I used to be a over the road truck driver from 1992 until 2020 this song feels like he was talking to us truckers, I always felt like a cowboy always on the road a different city every day family always waiting for you to get back home, driving all night Cross country to make it back home for 7 days off with family then back on road for another 21 days. My son would cry every time I hade to leave. My First 20 miles leaving home was the hardest 😢

I saw Bon Jovi in 89 in Pensacola Florida and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Skid Row opened up for them. Awesome concert.
Saw that same show my senior year of HS and Skid Row blew them off the stage
This song reminds me of what I used to be, what once was, and what could have been. It's a very inspiring tune, and one of their best.
My sister would have been happy with this one. Bon Jovi was her favorite band. I never was a big fan. There are a couple of songs I like. This is one of them.

This song uses Old West cowboy imagery to describe the lonely life of a rock star. At the time, starting with their debut album in 1984, Bon Jovi played about 300 shows a year, using the remaining time to work on albums. When it came time to write for their third album, Slippery When Wet, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora wrote this song about what they knew: performing to lots of people who all blended together after a while.

I remember buying the Slippery When Wet album when it came out on cassette back in 1989. 1989 was also the year I saw Bon Jovi and Skid Row in concert in Pensacola Florida. It was February 4th, 1989.

I absolutely loved this song as a 17 yr old when released and is on my top 5 to this day...unfortunately to my disappointment the one chance to see it live was not a good experience..its a studio song for sure...I remember thinking Cinderella as far as a live band blew them away and they were definitely no Motley Crue live

Sometimes i forget my age, because it still shocks me that there's people who don't know Bon Jovi. They were the first album (yes album) I owned when I got my first stereo the Christmas Slippery When Wet hit the stores.

We rock fans always dismissed the Bon Jovis of this world out of hand. It was considered chick rock. That is not to say that we changed the station when one of his songs came on.

Im amazed when i see reactors older then my kids say they never heard these songs. Didnt your parents ever play music from their generation? My kids are mid 20s, know all these songs. Thats sad
My parents loved this song, and my mom is south Indian and father Iraqi. I remember my parents taking long drives from Jacksonville Florida to see family in ft myers. My parents would get us rowled up and sing this song together😂
