Hard to tell just how hard these guys hit the scene back then. You either had pop rock on the radio or heavy metal at home on cassette. For these guys to just come out of nowhere and make hard rock a thing again was huge.
From 68 on forward , age 15 , hard rock dominated my music taste . Who and Mountain , Ten Years After and Cactus .That loud rock on a blues base is still being made today . People will always want a boogie .
Isn’t it amazing how most of GenX’s Rock and Roll music puts a smile on everyone’s face and lifts their spirits up so high… 😊 I miss these times… ♥️ this so much… No anger, just lifted everyone away from the craziness of our world… 🙏
Love it! Great choice. I'm going to say this every video... I don't know how you do this on a phone. 😅 Amazing! My favorite visual in this video is when Axle takes of his sunglasses, throws them to the ground and just starts going nuts. I feel that way on the inside every time I hear the song. lol
@@shotaholic1 Same here. Yet another band that was instrumental to me personally in my formative years. I forgot to mention... love the timing with the music!
@@WonderMommaOG thank you and speaking of timing…tbh, when I added that spiral transition with the whistle, I got so freakin excited that the timing was so well.
My morning flashback, I'm 50something but in late 80's me and my friends skipped the beach for Spring break. We drove 14hrs to campout and see Guns and Roses ❤ OMG we rocked it 😂😂 As don't Crank it up as loud but I ❤it just as much. Thank you 😊
2:29 arguably one of the best bands of the 80s when I hear this song I think of my 17 year old self in the car with my friends driving up and down the strip in our small town. With all the other kids we had nothing else to do so we rode up and down the strip and jammed out to guns n' roses Megadeth all that
Appetite for Destruction is a legendary album. It marked a point in time that was damn near magical and I don't think we'll ever see another time like it. Appetite for Destruction is also an alchemical album of sorts. Think about this: The first song is Welcome to the Jungle. You're born and you are also born into a world of sh*t. It's So Easy is next and when you're young, it IS easy. Everybody takes care of you and you really have no worries except what time certain cartoons are gonna be on next Saturday morning. At least, that's way it was in the 80's. Then, you hit your teen years and you start getting experimenting with alcohol. That would be Nightrain. After a few years of this and dealing with REAL life issues like finishing school, beginning college or looking for a job, maintaining that job and paying bills and dealing with all the craziness of simple everyday life. You know, some people you grew up with who were your best chums in elementary school oftentimes seem to change and seem to come around only when they want something or they need you to do something for them. That's when it seems like, in the words of Axl Rose, "everybody is Out Ta Get Me" and you become paranoid. How do some people deal with life's stresses like this? Drugs and who has those drugs? Mr. Brownstone. Eventually, you overdose and die. Then, you go to Paradise City. Guns N' Roses rocks, y'all. 🤘🤘
Grew up with Guns and Roses....was in seventh grade when Appetite for Destruction was released. It fascinates me how someone has never heard of them or their music. But I think how many years that was and how I didn't know every rock group decades before me.
The video shows live performance ( from Met Life stadium in NJ were the Giants and Jets play Football ) but the sound your All hearing is of the Album Appetite for Destruction .
my uncle bought a cassette when it came out. I liked it and asked if I could borrow it. week after week, I kept “forgetting” to bring it back. so eventually, he took it back and that Christmas he gave me my own copy!
such an awesome time in my life, 6 months to go before going to the army, working as a barman, the girls were pretty and forgiving, the parties were plentiful and fun. '92
Whatever you think about music,,etc. "Take me down to the Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty." is just great Perfect rock lyric and if you think about it - would be great Rap lyric
A little G 'n R for a mashup. I certainly prefer them for Appetite For Destruction and the Use Your Illusion albums. After that I don't care much for their stuff. But then you have a guitarist like Slash and I certainly like him.
I nailed an ex girlfriend listening to this song back in the 80's. Not going to lie, wasn't great for either of us but practice makes perfect. Stopped trying years ago. The cost ain't worth it 😊
This is my teen years personified GNR ruined an opportunity for me to see Metallica because axel didn’t feel like playing the show that night so the concert was cancelled. This was 1993. Metallica didn’t make it back Tulsa Oklahoma until 2019 and I was finally able to mark them off my bucket list. I’m still pissed at Axel!
I'm born 81 and I rock my little azz to GNR and Metallica as well. Me and the neighbors kids used to "be" the band with me as Axl 😆 absolutely hilarious to remember back too. I probably still can most of the lyrics to all the songs. But man, I would have been pissed as well. Sadly, Axl had that diva side to him. What an opportunity to be missed. I feel you're right to still be pissed at Axl for that
Actually it says: Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man and his number is 666. It refers to the fact that in the end satan will take the human form of the antichrist before the second coming of Christ. Sorry I’m the son of a Baptist minister. It just comes out.
Ah... great memories of my school days.. back when music used to be free of woke agenda! Performers had stage presence without jazzy and loud costumes, unnecessary backup dancers, and overbearing music drowning signer's voice... just pure passion and fun!
Slash had his top hat from the beginning and I recollect that he was the biggest attention grabber before they really took off. Slash was what caused people to double take then shut up and watch the video. Back in those days MTv was all about music and there was no internet or DVR so if you missed the little blurb of the band and title info in the bottom corner of your tv screen you were totally SOL and had to wait until they played the video again. Guns and Roses were a phenomenon and it’s impossible to convey just how huge they were at the time. I don’t believe we will ever witness anything like that again. I’m so glad I was there when they hit. 😎

Glamrock had become a gimmick by that point. It was like ‘party music’. And then G’nR came through with serious rock music. It hit like a bomb.
I was there! Hardest hitting debut of all time. Met them in Columbus Oh at Papa Joe's night before they played Buckeye Lake!
Dokken was rocking pretty hard back then.
Many people said this album saved rock music, at least for while.
such a kick ass song! glad this one was done. this whole album is just amazing.

It is one of the greatest breakdowns in music history. Every band member just goes all out. I love it!
Also always thought Izzy was underrated as a rhythm guitarist.
Well if he is it's only because he gets so much love as a songwriter
Consider in him and I play the same instrument. He's one of my favorites too
And as a songwriter
Duffs bass too I feel
He was the Keith to Slash’s Mick Taylor
As a teenager at the last years of the 80's it was so cool, because those years & that kind of music is Forever! 🤟🐯👍

We were partying in Ocean City MD in 87 when this came out. Man, the parties we had. Jesus.
Too much beer, too much whiskey, too much weed and way too much cocaine. lol

The 80s! Best decade for music!
1000% 😊
Sad that we just had this legendary line-up for one full album. They lost the grit and looseness when Izzy and Adler left.
