Hey man, love the opening shot! caught me so off guard but proper put a smile on my face! I want to say a massive thank you for inspiring me to run a marathon and document it all on RUclips! Good luck with Boston man, can't wait to see more of the series!
I’m sitting here, forcing myself to take some time off due to shin splints issues and your videos remind me why I am taking time off, so eventually I can do what you do. Keep going Eric!!
The strength work you’re doing will definitely see you right for the hills of Boston - you got this. The practice you do outside on runs is a bonus 👍🏻 the hills ain’t that bad. Keep up the good work 🙌🏻🏴
It’s great to see you balancing quality time with your loved ones and high volume training! Many of us are in the same situation and it feels good to see this. Also thank you for putting KM/H in your vids lol. Been following from France for a while now and it definitely gives some good perspective on your paces! Great content, keep grinding, good luck with Boston.
Been absolutely loving this series so far man. Been striking a chord with me talking about balancing training and family life, always appreciate your perspective on that. Keep up the good work ❤️🔥
I love seeing you are implementing strength training in this block. Along with having a coach and wanting to improve your nutrition, it is clear you are committed to covering all your bases and leaving no stone in your training unturned. Best wishes in your sub 2:35:00 prep!
Dude, your videos give me goosebumps! I downloaded the Chicago videos to watch on flight for my first trained half marathon (we don't have wifi on flights yet). Ended up getting my PB by over 15 mins! Going to repeat the ritual now.
If you are looking for more hills the lakewood forest preserve in Lake County has a one mile loop that is hilly for Illinois. It also has a sledding hill that is good for hill repeats. If you want to drive even further, the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest has some rolling hills at either the nordic trails (mowed grass) or the Ice Age trail (single track) especially near bald bluff. Also, the Chi town half marthon/10k is april 6th, so not exactly in march but close.
You should check out waterfall glen in Dupage. 12 mile limestone loop with some really great up and down hills. One of my favorite and more tough spots to run in the Chicagoland area growing up! Miss it a lot since moving away.
Your elevation/hill problem is similar but opposite to mine. Living in upstate New York, it feels near impossible to find flat roads for longer than 1/4 mile when I’m going to race Carmel in April
Nutrition and a healthy diet are so important also for my mental well-being. I Try to focus on it a lot. It is hard though, especially on busy and long days... I Can't image how stressful it might be as a parent on top of all you are doing :)
Really enjoying your journey thus far! Thank you for sharing. There are some great hills around Kildeer that I found recently. I heard there some nice hills near Cary as well. Not a lot of hills in Illinois but there a few.
Another half marathon recommendation is the heart mini half marathon in Cincinnati Ohio. It’s on March 17. It’s very hilly so it will be a good course to run before Boston.
Hey Eric. Would love to hear more about the strength training you’re doing. How do they feel? Are you RPEing 8-10 on each for example, or mainly cruising through them and focusing on being consistent? How’s the legs feeling the day after the workout? Does it impact your running is form being impacted from DOMS the day or two after? I’m trying to be consistent with my strength training this block and would love some inspo!
Didn't see that opening with Lil' Flo coming 🤔. Hopefully you can keep da' boyz engaged in fitness through your pursuit. So far I have been unsuccessful with my 3 boys (24, 19 & 16) to motivate them through my running. Oh well, at least they haven't become a photographer like me 🤷.
Really enjoy your content. Interesting to see how you’re working in hills to prepare for Boston. Do you think ‘early and often’ is the trick? Or better to focus on it during the ‘sharpening’ phase of a block? I ran CIM and the first half rollers thrashed the quads. Definitely a lesson learned but still trying to figure best way to implement
Be careful doing longer runs with decline. I live in Naperville and always had issues Boston’s first 13 miles of decline wrecking my legs. I rigged a 2” board under the rear of my treadmill, did a 10 miler that way and my quads were destroyed for a week. Gradual build on that would have been much better. 👍🏻
What kind of tendonitis do you have? I’m dealing with hip flexor tendonitis right now (I think) and am curious if you had to take an extended break from running or if you were able to train through it? I took a full month off from running with daily stretching and PT and am easing back into things but still don’t feel 100%
My hero 11 died during my 11°F run today, so I feel that. Today was supposed to be a vlog, so we will see what I was able to get haha. My reaction was like yours, it had a full battery and everything, such a bummer😂
Touching on the nutrition aspect. What are your thoughts on using one of those diabetic bands to check your carb/sugar spikes during runs? That would be some great knowledge for optimizing your timing on gels. P.S. I bought the Pace 3 and armband two days ago, loving it already. 🥳
I made the mistake of using HR to govern how I was running. After 3 marathons and 50k in 2022, my buddy Heath (who's a 2:40 marathoner and now a 2x 100 miler) told me I ned to get my feel back. 2023 was a year of getting my feel back, because that's how I trained for my fastest marathon.
I have the same problem with my GoPro even if i have the enduro battery it turns off when i have 40-% left and it’s cold outside😂 when i have it on 4K, works better with 1080p
Bro, come on out to Pennsylvania, we’ll shoot some stuff and I can get you so much hill work it’s ridiculous 😂 Can’t wait to see how this series plays out, homie 🤘🏼
hey eric, i like that you speak a lot of how your heart rate is at variant runs. For reference, what is your max heart rate at approximately? It would make it more relatable for someone as me who is not as fast but i could still compare it to my runs as for the percentage of max heart rate rather than trying to comparing the different paces.
That intro made me laugh, good one. I want to get your (or anybody elses) insights on not hitting the training goals. Today I went for a long run (~15miles), but at the moment I set my feet outside I immediately knew it's not going anywhere today. After 2 miles I had to give up and go back home. How do you treat such a defeat? Would you repeat that workout the next day? Or would you rest for a few days, and keep on track with the plan, therefore ditch that one workout?
I NEED that bulls hat, drop that link homie. Also I don’t get the hate in the comments about BPN, Sellout? Confused. BPN makes good products. Nick has built a brand himself and lead by example. Isn’t that like, the American dream? Anyway high quality video good content appreciate the honesty.
Floberg has jumped the shark. He’s a commercial now. The lifecycle of everyone who starts out pure, gains a following, and now they’re an “influencer”. No hate, just observing. Flowy is now a BPN guy, owned by Nick Bare, another influencer who dopes and cashed in on his tainted results. Sad to see Flowy join that but you gotta chase the $$$. Hope the pay is worth it.
I can understand what you are saying but I don”t see it that way. For example, where I live I train using 4Nduranze and Myprotein products which work very well with me. If I start a channel, of course I would tell people what I use for fuelling. If the company/s would contact me for promotion code, of course I would do it because that is what I am using. It”s not like he says ”use them” but in fact he is not using them and does it only for the money. Plus, he has to make a living. I don”t see where the problem is if he is genuine. For a watch I am and will be a Garmin fan. Love the Fenix line. Again, same story. If I became a Garmin ambassador of course I would promo them because I do use their products.
I don’t get this vibe from Floberg. He’s made a lot of progress and his videos are high quality, it was a matter of time before someone offered him products or sponsorships. Ultimately all these videos are a form of entertainment for viewers, I don't mind people who create the content on this platform getting paid for it. If I feel they are pushing too many products just for bucks, I stop watching but this channel still does the content we signed up for long time ago. Just my two cents.
Apparently you have no idea that Eric has a successful business himself and that his running channel is something he does purely because he enjoys it? I’m also quite sure ambassadors for brands don’t get paid either (and even if Nick did send a few bucks his way it would be nothing more than change for coffee) Also, a bit of advice: when you speak in absolutes it immediately devalues your opinion on a matter. Yes, Nick is very likely using peds, but you can’t say that he ‘dopes’ purely based on your feelings. And I don’t care how much gear someone uses- running sub 2:40 at close to 200lbs is a phenomenal accomplishment.
@@sergiutelbisz1955well yeah he’s going to promote what he’s paid to promote. We only see him use it on camera…nobody knows if it’s true off camera. As soon as he takes the money to promote something then he loses credibility. That’s not just true to Flowy, who does seem like a good dude, but is true for any dynamic that exists where someone is getting paid for product placement. So when I say he “jumped the shark” that’s what I’m referring to. I think it’s especially troubling that he’s taking the pay from a clear doper who also runs, Nick Bare. I don’t think these things are good for the running community, but that’s just my opinion. Everyone gets to have theirs.
Hey man, love the opening shot! caught me so off guard but proper put a smile on my face! I want to say a massive thank you for inspiring me to run a marathon and document it all on RUclips! Good luck with Boston man, can't wait to see more of the series!
chitown half marathon and 10k? it's April 6 though
I’m sitting here, forcing myself to take some time off due to shin splints issues and your videos remind me why I am taking time off, so eventually I can do what you do. Keep going Eric!!
Hopefully you're working on strengthening that area!
@@sofiaperalta9091yep! Doing my strength training and stretching!
Love the progress dude, I’m an 18 yo doing 70-80 miles training for a sub 14:50 5k, I respect the mileage grind
whats your running plan sub 15 is brazy
The strength work you’re doing will definitely see you right for the hills of Boston - you got this. The practice you do outside on runs is a bonus 👍🏻 the hills ain’t that bad. Keep up the good work 🙌🏻🏴
Third episode of the Boston build & can tell this is going to be a good one for you man. Doing everything you need to progress!
It’s great to see you balancing quality time with your loved ones and high volume training! Many of us are in the same situation and it feels good to see this. Also thank you for putting KM/H in your vids lol. Been following from France for a while now and it definitely gives some good perspective on your paces! "only hit 60 miles on Week 3" -- that's still massive, man! You're rocking it!
I’m not even a runner but I love your channel. You make me want to be a runner. Love your work, from Australia ❤
All the things your kids are learning because of your running. So cool.
Great intro. Love it when our kids take interest in what we do.
Dude, your videos give me goosebumps! I downloaded the Chicago videos to watch on flight for my first trained half marathon (we don't have wifi on flights yet). Ended up getting my PB by over 15 mins! Going to repeat the ritual now.
Damn, that opening shot, so powerful! Been loving this series, keep up the work, you inspired me to hunt down a 3.15 at the end of march myself!
quality production, honest and real, love the grind. big inspiration. let's get it
The bonk/well I’m back at 11:06 really sent me into a 5 minute laughter
Love me Boston, great video!
I’ve been training on the Boston course (heartbreak hill) and I think you are going to crush it with all the strength work!
you’re a legend, Floberg!
can’t believe you’re already going for 2:35 when I haven’t caught you at 2:39 first.
can’t you wait up please?? 😅
Rock the Parkway half marathon in KCMO is one of my favorite halves ever. Happens April 7th, fast rolling course with a great crowd!
Love it brother! Another solid week in the books, Boston ain't ready!

Class video. Love the realness
Thanks for all the videos and inspiration! I bought a Ciele hat because of you…it’s definitely making me faster 💪😁
All this with 4 kids! Helluva grind man. Get it!
Have you tried running the fox valley race in Illinois? They have a 5k, 10k, half marathon, 20-miler and marathon! 🙌
Another great video Eric. I struggle with S&C and am also trying to myself accountable in the block I am in.
Your amazing man keep up the hard work.
Waterfall glen is a godsend for us IL folk, 9.3 mile loop.

Can you make a video on you lighting setup? I love the light patterns
There's a half in Cary Grove on March 17th, hilly course...would be a good pre boston heat check. Race is called Hillstriders March Madness.
Loving this series!
Go One More Eric!
Sam Costa quarter marathon or half marathon is march 23rd in Carmel, IN or the Carmel races in early April!
St.Louis Creve Coeur half marathon!! ❤March 16th
Your elevation/hill problem is similar but opposite to mine. Living in upstate New York, it feels near impossible to find flat roads for longer than 1/4 mile when I’m going to race Carmel in April
Lol, as someone from Indy I also do overpass repeats to get some hills in
Watching this at 11:20pm when I have to wake up at 6:40 tomorrow, hearing that Eric is going to bed at 10:30pm
Nutrition and a healthy diet are so important also for my mental well-being. I Try to focus on it a lot. It is hard though, especially on busy and long days... I Can't image how stressful it might be as a parent on top of all you are doing :)

Rock the parkway in KC it’s fun and 15 days before Boston!
“I can open it by myself!” 😤🤣
Another half marathon recommendation is the heart mini half marathon in Cincinnati Ohio. It’s on March 17. It’s very hilly so it will be a good course to run before Boston.
If you’re looking for a training course with lots of rolling hills, I recommend Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve!
Just recommended this before seeing your comment. Easily the best place for hills in Chicago.
Just found your channel. Good stuff 👍

South Shore Half Marathon Milwaukee April 6th or First Call Half-marathon, Waukesha, March 24.
Chi Town half on the lakefront on 4/6, gonna be electric
OMG 0:12 seconds 😊
Gotta hit some hill sprints up a landfill in Illinois
Lock in!
For the downhill training, walk backwards on your treadmill with the motor off. Build up to 10-15 minutes. Your quads will thank you.
Tune up race: come race NYC half!! There’s only charity spots left and it’s kinda hilly and not in the Midwest…. But minor details 😂
How about Cary half. March 17
Oh and Cary has plenty of hills 😊
At this rate or progress, mans is about to OTQ in 2028
