Their customer support is absolutely shocking. Took me 3 months to get a refund and I had to ship to China for almost 40 dollars. They ignored all emails for a month.
I’ve been using these for about two, two and a half months. Can definitely recommend them, except for one issue: the left bud has a low-level white / flapping noise that I wasn’t able to get rid of, at least on mine. Plural. I returned one pair because of it, thinking it a defect, but as the second pair had the same identical issue, I just got used to it. It’s nothing you’ll really hear when walking / exercising / biking outside, though, so it doesn’t cause issues with the main use case for me: being able to listen to navigation instructions and music while biking without compromising safety too much, as you can still hear your surroundings. The fact that the microphones work well for calls was an added bonus. Also: the silver one is a chrome, mirror finish. Great for a traditional cyberpunk look. EDIT 2023/12/03: The latest firmware update mitigates the issue by about 60%. The ’flapping’ noise in the left bud is now reduced to just a slightly punchier white noise. Great! Easily 9,5 / 10 earbuds now. 🙂
@@Luc-ep4qv I haven’t had any complaints from anyone so far! No-one’s ever even asked me the ’are you using headphones’ -question when taking calls with them. Interesting. I'm a huge fan of the Sony Link Buds because I prefer to have the openback for hearing stuff going on around me when I'm running or biking. This seems like a quality alternative. I think jumping rope would be the ultimate test for seeing how well your buds/phones/ wearable stereos(?) will do as far as staying on your head. It'd be nice to see some tech people give that a shot. I've never found anything I was satisfied with. These seem promising.
I use these headphone/bud/speakers and they are amazing for cycling. I used to have bone conduction headphones but they lacked bass, these are far superior and last for AGES between charges so you can go riding for hours with no worries.
I just switched to Shokz OpenRun which are also open ear but squeeze a bit much for their bone conduction tech. I really prefer the open ear because buds can give me a mild case of swimmer's ear after a while, as well as they just get skin and some ear wax on them. These maybe a good choice if they stay on as good as they did in the video, which is why I went with the OpenRun. A loop for a loose string would be nice if you don't want to risk losing one if they do get knocked off.
Listening to this on the original OWS-1! It really is more of a stereo listening experience than a regular earbud, and as someone who used to only use one earbud at a time (for noise transparency), these have been an absolute game changer! Would highly recommend any of the Oladance audio products!
The one thing I think you should also start testing with any and all headphones is how they feel for those who wear glasses, because the comfort level is always different for us. I would have bought these except they are more expensive then Shokz openFit. Definitely all day comfort compared to Powerbeats. These types of ear buds are great for audiobooks while still being able to hear your surroundings at work.
I was so close to picking one of these up for use as an open-backed pair of wireless headphones to combine with a BigScreen Beyond VR Headset, but unfortunately this only supports SBC audio codec and I need something with lower latency if possible.

Oh, i thought they were going to be reverse earbuds. Like instead of sounds going in your ear, they projected outward like Bluetooth speakers but on your head.
I wonder if they could do something with more speakers per ear and really go for the that natural surround experience. Might be interesting for movie watchers but might also be really popular with the VR crowd. In long VR sessions in ears become uncomfortable and over ears are just heavy and annoying together with the headset and I think realistic spacious 3d audio could be a great addition for VR.

This form factor looks really useful. I would absolutely buy these. How effective is the active noise cancellation though? Can I use these outside on a windy day and still hear my podcasts?
I've tried several types of these "open" ear buds, 1More, OWS, SHOKZ. The only one I will ever use are the Sony Linkbuds. The Wide Area Tap on the Linkbuds where you can just tap in front of your ears instead of pushing a button or an unreliable touch point on the buds is such a killer feature that it makes everything else unusable. I really hope Sony doesn't just abandon them and they release a updated version.
I've got the original OWS, they are amazing for what they are. But, they lack in deep bass, and the output is kinda weak. (Maybe my ears does not accept them good enough to have strong volume.) Paid around 300cnd. For 300$ you can get A LOT of a better sound. But if you're a fan of the design, they're pretty much best in class. Also battery life is amazing.
I have a pretty important question. Maybe you can help me! I want these so bad, but I'm allergic to nickel. Only with direct contact to my skin though. After a few emails to the company I became aware that the speaker mesh does not contain nickel however the contact points for the charging do. So my question is, while wearing these, do the contact points actually come in contact with the skin behind your ear?
If this can replace my Sony Linkbuds i'm all for it, those things fall out all the time, the batteries dont last for crap when new, and the little pinholes plug up with debris within a week
As usual with these sponsored videos, its not what is said, but what is NOT said. Considering this is an 11 minute video and only about 5 seconds is dedicated to how they actually sound, that speaks volumes.
This style of earbuds are what I'm looking for. I can't stand the 'cram in your canal' style. I have 1st gen Sony LinkBuds, but they died after 1 year of use. $230 is too much for any buds, imo, but maybe I'll keep an eye out for sales. The software looks pretty solid - better than Sony's app.
@@bymicromizeIf that were true, then I would still be technically correct - the best kind of correct. Regardless, I was differentiating the Link Buds I have with the Link Buds S, which shares a similar name but are entirely different product styles.
I'm super interested in things like this as a secondary (primary?) earbud for when I need to hear and am listening to something like podcasts or audiobooks where the sound quality isn't as important, and maybe sometimes music if they sound decent enough. The only problem is I don't want to spend high quality price for something like this when I only care about them for speech. If someone could make something like this way cheaper I'd be very up for it. On a side note about battery life, I've been wondering about this as well with true wireless buds. Idk why it's not more common to have the hook behind the ear design to be able to fit way more battery while also making earbuds much much more secure. I'd way rather have that even on in ear buds for the massive increase in battery life. Let alone the fact that they're less likely to come out, and if they do they're less likely to fall completely off of you to the ground, and if that somehow does happen, they're much easier to see/find since they're larger.
@@hord1827 I have passthrough on mine, but it's just not the same. I can't control the passthrough volume so it's still quieter than not having them in, and it still never sounds as open and natural as real unplugged ears. I thought they could end up making a rubbing or clicking sound, they both use the same space they will touch each other. And on top of that, how comfortable would the the extra space used by both be? So my question is, while wearing these, do the contact points actually come in contact with the skin behind your ear?
What about people who were glasses? Is it comfortable while wearing glasses?
If this can replace my Sony Linkbuds i'm all for it, those things fall out all the time, the batteries dont last for crap when new, and the little pinholes plug up with debris within a week
for refernce the Sony Link buds will fall out without moving my head, no matter what loop i use.
There is only one gen linkbud
Just spend a little more on your primary and use pass through mode?
I do that with my beats fit pro
@@hord1827 I have passthrough on mine, but it's just not the same. I can't control the passthrough volume so it's still quieter than not having them in, and it still never sounds as open and natural as real unplugged ears. Then there's always the issue of talking with your ears plugged adding a bunch of resonance of your own voice into your head.

Where is the test if it is comfortable with wearing glasses?
Ima go ahead and say they aren't
I have the original oladance and I wear glasses. You dont feel any discomfort. Your ear sticks out a little more but not painful by any means.
I thought they could end up making a rubbing or clicking sound, they both use the same space they will touch each other. And on top of that, how comfortable would the the extra space used by both be?
Im wearing glasses and use The HyperX Clouds over ear with foam, and sure they will cause warm ears and sometimes even a little sore spot on my left ear. They do the job well enough not to bother complaining ;)
@@hfitch I would not want to risk it, I know my ears will be irritated by bending forward by them. It's not a risk I would be willing to take, knowing my ears ;)
You might be lucky with your tolerance to your ears bending ;)
And yes how can anybody really predict how or what your ears will experience, let alone test for those scenario''s?
That is a valid question as well ;)
Hmmm......LOL
How loud do they sound to people around you? I've got the feeling that they're impractical because of that aspect alone

These would be great for work but unfortunately cant wear then on my right ear.
No built in storage for mp3?

I'm a little worried about sound bleeding out. I don't like to let others hear what I am listening to. Maybe I'll give it a go and hopefully my fears are unfounded
James, do you often have a seal in your ear? Mammal? Navy? or ...
i cannot imagine sleeping with earbuds in that just seems incredibly uncomfortable
