Forgive me but what exactly does sanding the wheels do?

@GDAWG803 if you look very carefully at the wheels you'll see it's not smooth. Sanding with various fine grades of sandpaper ensures smooth rolling wheels....you might get an extra 1/100s of a second in speed but it all counts

@@GDAWG803 what EnZed said. Sanding helps in getting a slightly out of round wheel more concentric and removes small surface imperfections which if done correctly, will make a car faster.
