  • Why are millions of people leaving California and moving to other states? What do those states have that California doesn’t? PragerU’s first mini-documentary explores the root causes of this mass exodus from the Golden State. “Fleeing California,” featuring PragerU’s own Will Witt, sheds light on one of the most significant but underreported stories of our time.

That was awesome WW🔥 I am trying desperately to get my life in order on my own (without any family backing b/c the main sector is too unstable). I have moved 3 times in the last 5.5 years and that's no life for a females who wants stability. If Texas offered more funding options too finish college, job opportunities that I can actually be considered for and marriage possibilities (that's just as important to me as a job really but education and money is necessary to support yourself when you are single) I would move Texas in a heartbeat. I probably wouldn't move to Austin tho, I heard that was the worst city in Texas.

April Harmony check out various state National Guard programs. You are able to attend state colleges for free and most time they give you a small allowance. One weekend a month, 2 weeks a year isn’t bad and talk to your recruiter about any deployment concerns. Also, lots of hot guys and gals! (Kind of partial as I was in 20 years. Lol)

I was a native Californian, I lived there 50 years. When I retired from the Navy, I moved myself and my wife to Oklahoma because I saw what was happening and what was coming. It took us 5 years too get out of California without setting ourselves back financially with a solid exit plan. Those 5 years were pretty stressful. You're leaving family, friends, stability, you're leaving your place of birth and everything that makes you... you. We left about 3 years ago. Our kids (with our grandchildren) have both left California now as well. One moved to Alabama and one followed us to Oklahoma. Both decided it was also best for their families. Sadly, as Californians enter Texas, many bring the same ideology with them that destroyed California. Beware the cancer of liberalism.

I grew up in a small quiet town in northern Massachusetts, in the 80's. However, in the nineties lots of big city folks started fleeing those high cost decaying urban areas to settle in low-cost suburban and rural areas (places just 30 years ago people had left to pursue big city life). Well wouldn't you know they brought those same city life ideas (they sound good but are inherently flawed) to small towns and started demanding things like free bus service, parking meters, newly paved roads in front of their house, traffic lights, bigger stores, etc. - while they still commuted to the big towns for work. Things these little towns couldn't afford. That's when I realized the inherent flaw in this broadly "liberal" thinking.

Is it like a TX mindset where if you weren't born in Houston/Austin/etc, youre not a REAL Texan/American/patriot/etc? It's clear the majority of the non- Californians posting here have no idea how California got the way it is- it's not the majority that made those decisions; in the event you dislike a law in California you can sue in court and have your opinion inflicted on the majority- Proposition 8 (same sex marriage) is an excellent example of this. The politics? Its a single party state, so once a party is in power it takes a sweeping push to change. BTW, RUclips and Google- both based in California.

What people from outside CA don't realize is that voter fraud is rampant. On top of that, election rules were changed so that the two primary candidates with the most votes are eligible for the general election, regardless of party affiliation. So, in most races Republicans never get on the ballot. Still, there are more conservatives here than people think, and we're engaged. Besides, God loves California. It isn't over yet.

Its true that it has become nearly impossible for a middle-income person/family to live in California. Unfortunately, these same Californians, and some others, are creating the same problem in these states they are fleeing to. There isn't enough affordable housing to meet the influx and home prices are going nuts in Texas, Idaho, Colorado, Tennessee and many other places that are conservative. Many locals in these areas are not happy with the Californication of their states and towns. Many young, long-time locals can't afford to buy a house in their own home town as a result. Home prices have tripled and quadrupled over the last ten years or so in many areas. "Outsiders" are paying $25/50/60 thousand dollars or more, over the list price, for homes online, cash, sight unseen with no contingencies for the purchase. I don't blame people for wanting to leave California - I would too - but they bring a lot of baggage and change with them. Much of it not good.

In Texas we have politicians, like Senator Cruz, who actually understand economics. It's so refreshing to hear down-to-earth common sense from a politician, of all people. I grew up in California. If a politician spoke, it was usually total nonsense. The same is largely true with federal politicians. When I came to Texas, I was amazed how I could actually learn something from our politicians. They could actually teach me something I didn't understand. It's awesome!!
In California, my parent's 3 bed/2 bath home is appraised at around $500k. Here, in Texas, I bought my 3 bed/2 bath home for about $176k. I'm never doing to pay over $200k (ok, maybe $250k) for a home/property.
I'm 25 and have been making more than my parents ever did since I was about 22 years old.
People and businesses are fleeing here by the thousands, every year.
I have zero state income tax and far more freedom.
We just had New Year's. Back in California, there were only certain fireworks displays put on for the public. Here, in Texas, you buy them and light them yourself. You can literally get them as easily as if you go to the store to buy milk. There are some restrictions as far as what kinds and when you can buy them/light them. But, overall, there's no comparison to California.
Likewise, with firearms. I got my first two firearms a few weeks ago. You literally just pass a federal background check and fill out some paperwork. Honestly, you'll have more trouble buying a new car with a loan. I can at least 10 times more trouble buying my first home than I did getting a firearm.
You can pretty much name the measure, and Texas will likely at least be comparable to California. More likely, Texas will beat California by a mile. God bless the Lone Star State.

Arizona and Tennesee both have employers who pay low wages even tho housing/rentals have skyrocketed....especislly in 2023....it was already getting expensive very early into the pandemic....and a lot of other big cities cant even handle the rise in population.
Driving around the outskirts of Nashville is HORRIBLE because most roads are 1 or 2 lanes in each directions and you have very limited choices on how to reach a destination

OC WAS the most relevant consistently republican voting county for the last 40 years in the nation until last election cycle. 100% due to demographic change. My county, San Diego county had been consistently red until very recently with exception to the city of SD itself. I am SO TIRED of videos like this saying "Californians moving here making our state blue!" It's. not. true. Left wing people FLOCK to California. Native born Californians like me grow up here and have a multitude of values opposing those of the people who decide to move here due to political belief. I recommend Johnathan Haidt's 'The Righteous Mind' on this subject. People are born more consciousness or more cautiousness. I cannot help where i was born and raised, I can help where I go in this beautifully free USA. People like me are pushed more inland, away from the beaches and palm trees where the transplants move (as external demand jacks up price). We leave with reluctance because we cannot afford it here anymore... EVEN in our east county cowboy towns of Lakeside and Santee. Our friends and family live here, we have roots here. These transplants destroyed our state. Born and raised and afraid I have to move. I am one of MILLIONS of conservatives that have no voice because this state has gone so left. We don't vote left in the states we leave to. Demographic change is the reason Texas went purple. A simple geographic fact coupled with zero federal immigration enforcement an fantastic weather compared to the liberal minded northern frigid wastelands. It was only a matter of time in our globalized world.

Born and raised in CA, my father landed there after WWII and raised a family of 8 children. As I grew up in a staunchly democratic family I fell right into the mold of being a good democrat. l volunteered on the Carter campaign and even had the opportunity to attend a small group meeting with Carter. However, as the disastrous four years of Carter administration progressed, I moved backwards in almost all measurable ways, (sound familiar to today's issues?) I gradually realized what the democrat policies were doing to me, the state and the nation as a whole. By the time Regan came into office I had completed a 180 degree turn-around and backed Regan 100%. I was exiled from my family for leaving the democrat party and supporting "that evil man Ronald Regan". (note that several of my sisters still will not talk to me, to this day.) The Regan years were full of opportunity for all, and I took full advantage of it, learning to work hard and not look to the government to meet all of my needs. I lived in CA until it became apparent that CA was an all around loosing proposition. I escaped in 1998, tired of the repressive omnipresence of government, excessive taxes, commuting and the crazy CA lifestyle. I've not had one minute of regret with pulling the plug on democrats, anti-people policies, high taxes, repressive government, etc.
