Which Fallout is your favourite?
Fallout 2 for sure❤
New Vegas for role playing and fallout 4 for the best "vibe", world design and companions in the series (or any BGS game tbh). Far Harbor is also my favourite DLC.
Fallout 2!
Fallout 3 because Bethesda did good with the map.
Fallout 4 with 60 mods.
The thing you have to understand about Fallout 4 is that, even though the game is almost a decade old, Preston Garvey still knows a settlement that needs assistance.
😂
😭😭😭😭😭
assistance. assistance to preston garvey never changes.
Hahaha
😭😭😭😭😭👏👏👏👏👏
I’ll never forget watching the vault door open for the first time in fallout three, then instantly getting blinded by a full white screen…
The problem I had with that though was I had just finished The Elder Scrolls Oblivion a month before I started Fallout 3 and it started in exactly the same way so the impact of the vault door opening was kind of ruined for me.
@@B-A-L Damn, I mean, they are completely different games in a way. Idk how you can compare the white screen so similarly.
Right there with you. Nothing, IMO, has come close to the vault opening for the first time in FO3. You are then just dumped into the wasteland. I've only watched the first episode of the show, and I'm glad they paid homage to that moment. Hits me right in the nostalgia
@B-A-L the oblivion white screen is still a mindblowing game moment for me
For me, coming face to face with feral ghouls in a DC subway station was the most memorable part of Fallout. I was terrified!
I was in 7th grade back in 2008, and I remember sitting at a lunch table and listening to my friend describe Fallout 3. I couldn’t believe all the things he told me about the game. From describing Gouls and the Undercity, the Brotherhood of steel, deciding to be good or evil, and traveling around a giant wasteland.
Not long after I went to my friend’s house to play it for the first time and we gamed all night. We both made decisions over what Npcs to shoot or piss off, what area of the map to explore, and always picking the funniest dialog options.
Looking back at it, it was one of my favorite gaming experiences. It may not resonate with you the same way if it’s your first time playing, but every time I begin a new adventure outside the door of Vault 101 I get a big hit of nostalgia.
Sounds similar to me but I was the one kid telling everyone at lunch and class about it. By the end of the year everyone was playing fallout 3 and running around telling everyone what they were doing. Truely and amazing experience.
This right here is what people are missing when they ask themselves why they dont enjoy gaming anymore.
thats my exact experience minus the friend
That's me and the fucking water chip. Instant nostalgia. Then the damn Arroyo tribe
I see, for me I grew up playing fallout 2 so I felt absolutely betrayed by the shallowness of fallout 3. as it had stripped away basically every actual aspect of it being a role playing game.
The decision to release the fallout 4 update 2 weeks after the show release absolutely puzzles me. I want to go back and play the game but with the update just 8 days away now im stuck in an odd spot where Im waiting to play a 9 year old game.
I'm pretty much in the same or similar situation except I never played fallout 4. I bought it for $5 on the PS store for the ps5 I just recently picked up. Apparently the $5 price in the ps spring sale ends the 25th so I'm guessing with the update they'll charge more for game to first time buyers although update is free
People always find something to complain about lol. I'm happy it's getting an update.
same 🤣
I was the same but couldn't wait. Plus there is the potential the next gen update might cause problems if you have mods on consoles. The 25th can't get here quick enough
You’re going to hop on just to remember that 4 is the worst of them and then wish they made a NV remake.
We need Vegas remaster
Can't even write Vegas right you Profligate.
Edit: He corrected it. His place doesn't belong on a cross afterall.
You my good sir or ma'am are God damned right
Id like them to remake 1 & 2 in the modern 1st and 3rd person style too.
Done by who. And if you say Bethesda I'm gonna send cazadors to your location.
what is a Vagas?
The difficulty of getting Fallout 1 and 2 running and playing them is so overstated, a couple of hours playing it and you'll have the hang of it and be drawn in. There's like a million guides online if you get stuck anyway. Fallout 1 is a great place to start for isometric CRPGs in general and Fallout 2 is just a blast, anyone who doesn't play it because "yuck old game" is plain missing out on one of the funnest video games ever made. Playing Fallout 2 and New Vegas back to back is so rewarding as well as the story and characters have a lot of overlaps. Speaking of New Vegas, if you can play it on PC with the Viva New Vegas modlist, one of the best experiences in gaming, full stop. Having said all that, Fallout 3 was my first Fallout game and it's great as well, I know it's easy to dunk on Bethesda for their occasionally subpar writing but their world building and creation of atmosphere is stellar and it's my favourite game to just go exploring in. Fallout 4 has its charm, the story is a bit of a plot hole ridden mess but as long as you don't think too hard the gunplay is fun and if you like building shit in games (I don't) there's that as well. I really like the addition of some of the new enemies as well (Assaultrons are great) Did I just proclaim to like every game in the series? Yes I did, shocking I know.
That's the thing about Fallout 4. It is a fair shooter, but a horrible RPG with a poorly written story. The combat is really all it has going for it.
Depends on your definition of "every game". You didnt mention tactic, fallout shelter, or brotherhood of steel.... so you dont like ever game?
And you didnt mention 76
@@fearlessfosdick160 There is the base building if you like that sort of thing. I just found it tedious.
@@__-vo7iq I found it to be very poorly implemented and I never understood why it was in the game in the first place.
I used to play fallout 4 with a mate back in the day, we would be in a party chat while exploring and talking about what we found, who/what we were fighting and where we were going.
Great entertainment.
Very enjoyable experience.
Followed by playing fallout 76 with him for 4 years, introduced my wife to fallout 76 as well.
Now we still cruising around together

@@alexlara5326 are you ok??
That sounds awesome man, thats the dream
@@alexlara5326 are you ok?
@@alexlara5326so how long have you been identifying as that?
For many of us who have been playing FO for a long time, it's where we went to be alone. Hours of content with no human bothering you, just wandering the waste land and doing quests or campaigns. They took it "online" not because it was a good decision for the game or to make it more fun, but to be able to monetize it through subscriptions and pay to win mechanics. Happy to hear some of you still enjoy, but for some of us it was a very sad day when the announced the new setup.
It’s sad cuz they could’ve spent that time making a new fallout or remastering new Vegas 😢
Let's hope Fallout 5 will not be an online game...
There aren’t any pay to win mechanics in 76.
I really hope they don't do fallout 5 the same way.
This is what I was looking for, the microtransaction link as soon as I saw an online version. That's too bad.
Just fyi, Fallout 3 and New Vegas are available for Playstation 3
The only downside is a known memory leak in the PS version.
Technically yah, but they are the worst versions by far. I’d only recommend playing them if someone had no other options and really wanted to. Even taking the X enhancements aside (4K 60 for FO3 and 60 for NV), and only looking at release back in the day, the PS3 versions looked and ran worse and were buggier. I think he just meant they can’t play them on the current Sony console though.
Pc
You can play both if your a PS+ Premium subscriber. But the best experience is still gonna be on PC
Literally the worst way to play those two
Fallout 1 and 2 is not hard to install at all. The difficulty is very overstated here. The entire TV show story arc from Shady Sands and NCR is directly from those games. Fallout NV’s story is directly tied to those games, which is why many fans love it. Fallout 3 is not a bad game, but took extreme liberties with factions like Brotherhood of Steel and the linear storyline.
Bethesda in general took "extreme liberties" with the world of Fallout. Read: shat on the established canon.
In fact, the TV Show took a huge dump on FO1 FO2 and FO: NV.
@@txdmsk I’m a big fan of Fallout 1 and 2, but the TV show was not that bad. I really enjoyed it.
@@txdmskAnd its theirs to do with as they please, be as butthurt as you want even Tim who helped make the original fallout said Bethesda lore is now fallouts lore its their game their choice, the show was great and its not the shows fault you take a fun hobby like gaming and take it far to seriously, your getting mad that a made up story didn't exactly copy another made up story
@@lgd6619
Sounds like you are the one doing the butthurting.
Yeah, Dude just downplayed Fallout 2, a game regarded by a majority as the best, a masterpiece. I remember playing it for the first time and noticing the jump in quality from the first game and then noticing the great "Role-Playing" things it did that they didn't include in Fallout 3.
New Vegas has always been my favorite for a very personal reason - My Dad grew up in Goodsprings! As soon as I found the mod to have a house in Goodsprings, I installed it and immediately began collecting Garden Gnomes (with my Dad did). I never did finish it, but I really enjoyed my time messing with the various factions and finally killing a Deathclaw without cheats...
I still remember playing Fallout 1on release and it remains an all time favourite game. Neat to see how the games continue to be popular.
Fallout 4 for me. I was hooked on the settlement building aspect and exploring the wasteland to find resources. The show has really made me want to revisit the game.
Fallout 3 was my first and absolutely loved it. I know lots of people will preach playing New Vegas but hold off until after. Fallout 3 is a better introduction to the Fallout Universe.
It is hard to disagree with that. FNV has its story going for it, but it really can't beat Fallout 3's environment and mood.
Fallout 3 walked so New Vegas could run.
Fallout 3 on Xbox Series S/X looks so good since it has a graphic update.
No joke tho new Vegas is just fallout 3.5
@@fearlessfosdick160 in terms of Falloutness, tis' 2, and it's not even _close._ 2, then NV, then 1. Fallout is a thing that Bethesda at this point about half hurt. And they are VERY butthurt about how much more we like NV than their stuff. That's why there is no NV2. If we get an NV2 it will be because Microsoft whipped them, and i mean *WHIPPPED THEM* into line (they own both studios.) This may well happen because Starfield was such absolute dreck.
Great guide. I haven't played since 1, 2, and Tactics, with 1 being my favorite.
As a young lad back in 2001 I'll never forget a mate of mine handing me a CD case and saying: "Trust me, play this". The CD case cover looked epic and inside I found 4 discs, installed them, and spent night and day finishing the game.
The game, to this day, holds a very special place in my heart as one of my most nostalgic favorite games of all time. 23 years later, I still have the discs and I've purchased it on Steam.
That game is Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel.
Tactics was great, and man, those CD covers DID look DAMN EPIC. Stay strong, brother!
i still have the original fallout tactics discs as well. They are sitting right next to me ;). mine are 3 discs though.
What I’ve learned is that either your friend was a true homie and gifted you a game, or they were pawning it off cuz it sucked, or they let you borrow it and you have never given it back 🎉
@@txdmsk Cheers!
@@lionhead123 I stand corrected, it is 3 discs!
What i did and what i’d recommend, is start in the middle with F3, NV then F4 and maybe 76 if you like online games. Than later F1-2 and maybe F-Tactics if you really get into the games and lore. Cos i feel like going backwards from newest F4 to the older games would be a huge shock of expectations with major differences and certain mechanics not being in them. I started with F3 back on 360 in 08’ not knowing what it was and eventually bought every new title when they released. until i got a decent PC i finally went to play the original games. By then i was already engrossed in the world so i already knew what to expect. After finally playing all the games you go back to pump thousands of hours in New Vegas for Dozens of playthroughs lol
I actually started out similarly with fo3, then new Vegas, and now just finished fo1, and in the middle of fo2. I actually think fo1 and fo2 are easier to pickup and understand if you’ve played the later games than if you started cold at fo1. Overall fo3 and new Vegas are the best to start with I think.
Agreed!
Started with new vegas! Addicted is an understatement, late nights exploring and quick saving for different outcomes in different situations was the best 👌
I was super late to gaming in general. I was almost 31 when Fallout 4 came out and it was my first FO. I enjoyed it and researched the series and when back and played them in reverse order. NV or FO 1 and 2 combined are easily my faves. I also play 76 currently and while its not the most engaging story (at all) its still fun for what it is these days
I started with 2 as a kid, 76 isn't as bad as I thought it would be when I finally tried it out. Considering the games have changed so much, it's still hard to deal with the tonal, mechanical and aesthetic shifts the series is going through though, playing it with a friend I end up not really thinking about the setting so much.
I was 36 when FO4 came out. Been a gamer since 1983. FO3 and FO4 are the best games in the series.
I see that they are planning Fallout 5. If they are smart they would reboot and call it Fallout to take advantage of new players brought in by the TV show.
I only played Fallout 4 two times and I love it! I never tried Fallout 3 and NV but since I saw the tv show I really had the urge to play and try out Fallout 3 and NV. So I just started a playthrough for Fallout 3 after that I’m planning to play Fallout New Vegas and then Fallout 4 playing it in 60 fps!
New Vegas in my opinion is the best game
@@Alteringcollectibles looking forward to that one!
@@Alteringcollectibles best interms of writing and dialog.. the open world is the worst of the series, No random encounters, a nuked desert which is boring to explore on its own, hundreds of ants and other insects. The constant running back and forth having nothing happen either is a pain and makes me want to use fast traveling even tho i hate fast traveling. And many more issues with the games open world.
The quests and writing and multiple options in quests are all Top tier and peak Obsidian
If you have a Prime account, there's a code for Fallout 76 free for PC and Xbox. Just found out today. It works.
4 is the weakest if you don’t count 76. New Vegas, 1, and 2 are all fantastic. 3 is good but not great.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas are avaliable on Playstaion if you have PS plus premium.
And these are my favorite Fallout games
Yes, and you can still find the game discs for PS3 and PS4.
Don't forget a decent internet connection though because they are playable on stream only.
PS Plus Premium?
they've always been on PC, WITHOUT an account.
Just bought FO 3 want to get new Vegas I'm playing them on PS3 I'm totally digging the stories
Imagine cloud streaming the worst version 😂
great video, thanks for sharing! Personally I'd say I enjoy Fallout 4 the most. In particular since the release of the free high-res texture DLC and because of the vast variety of mods available for that game. The only thing missing is playing FO4 with friends and that's where 76 comes into play. I guess I made up for the lack of multiplayer in FO4 by starting to talk to my dog. true story lol
Fantastic overview, cheers :> I started 76 at launch for about 3 weeks maybe, then uni took over, though with the excellent TV show I am back at it casually. I played a bit of 4 and watched my mates on New Vegas, though online ecosystems tend to hold more value for my time~
Fallout 1 and 2 are really easy to play and get used to.. The problem isn't that they are to hard to play it's that games now days hold your hand to much and spoon feed you everything you need to know instead of actually doing abit thinking and exploring to solve a problem or a puzzle.
That says something because i got stuck in the first room you explore the temple room?i dropped it after i couldn't get the door to open 😭
@@tokyoghoulmamamia5099 lol my point exactly (btw there are some explosives in a pot near the door.. Use them on the door and set the timer for 10 seconds then run away) I worked that one out when I was 8 years old :P
@OrphanCrippler69bb I'm just slow and have never tried a game like that genre before I will come back with this new found knowledge
I started with Fallout 76 since it was free to try for a week. I've now bought it and Fallout 4 for 13 bucks....I'm hooked.
I played every fall out up to 76. Played 76 for 5 hours and hated it. It was terrible. I hear everyone say how amazing it is now and it makes me want to try it (but I also kind of want to beat 4 again for the 30th time lol)
@@be9240compared to launch it is way better, still might not be your thing if you can't overlook the multiplayer aspect though. I play lots of online games so it doesn't bother me
@be9240 I have hundreds of hours on 3 and NV and I can honestly tell you 76 is a somewhat decent experience now. I only have about 6 hours so far in it but it's at least actually a playable experience now, and you can enjoy it with any friends who want to join in with you, so that is a plus.
I only played fallout 3 100% and played fallout 4 on my old system. I’m thinking of buying fallout 4 rn but idk if I should play 76 since I never played it. Is it worth it rnrn (the play not the price)
@@craigsovilla6578 I might give it a shot again. I already paid for it, so it doesn't cost me anything to re-download ot
Fallout 3 started my love for the iP, after I originally played elder scrolls oblivion, back in 06. Fallout 4 is my all tike favorite in the series.
This is a great video, I was literally just thinking about what Fallout game I should play since watching the show. Couldn’t have explained it better brother good job :)
On PS5, 3 and Vegas are available for streaming with premium, but no dlc.
Fallout new Vegas will always be the goat in my head, but me and my friend picked up FO76 upon launch and just stuck with it and we really made some great memories together there. I just wish I could recover all the photos we took on our journey thru FO76😢
I wish your wallet could recover from 76
@@356z In my case Bethesda just stole my account when they shut down their own servers. Switch of account data to steam didn't work and he support just ignored me...
So you're saying 76 is awesome?
You need a girlfriend and a life.
@@356zIf they enjoyed Fallout 76 then that's not a problem.
This is a really great video! I played every inch of fallout four. I only played some of fallout three. You got me excited for the online one, which I hated the idea of.
Currently replaying the fallout series starting with 3. I never played 76 so I’m looking forward to getting into it.
My brother has been after me to play Fallout for a decade... but I never did (I'm a Sims gal, mostly for building) He bought me Cyberpunk 2077 for Christmas because I've been into Cyberpunk/Shadowrun tabletop RPGs since the late '80s. It is my first time playing shooter games and I'm totally addicted.
Forward to this past weekend and binging through Fallout on Amazon. Now I'm ready to play! Thanks for the video... I think the newer Fallout 4 and 76 are probably best when my only other experience with First Person Shooters is Cyberpunk. 😊
P.S. I have been playing "Fallout Shelter" on my Switch since early days of Covid. But I know that's not the same... 😉
@@shannanigamingthey're all good games but I highly recommend giving new Vegas a play. Especially since season two of the series will be taking place in New Vegas a few years after the game takes place.
Its cool youre getting into new games. I wish my girlfriend would level up from sims and fallout shelter to the games I play (like cyberpunk and fallout)! I would recommend Fallout 4 over 76. It has a more fleshed out narrative and you'll likely enjoy the settlement building as a sims player. 😊
If it helps, the older games FO3 and NV dont require you to be good at shooters cause the shooting sucks in those games anyways lol. You can use VATS which is a targeting system that aims/shoots for you depending on which body part you select.
If youve come from Cyberpunk 2.1, Im afraid you should temper your expectations. Cyberpunk core gameplay loop is industry leading. The movement, shooting, hacking. It all feels great and is intuitive. Fallouts feel like a bunch of janky wires cobbled together in comparison to that. The worlds can be fun still but yeah gameplay wise, fallout 4 and 76 feel about 15 years old.
Fallout 4 is definitely my favorite, just began playing new vegas because of the tv series. You were spot on enjoying the series because it reminded me of FO4. Great video BTW!
FO4 with tons of mods of course
@@bdleo300 It doesn't NEED mods, but like any game, can benefit from a custom experience.
If you want to play the best story - Fallout New Vegas
If you want to play the smoothest game - Fallout 4
If you want to start 'at the beginning' - Fallout 3
All three are good games.
I was leaning towards 4 but you convinced me. Great vid. Exactly what a lot of us need right now. Thanks!
Also. Subbed 👍
Honestly glad Fallout Shelter got some love at the end too I loved that game just wish it got more updates and was modernized like many other mobile games in the same genre.
I’ve been seeing TONS of new players coming out of the vault in 76 lately. It’s almost frustrating sometimes because there aren’t enough people to do higher level events 😂 but it’s nice to see an influx of new players as well.
I played 76 right after it was released and I was not happy with its results. Today, I am playing it years later and I actually have fun on it. My problem was how I played it from the beginning because I had been in the first person worlds of 3, 4, and New Vegas. Once you learn how to play multiplayer, it becomes fun.
BEST ORDER TO PLAY
1) FALLOUT 3
2) FALLOUT NEW VEGAS
3) FALLOUT 4
Definitely recommend getting all the dlc for each game for some of the games it makes them complete.
This will allow you to experience the improvements, this isn’t a tier list just my opinion of the best way to enter the Fallout universe.
New Vegas is always the answer.
In my opinion, Fallout New Vegas for story, dialogue and RPG elements. It's also probably the most relevant for show watchers since it features the NCR heavily.
Fallout 4 for the more up to gameplay and just general vibe. It has worse writing imo though.
Mods fixed a lot of that.
I have never played Fallout and this is exactly the video I went looking for last week! Thanks for making it!
You chose the exact same games I chose 4 then New Vegas, and I want to like Shelter but the NPC's need to take care of the raiders and the fires and the everything themselves after I place them. Anyhow great video.
As a long rime fan, i would suggest 3 and New Vegas first in that order. Then, if you're willing to try the older isometric games, 1 and 2, then sense it is the newish one.
That's the sequence that I did--worked for me.
Best way to play the games, because starting with 4 is not good, they're gonna look the OG games after and think "ew thats awful" and never give it a chance, only 4/76
FO4 introduced me to the series and F076 I still pop in from time to time when I want to play online
You missed out on the goat. F3
You ain’t played FO3 or NV? Bro what the flip
I’m 32 and a huge Bethesda fan since I first played Morrowind back n in high school but I never got into Fallout until recently when fallout 4 was released. I love old school games but I just can’t get myself to play anything older than F4, which is to me the best of the series
Fallout 3 by far grabbed my attention, so many hours wondering around. Of course I picked to be on the good side for every decision. Once the DLCs came alone I dived right in, and the intrigue set right back in with each one. I never wanted to storylines to end and with each completion of a mission it felt accomplished, but also it was step closer to the end of the story. Every location, every Vault, all storylines... man I loved that game.
New Vegas is and always have been the best.

@@BeyondTheFilamet Thanks GN
@@Kong-kg6ij you’re welcome :)
1&2 for story and “where it all began”. 3 for first modern iteration and a GREAT location. New Vegas is the best story in the whole series. 4 is more good story and great environment with fully voiced PC for the first time. Amazing ally characters. 76 is a blast with friends… even new ones you just met in the game. It’s easily the most friendly online community in all of gaming. The story is sparse, but adequate. The camp building is tremendous and it is worth playing just to tour and see what others have created. It’s not the best FO game, but I have been playing it since launch without leaving, so it’s definitely my longest played FO game.
I played fallout 3 and I’m jumping into new Vegas on Amazon Luna now while I watch the show. My friend really highlighted the dialogue in it which influenced my character setup.
great overview!! I'd tell anyone starting out fallout 4 to put the main story line mission on the back burner. I plowed through it and my interest level in the game unfortunately dipped considerably once it was done.
4 is my favorite. The gripes it got were very few and almost nitpicky. Limited dialogue options or simplification of rpg elements are the only two gripes I ever hear and I still dont recall either of these being true after dumping hundreds upon hundreds of hours into it across PC, XBone and more recently PS5. Even after replaying 3 and NV fairly recent I still dont see where 4 lacks. NV is great too and 3 will forever have a special place in my heart since it was my first.
"Limited dialogue options or simplification of rpg elements are the only two gripes I ever hear." These are literal core elemants in a RPG game and what made Fallout great. The greatest written stories from fallout are from the games 1, 2 and new vegas simply because the writing is so much better than 3 and 4 and because they had great RPG elements. It's very clear bethesda really doesn't understad fallout at all. 4 literally lacks in almost anything that made fallout fallout; Choices that matter, the choices you made were hard and had some story behind them, side quests were also important and not just "go here, kill/pick up, return" quests. characters were more fleshed out. And the atmosphere was clearly different in 1, 2 and new vegas compared to 3 and 4.
Not a fallout fan. But New Vegas is a damn good game.
As somebody who played Fallout 1 like crazy when it came out, I love those old isometric CRPGs.
Would totally do 3 or new vegas if they got a remaster. Thinking of doing fallout 4. Great review/suggestions!
I love the no spoiler part at the beginning. As I have only seen one episode of the TV series, I like that you don't spoil it 👍
F4 Is with RDR2 my Beloved game, great memories
Ahh Red Dead. If only I could play that for the first time again. True awe
@@mgiebus1869maybe it’s because I went in with too high expectations but I’m having trouble sticking with it
For a person who loved the tv series it would be best to start with 4 cause of stylistic similarities and then when you will start enjoy the mechanics go for NV. Sadly cause of the perspective i never got into first 2 games
I really wanted to go back and use the TV show hype to finally do the DLC from 3 and NV, but as I recall, didn't they require certain level caps? Or else they were just too hard? Given my old saves are from 10+ years ago, on a whole different console, that kinda means I'm screwed right, unless I went back through the main game again..?
I think it really depends on what type of person you are. Everyone can enjoy a fallout game depending on what their preferences are. I know that New Vegas is hailed as the best one in the series because of the RPG elements but someone like me prefers fallout 4 to have a little less conversational and more action focused. I love New Vegas and the mods are fun but I'm more into the combat. A friend of mine enjoys the top down version of the older ones better. We also have a blast playing with each other in 76 and that one is much less RPG focused and more action focused. People should ask themselves what type of games they like and that's the type of fallout that they can play. Fallout 3 is probably the best game to start with if people want to understand the fallout universe and what's going on. From there going to New Vegas and 4. Great video.
Vegas is hailed as the best in the series because newfgs are too young to have played Fallout 2, which was far superior.
FO3 is so far removed from the other games in terms of lore and geography. wtf do you mean it's the best for understanding what's going on?? FO3 was the first FO game I actually played through, too. I didn't even realize it wasn't much of a FO game until I played 2, then 1, and NV.
Maybe I need to replay it but I just remember the rpg elements incredibly shallow compared to new Vegas. To me fallout shines when there’s a dozen different ways to handle a quest. I just remember being surprised the lack of side quests compared to fo3 and NV. See the next gen update is coming out this week, might have to give it another go.
@@txdmskfallout 2 is not user friendly so i get it i cant lie. Nv has the 3d + that og fallout rpg aspect
@@truffledwaffles8311
Yeah. I bet Bethesda could rake in a lot of money if they modernized the graphics and controls of FO1 and FO2. Someone tell Todd quickly!
Fallout 3 is my favorite in the series. It's the game that introduced me to the Fallout universe. I remember just scrolling for new games in my local gameshop back in 2009 when i found the Game of the Year edition of Fallout 3 on the shelf. I remember the power armor on the cover with the 5 DLCs listed. I played it for hours and hours, so much so that when New Vegas was announced i preordered that instantly, and even ran off from school to pick it up on release even though i wasn't allowed. lmao
Nice video and thank for the info, I have Fallout 3 for PS3 and I love it, but sense you say play better Fallout 4 I will definitely buy and play it. 👍😊
Thanks for the info. Just bought Fallout 4 with my GamePass deal and all the DLC based on your recommendation.
Never played fallout before and have started to watch the tv show im going to play fallout 4 thanks to this video and start to explore fallout and as you said dip my toes into the franchise and see how enjoyable it is thanks for the video 👍👍
I’ve always had trouble understanding how someone would prefer any title over fallout 4. The gameplay and world they built between 4 and the rest of the series isn’t even close.
but have you played FO3? Be honest..
@@xman777b yes. I have. And new Vegas.
I have played FO3, New Vegas, and FO4. I loved them all and spent countless hours playing them.
And I agree that FO4 is the best overall experience, even if it lacks some of the qualities of FO3 and New Vegas.
F04 graphics + building mechanics + combat are what makes it the best in the series. The other aspects may disappoint though.
@@fabrice9848 u played them in order of release ?
4 was the only Fallout game where I got to a certain point in the story and said, "no, thanks. I'm out" and didn't care to pick it up ever again. It's a good game if all you care about is building things. Otherwise, it's a crap Fallout game
I started with Fallout 2, man this game was so good... I remember on my second playtrough going to end game location at the very beginning of the game and stealing a huge gun called "buzer" I believe and absolutely melting everything with it!
You got me at the very end. I was totally going to say Fallout Shelter, but you plugged it. FO4 is the only one I finished. I never finished 2... never played 3. I picked up NV but had to refund it when my PC refused to run it, and I got fed up.
So 4 my go to. The music in the game is great too.
FO3 is my personal followed closely by NV. The atmosphere of FO3 is just incredible.
as a professional fallout new vegas glazer and a gambling addict fallout new vegas has to be one of the games of all time
I never played fallout and I haven't got around to watching the show yet (I know I know, I'll get to it) but I did start fallout 4 today and I just made it out of the vault, loving the game so far. here is my question, did I make the right choice for a first timer with 4? or should I play another title first? thoughts?
Perfect summary. I fully agree with everything. I recommended a friend to start with Fallout 4 after he watched the series but my personal favorite is New Vegas which can currently be played for free on Amazon Luna. Fallout 4 has a much more beautiful game world but the story and role playing aspects of new Vegas are more important to me.
Fallout 3 and all Dlcs are on the ps3
Fallout 76 is a pretty good game now it’s well worth trying.
In terms of storyline fallout 3 and 4 had the best plot twists. Especially Sean 🤯 (predictable but still shocking). 3 also had the best music just because of 3Dog, he made the wasteland pop. New Vegas I thought was the most fun. I havent played 76 since i heard so many negative comments about it. Also havent played 1 or 2 but not sure if im ready to go back to ps2 graphics lol ill just watch summary videos. Great vid btw!
Dude fallout with tac sprint and sliding/dolphin dives would be badass. As well as a more extensive keybind customization.
🎉 I will try the Fallout 4 ..and thank you for your help ..also big up for your video, it really helps. ❤
Funny I asked Pi my AI assistant, it said without a doubt 3 since it is a bit easier to learn and immerse in. I said what about 76 it said though dramitly different than the single-play mode games but as good way to dip a toe but 3 was the suggestion, side not till 4-19-24 it is for sale on Steam for 4.99 and only goes to 11 after. So 3 is where I'm going as someone whos watches a bunch of videos, loved the Amazon show but never played. But you bring up excent points with 4 and it's easier gameplay, and as you said I love to
Thanks! I just bought fallout 4 as my first step into the series post-show.
4 was my favourite, 3 was a great one, NV , sort of died off for me once the character got his revenge. Didn’t really have the same energy after that
Definitely been recommending 4 or New Vegas to people wanting to experience them after watching the TV series. If I know they really like RPGs then I'll steer them towards NV but mostly I've been recommending 4 as a modern experience and plenty of reference points from the TV series.
My general feeling is the "best" first Fallout game is whichever grabs your attention, particularly in terms of gameplay. For many, this is going to put 1 and 2 on the backburner until other games are played through, as a lot of people aren't into sprites style games. And that's fine, go back for them when you have time. The only thing I haven't had time for is Tactics and BoS - what I'm seeing there doesn't feel worth the investment.
For anyone undecided about what to play, please consider Fallout 4 with mods.
For me Fallout 4 goes from a 7/10 to a 9.5/10 with the right mods.
I recommend to play survival mode and use these key Mods:
- Sim Settlements 2
- Journey settlement fast travel (allows fast travel to supply line supported settlements)
- Armorsmith extended
- Bullet time
- Power armor HUD
- See through scopes
You can add all the armor and weapon mods you like to this, if you feel a need to extend the gearing.
I had such a unique and good time playing with this config, hope you do too.
I started at fallout 3, then new vegas, then 4. My favorite is still 3 due to atmosphere and it being the first fallout game i ever played
Glad you made this video, I've only seen 7000 similar videos by other creators on my suggested videos.
My first was fallout 4 when I was a kid, loves it so much
Dude how old are You 😮
Thanks for helping me decide where to start!! Ill try New Vegas or 4 given they have better gameplay combat
Fallout 4 is my fav Beth game. The introduction of settlements finally added a major new addition to the Bethesda (Elder Scrolls/Fallout) game formula. Note: I always play Beth games on pc and mods play a major role in my enjoyment of them.
I played Fallout 3 solidly and in its entirety for 2 months straight, including several incredible mods that included an entire island with its own story that was created by just one moddder and loved every second of it. I'm still playing Fallout 4 on and off after 3 years because it just hasn't engaged me and particularly as I hate having to choose factions and also hate base building and resource management.
This woman actress can begin playing Fallout 3 with all expansions then if she wants to play Fallout New Vegas with all expansions and finally Fallout 4 with all expansions so play Fallout 76 she can do lastly when she gets bored out of playing violent computer games not intended for young children.
I'm torn between 4 and 76. I tried Fallout 3 back in 2008 and didn't really have the patience for it tbh and haven't played any since. I'm now watching the show with my daughter, getting re-interested in the series and she absolutely loves it. So here's where I'm stuck: Take turns playing Fallout 4 with apparently better gun play/action and next gen update coming, or 76 because I can set my kid up on her own console and play multiplayer with her.
What are your thoughts?
I’m a month late but go for 4 if you haven’t already decided. 76 being multiplayer means you can either pay extra for a private server or get swarmed by pieces of garbage who want to spam kill you.
My fav is 4 it was fun with all the mods you can put in the game you can build houses and mod real guns and customization was cool and companions so many good times with that one
I have
Fallout tactics
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout shelter pc and ios
Fallout 3
Fallout new Vegas for Xbox series S
And Fallout 4
Fallout 76 for the ps4
I was 17 when I first played fallout. For me the best is Fallout 2, Fallout 1, Fallout New Vegas in this order...and after whatever
bro change ur voice and not be so monotone and people might make it through a video I only played Fallout 4 two times and I love it! I never tried Fallout 3 and NV but since I saw the tv show I really had the urge to play and try out Fallout 3 and NV. So I just started a playthrough for Fallout 3 after that I’m planning to play Fallout New Vegas and then Fallout 4 playing it at 60 fps!
I was super late to gaming in general. I was almost 31 when Fallout 4 came out and it was my first FO. I enjoyed it researched the series and went back and played them in reverse order. NV or FO 1 and 2 combined are easily my faves. I also play 76 currently and while it's not the most engaging story (at all) it is still fun for what it is these days Fallout 3 and New Vegas are available on PlayStation if you have PS Plus premium. And these are my favorite Fallout games
Thanks, bro just bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max and installing Fallout Shelter now! Can’t wait to have a blast playing this game! Thanks for the info. Just bought Fallout 4 with my GamePass deal and all the DLC based on your recommendation. F4 Is with RDR2 my Beloved game, great memories I started with Fallout 76 since it was free to try for a week. I've now bought it and Fallout 4 for 13 bucks...I'm hooked. FO4 introduced me to the series and F076 I still pop in from time to time when I want to play online 22 hours ago New Vegas has always been my favorite for a very personal reason - My Dad grew up in Goodsprings! As soon as I found the mod to have a house in Goodsprings, I installed it and immediately began collecting Garden Gnomes (with my Dad did). I never did finish it, but I really enjoyed my time messing with the various factions and finally killing a Deathclaw without cheats... 4 is my favorite. The gripes it got were very few and almost nitpicky. Limited dialogue options or simplification of RPG elements are the only two gripes I ever hear and I still don't recall either of these being true after dumping hundreds upon hundreds of hours into it across PC, XBone, and more recently PS5. Even after replaying 3 and NV fairly recently I still don't see where 4 lacks. NV is great too and 3 will forever have a special place in my heart since it was my first. I think the newer Fallout 4 and 76 are probably best when my only other experience with First-Person Shooters is Cyberpunk. Thank you for making this video. Exactly what I need. I have Fallout 3 and above. Wasn’t sure where to start after watching the tv show. Fallout 4 is definitely my favorite, just began playing New Vegas because of the TV series. You were spot on enjoying the series because it reminded me of FO4. Great video BTW! 1&2 for the story and “Where it all began”. 3 for the first modern iteration and a GREAT location. New Vegas is the best story in the whole series. 4 is a more good story and a great environment with a fully voiced PC for the first time. Amazing ally characters. 76 is a blast with friends… even new ones you just met in the game. It’s easily the most friendly online community in all of gaming. The story is sparse but adequate. The camp building is tremendous and it is worth playing just to tour and see what others have created. It’s not the best FO game, but I have been playing it since launch without leaving, so it’s definitely my longest-played FO game. This was the most fair review I've seen all week. I love the no-spoiler part at the beginning. As I have only seen one episode of the TV series, I like that you don't spoil it I think it really depends on what type of person you are. Everyone can enjoy a Fallout game depending on what their preferences are. I know that New Vegas is hailed as the best one in the series because of the RPG elements but someone like me prefers Fallout 4 to have a little less conversational and more action-focused. I love New Vegas and the mods are fun but I'm more into the combat. A friend of mine enjoys the top-down version of the older ones better. We also have a blast playing with each other in 76 and that one is much less RPG-focused and more action-focused. People should ask themselves what type of games they like and that's the type of fallout that they can play. Fallout 3 is probably the best game to start with if people want to understand the Fallout universe and what's going on. From there going to New Vegas and 4. Great video. In my opinion, Fallout New Vegas is for story, dialogue, and RPG elements. It's also probably the most relevant for show watchers since it features the NCR heavily. Fallout 4 for the more-up-to-gameplayy and just general vibe. It has worse writing imo though. Dude fallout with tac sprint and sliding/dolphin dives would be badass. As well as a more extensive key bind customization. I have never played Fallout and this is exactly the video I went looking for last week! Thanks for making it!
I think 3 has the best opening sequence, especially for understanding what's going on with vaults.
4 is crazy cinematic though.
I really loved fallout new vegas, probably the one i spent the most time on. Then fallout 3, fallout 4 was cool but i need to eventually go back and play the dlc, ill do that once they release the updated version for consoles. Never played 76, is that one worth it?
Currently replaying 4 and I absolutely love it. Once I beat it I’m gonna hop on 76 which is a very underrated game. It has improved so much since its release.
Played Fallout 4 when i first got into gaming aged 51 and i loved it. The world is beautiful and the music is perfect. F4 is my personal favorite.
I've only played Fallout Shelter on android and it gave me enough context of the series overall to enjoy watching the show.
