Seeing this interview with Gil Kenan actually makes me really want to see Frozen Empire now which I been asking myself if I want to see. I loved the whole themes that influenced the movie between parenting and growing up. I also enjoyed hearing about and learning about the other movies and shows. It's podcast like this one having the interview with Gil that really makes me happy that I had subscribed!

I remember it looked great and I couldn't connect with any of the characters. Just like Frozen Empire (except for Dan Aykroyd, who did a great job with his character here).

Thoughts on "Shōgun" from F/X? Did ReelBlend do the press junket for the show? Where are the interviews?
Re: "3 Body Problem", it's on Netflix, who notoriously cancels good shows; while I'm digging the adaptation, I'm not holding my breath that S2 and S3 will be greenlit.
Have to agree with @Sean, I was bored to tears with "Road House."

I would bet any amount of money that the original script for this Road House remake started off as completely original story, which, when Joel Silver got a hold of it, they then retroactively worked it into this remake - for the marketability, name recognition, etc. Even more so than the original, the whole concept behind it doesn't make sense. Why would it be intuitive that an ex UFC champion would make a good bouncer? Especially one who is as clearly mentally messed up like the Dalton in this version? The script also spends very little time dealing with the world of door keeping - there's an art and a science to it. Being able and willing to fight is actually a small component to it. To the original's credit, they at least acknowledge and pay lip service to deescalating the situation before getting physical. Jake's version here is a pretty terrible bouncer, all things considered - he lets things escalate way past the point where he should.
I bet the original script was an original story dealing with a PTSD-addled vet who takes some security job at a small town and then gets roped into investigating some crime. The UFC and bouncing thing never came into it. The movie plays up the fact that it's a basically a modern western - which is true - but the plot has more in common structurally with the genre of the detective or private eye story. It's basically Dashiell Hammet's Red Harvest remade for the 100th time (which was the basis for Kurosawa's Jojimbo and then Leone's Fisftul of Dollars). The book store in the film is even called The Glass Key.
This is actually an old trick of Silver's - he did the same thing with the Die Hard 2 script. That one was based on a completely original novel by Walter Wager, set in an airport during a terrorist attack, which they then put McClane into for the script and then turned into the sequel we now know.

But WHY did you bring the librarian back? There was no story or resolution to it…

This film can be fixed. Slimer and Venkman needed a scene. Slimer needed to eat the mini putts at Rays Occult. Trevor should have gone to Venkman for women advice. Callie and Denise should have had a talk about what it’s like to love a GB focusing on Denise’s heartbreak with losing Louis and Egon. Garraka should have escaped and regrouped in Central Park with his army of ghosts and those ghosts should have resembled ghosts from all the movies, the games, and the cartoons. When Garraka went to march with his army towards the firehouse, there should have been this awkward pause to let the jogger ghosts run past them and away from the fight. There should have been more time spent in the lab and that’s where Winston should have placed phoebe when she got benched. In the lab when Phoebe is introduced to Lars, we should have learned that Lars joined GB to work beside Egon but never got the chance. We should have also learned that Melody works in the lab with Lars and that she is there to help them developed different ways to help, catch, and defeat ghosts but then secretly she is there to spy for Garraka. We should have learned that they were collecting Pukie puke at the lab and that’s why they had him in that cell. Later, we learn that they mixed Pukie’s slime puke with a something that made it flammable and phoebe and Lars designed a special weapon that combined the slime blower and a flame thrower together in one to fight Garraka and the person that gets to use it in the big battle/fight scene is Podcast. We should have gotten scenes where Slimer communicates by nodding his head up and down to say yes and sticks his tongue out and blows to answer no. There should have been a post credit scene where the ghost busters introduce the jogger ghost to a treadmill within the firehouse and that’s where we see him in the next movie still running. The old ghostbusters and the new ghostbusters should have put brass on all their protonpacks to prepare for the Garraka/ Ghost Army battle and then we learn that Lars and Phoebe with the help of Melody designed a spectral particular reversal ghost bullet that can be used to destroy the worst of the worst ghosts but its only effective on the lower ranked class ghosts. At the finally of the battle all the new GB’s and the original GB’s surround Garraka and cross streams together on each side of him while the fire master and Podcast worked together bringing the heat. These and so many more scenes that were short and sweet would have made the movie completely EPIC!

Kind of creepy how you are all praise and smiles when interviewing Gil Kenan and then you go all "meh" when you review the movie. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing to challenge him on something you didn't like about the film.
