tv I would be so happy. To me, he reminded me of my dad. Mrs Doubtfire was my all time favorite film.
