Yeah, I made a comment saying DEHH doesn't necessarily need younger cats on their show so long as they keep their reviews diverse and also mentioned that a lot of diversity would be lost on them if Myke wasn't over here on this channel reviewing the stuff he does. Kinge told me their reviews are diverse, but Myke legitimately reviews the majority of my favorite projects, I don't think my taste is that far off the beaten path that it doesn't deserve to be represented on DEHH proper.
+Bartholomule01 also the dehh audience has changed in the past couple years. there's a lot of younger people on there that want to play the ageism game and they're more interested in more mainstream releases
Hey myke love your videos just wanted to tell u if u see this that I really appreciate u reviewing atmosphere I was never a big fan of underground hip hop but when I seen you do the review of God Loves Ugly I checked it out and I agree with everything you said if it weren't for you I probably would have never learned about atmosphere and now I've listened to God Loves Ugly I love everything about the album and now I bought the CD I think that's one of the great things about your videos is that you put people on to great music that they probably would have never heard of its music that people should hear now because i really related it and it really touched me plus i think u were right about the production it sounds perfect for slug but anyway im going to go check out the rest of atmospheres albums so thank you for looking out
THat whole thing about artists changing and evolving all the time has been on my mind alot lately and when you said that in this video it really made me reaelize how people, me (hopefully not in the future) included, will complain about the exact same thing when it comes to you and people who do what you do. Anyone changing their art- or platform, either in order to not stagnate or just from pure inspiration, get heaps of complaints and hate from their fans. I think it's great that you point this stuff out because it sure does grant a change in attitude from me and no doubt everyone else who's actually listening. It's p interesting
Echos my feelings about this album completely. Perfect is my favorite cut as well, production is on point and I already have so many lines stuck in my head. Absolutely loved When Life Gives You Lemons, never really gelled with The Family Sign, and Southsiders took a long time to click with me, but Fishing Blues literally had me hooked on the first listen. Great review, Myke🔥
I wasn't into the first two songs. Atmosphere is a group that takes me a while to appreciate sometimes. But once I got past ringo man I fucking digged this album.
Dope review bro! Appreciate hearing you talk about Atmosphere. Slug rocked Besos, No Biggie, Pure Evil, etc. I definitely think My Best Half, Salma Hayek, and Windows could have been on the album over a few of these on here though.
I've loved pretty much everything Atmosphere has ever released, including the songs like Windows and Finer Things. I thought Slug was great, but on first listen I thought the album was kinda repetitive and formulaic. I couldn't finish it in fact. I will go back to it at some point after hearing this review though, I'm hoping I just wasn't in the right mood. Thanks Myke :) edit: oh Yeah Aesop's feature was kinda disappointing, especially considering some of the Atmosphere songs with features like Cats Van Bags.
I definitely think Slug was more vibrant on here. Did production remind you at all of Lemons Myke? It sounded like Lemons mixed with Southsiders to me. I fuck with it. Atmospheres best album since 2008 to me. My only beef is the length. Could have shaved 3-4 tracks and lost nothing.
This is such a mature album from Atmosphere and Ant's Production and Slugs Lyrics Fit perfectly. The first 9 tracks only a handful I dig but No Biggie until the End is amazing I like all the tracks. I like this more than Southsiders. You can see the growth of Slug as a man in this album and he sounds like he is in a good place right now and I'm happy for him this isn't a God Hates Ugly or Lucy Ford. Artists grow and Atmosphere is aging very well. Top 5 Hip-Hop album of the year so far
Hey Myke, this is an off topic question but I was wondering what your opinion on the black/avant-garde metal band deathspell omega is as I have never heard you mention them in any of your metal videos.
any chance of a review of the new clipping? Daveed has changed up the lyrical content you might normally complain about, the album is vastly different from their previous work.
+Kid Koenma ??? It might be in the lower tier of Atmosphere albums. But thats just a testament to how consistently Slug and Ant drop quality. Became, Millennium Dodo, My Notes, If You Can Save Me Now >>>>>>
Myke, have you ever been to an Atmosphere concert? Their Fishing Blues concert is coming to my town and I don't know if Atmosphere is good live. Loved their new album
Great album, only song I disliked was Ringo based on the beat but, its grown on me. and would have liked more of Aes but his outro was dope imo anyway. also im with you, it is a long album but every song is good
I just feel like the production on this album tends to drag when on the lighter side, as if Ant ran out of ways to evolve the sound any further. But songs like Next To You, Seismic Waves, Chasing New York, When the Lights Go Out shows the type of production a group with a name like "Atmosphere" would shine on if they just had more songs like those, to help with the pacing of the album at least. A few songs just sounded like rehashes of their past work and ideas, not that there's anything wrong with that because it's still good, but there's a couple beats here that just sounds dull and too looped/dragged out, and a few predictable verses/hooks from Slug. When you've shown so much growth potential in Southsiders, guess I just expected so much more from this one, just my opinion. Also I must say that despite hearing how much maturity their sound has went through, Slug's flows are still kinda same-y on every beat, even though these newer beats allow room for so much more types of flow. That's only the negatives of this album though, I still enjoy it a lot, just not commenting on that. If it helps to understand where I'm coming from, my actual fav album from them is The Family Sign, then Lemons and Southsiders.
the only song I heard slug on was tree life wit logic and killer Mike is there an album anyone can recommend me to so I can listen I'm interested in his music
Start with God Loves Ugly, its most peoples intro to Atmosphere and the one every fan calls their best. But it really all depends on what type of hip hop you like. If you like storytelling, look up The Lucy Ford EPs or When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That Shit Gold. If you want more fast paced, battle rappy style look for Overcast.
Start with Overcast! I think having Spawn in the group at that time was such a perfect combo with Slug. It'll ease you into Slug's style. Go Listen to "Ode to the modern man" and tell me you don't feel it because its impossible if you like GOOD rap.
Loved this album. Definitely better than Southsiders. Loved the jazzy guitar sounds that Ant used throughout, and Slug was so funny on some of these songs. 'Fuck Bill Clinton with his Saxophone.'
'Ringo' was the only track I absolutely didn't like. It's just...too much like a pop single. And they've done the same song topic a million times before. That being said...every other track was great. 'Next To You' is WAY TOO REAL.....Damn.
Jared Ortega thats awesome, personally I prefer When Life Gives You Lemons... to God Loves Ugly but thats dope he has a real appreciation for Atmosphere.
I'm wondering why only myke reviews atmosphere projects.
I dont think Feefo fucks with Atmosphere whatsoever. B and Ken seemed, based on the God Loves Ugly review, hit or miss with Atmosphere.
you're probably right. feefo wouldn't know what to expect

Myke,
You said this isn't the best Atmosphere album ever. Which one is your favorite?
great review

I really hoped y'all all would review this, but this is nice too.

just subscribed myke!
Thank you!
great review, everything you said about this album was on point. keep doing what you do. thanks.

Slug was a little too real for me on Next to You lol, but I liked the album overall
That was really fun to listen to. Dem atlas with the singing and slug with his humor
XD
Hey Myke, this is an off topic question but I was wondering what your opinion on the black/avant-garde metal band deathspell omega is as I have never heard you mention them in any of your metal videos.
Slug still gots dat dope flow & Ant smooth as fuck with em beats bruh..I fucks wit this album..
Really liked this album. Would have liked to see the whole crew review this one, but this works too.
Fishing Blues is the best album out this year!
seeing them at red rocks on friday sooo hyped
Fishing Blues is amazing! Totally agree with this review
any chance of a review of the new clipping? Daveed has changed up the lyrical content you might normally complain about, the album is vastly different from their previous work.
Haven't heard this album yet, *LOVED* The Family Sign.
Great review-- I'm definitely going to have to pick this up! Big ups Myke! (^^)v
family sign was trash
+Kid Koenma ??? It might be in the lower tier of Atmosphere albums. But thats just a testament to how consistently Slug and Ant drop quality.
Became, Millennium Dodo, My Notes, If You Can Save Me Now >>>>>>
those songs you named are ddddddddoppe
Grant Inskeep became and my notes are great so is the loser wins but millennium dodo was trash tbh
I had thought they fell off on that one. I go back now and do enjoy it a little more though. Millennium dodo especially
Myke, have you ever been to an Atmosphere concert? Their Fishing Blues concert is coming to my town and I don't know if Atmosphere is good live. Loved their new album
They are pretty damn good live from my experience. It gets hype AF.
+Brian Kohl That's awesome! Brother Ali is opening up for Atmosphere on this tour. Super excited
+Randy Tiet See it. I saw Atmosphere, Ali, and Dilated Peoples at Red Rocks and it was the best concert I've been to.
ive seen footage (lol death grips reference) and they seem very good and he's interactive with the crowd and it looks very natural
Randy Tiet Great live, Slug is the man
that was a pretty thought about and nice review
Great album, only song I disliked was Ringo based on the beat but, its grown on me. and would have liked more of Aes but his outro was dope imo anyway. also im with you, it is a long album but every song is good
Chasing New York and besos are my favorite tracks. Album good listen big up to slug

Agreed. That Kool Keith feature was a letdown. Fortunately, that Super Hero song came out.
the doom kieth song has the weirdest beat
Typical Keith production tbh
the only song I heard slug on was tree life wit logic and killer Mike is there an album anyone can recommend me to so I can listen I'm interested in his music

wait, with logic and KM? never knew about that. Their best imo is you can't imagine how much fun we're having. Great all around rap album.
Loved this album. Definitely better than Southsiders. Loved the jazzy guitar sounds that Ant used throughout, and Slug was so funny on some of these songs. 'Fuck Bill Clinton with his Saxophone.'
People threw shade on Southsiders,I like Southsiders more than Fishing Blues. It was a solid album though.
any reviews on lil ugly mane?

+André M Awesome!

I'd say it's God Loves Ugly cuz he listed as his fave hip hop album of all time. Source: check out his top 10 albums of all time video
actually God Loves Ugly is his 2nd fave hip hop album, after Company Flow's Funcrusher Plus.
Jared Ortega thats awesome, personally I prefer When Life Gives You Lemons... to God Loves Ugly but thats dope he has a real appreciation for Atmosphere.
+TeakySnee Dead End Hip Hop actually made a review for God Loves Ugly
I like Overcast
F...art.
I hated the last album, but ill check this out tho
Honestly you probably won't like it then.
+Ryan Flood nah I wasn't that into Southsiders and I dig this one alot
derek vaughn agree I like this a whole lot better, better up beat production
its late af
Better late than never.
First
If a musician never changed they would not be one of my favorites. Boring.
great review
