Excellent video, thanks. Liked and subscribed. Three questions: 1) your circulation included the pressure tanks, right? 2) how long do you leave the circulation going? 3) Some recommend dropping chlorine tablets into the well. It seems to me that dropping bleach solution would be hands down better (the tablets can get lodged). Is there any scenario where tablets are preferred?
Thanks for the video, it was helpful, and you've earned another subscriber! Suggestion: Perhaps you could have described the flushing process, after the well is chlorinated. Also, if the well casing is galvanized pipe, what effect will chloronating the well be?
There are good questions here left unanswered. I too would like more information on how to actually run the chlorinated water through the system and how to flush it out.
We bought a house with well that hasn’t been used for at least 2years and when on, the water has sulphur and iron smell . What do you recommend? A shock ?Thanks!
I am a new well owner! I first need to design a system to remove sediment, salts and metals for construction use. All the videos I've seen show a pressure tank and pressure switch first in line out of the well. I was considering pumping the water from the well into a vented holding tank first, then adding the pressure tank and switch. I was also thinking of adding a spin down filter (or two) right out of the pressure pump. I prefer the cheapest solution before upgrading to a whole house system later.
We have a jet pump Flint & Walling) with two hoses running into the well head, there are no access holes. There are just the two hoses and 4 bolts securing the cap to the well. Any suggestions where we would pour the chlorine into the well and insert the garden hose to circulate the water?
It seems like that ball valve on the upstream side of the pressure switch could be a problem. If that valve is left shut, the pressure switch will never be satisfied, and the pump will keep running with no water flow. I would suggest wiring that valve open with and adding a warning tag.
I need to clean up my system because i have the "rotten egg smell" I have a Goulds SJ10 jet pump. It is mounted directly over/on the pipe coming up from the well and has no port to back flush or circulate the bleach in the system. Also has no well cap that i can see. Looks like 10"-12" casing cemented over the 4" pipe with pump right on top. can you give me any suggestions on how to do the cleaning with this set up? Thanks
@@RCworstwater I have a triple filter set up with a carbon filter last. This has helped but not completely. Is it possible to do this flush with the setup i have? I thought of adding a T in the riser below the pomp and adding a hose bib or ball valve for a flushing port.
Crawl down there with a skizet and scrub well until all debris collects on the leeflet, then add 2oz lemon juice, but only after the hot water is released
Hey buddy i have seen your videos before when i was having well issues vary good info and vary professionally done. So i need to do this to my well i am getting alot of iron also i have a 1500 gal storage tank and i have a shallow well i live on the coast in northern cal. So i am wondering if i need to clean out my 1500 gal tank before i put bleach in system it has about a inch of mucky sand and looks like rust in bottom of tank. Also i have never done this process since i have owned this home in 4 yrs. I believe the did at the time of me buy in this property cuz thay had to put a ultraviolet lite filter on it cuz the water test was bad. So i am guessing the did the bleach to kill the bacteria about 4 yrs ago. I do keep up on lite bulb replacement every yr and replace the cotton type filters every few months more in the winter cuz of heavy rains here. Any help on what i need to do this and be affective i wood really appreciate and thanks for making such pro vids.👌
We are having a smell in well water, smell just like sewerage, while the well is completely covered, here we had a storm last week before the smell appear, Please guide me to resolve this issue,
This is very important. I'm in Ghana and my newly drilled well of 60 meters is pumping out brown water. I drilled it just 17th January 2020. I thought it was mud, so we pulled the pump up a bit. The water coming out of the well came clean after pulling the pump up a bit, but the pump couldn't pull much water. The prevent the pump from burning, or blowing up, I made the engineer pushed the pump deeper to the previous level. Thinking that the wster was going to be clean as I see now. We pumped water again and now it's back to brown colour again. Is it mud or it's iron. And can your process solve it?
@@celsabongalos8654 okay. Luckily, it took about two months for the water to clean up by itself. Don't add any chemical or mechanism. Keep pumping the water clean water will start coming out shortly after sometime. It coming clean actually depends on the frequency you pump it. Pump it out more for Mason workers and other people what use water for construction and other works. Soon it will be clean.
@@lobdsk yes. If its a new borehole. But if you have used it for more than a month and still brownish, then it needs to be treated. Because ideally, there's dirt and mud beneath the borehole. So the pump will such the mud about for sometime before it becomes cleaner. So yes, keep fetching it will become cleaner after 3 weeks to 5 weeks time.
Just watched your previous video on calculating chlorination, but I'm still not clear on how to calc the water volume you're working with. I know my well to be 238' deep, but how do you determine the static? Drop a line in as a kind of dipstick?

Hey Chris! This video was a huge help for my understading of water filtration systems. Remember to stay awesome!

How do you ensure the inside of the water heater is decontaminated as well?

How long does one do this recirculating back into the well???
Hey so this well has a hold in it my well is basically the same except without any opening how am I supposed to shock it ?
Hi Chris, Awesome video as per usual. When do you prefer chlorine over bleach tablets? Just finished watching your calculation video. Amazing !
Great job chris!!!🤠🥳👍
Thanks 👍
So many people have reactions to this chlorine in water. Skin problems especially whats it doing to goldfish and pets too?
How much is a average cost for treating a well
Wont this cause corrosion
and how do you chlorinate a flowing well ?
Who does well treatment in Roxboro NC?
Wondering what is causing black water from a deep 30 year old personal residential well, that's been great until now? Thank you.
I've seen old pressure tanks have their black butyl diaphragm disintegrate and spew out black water before - perhaps that's what happened?

Step number one is to get your water tested. Once it is tested you will know what you're dealing with and what the possible causes are.

My well water becomes yellow when adding chlorine, why is it happen?
Does pool chlorine work? We have 10 ft. static water level, pump is at 60 ft. and the well is 4" inch pipe diameter and depth is 160 ft. Screen well.
It should. As always, be sure to flush thoroughly.
I poured about 7L of Chlorine used in pools to my well, it's a 90ft drilled well
Thank you so much for this ❤️
No problem 😊

That is one way of doing it. The static water level is also listed on the well report, your local water authority should have a copy.
what does a person do when the company put so much chlorine that the water is undrinkable, cant be cooked with, and cant be used for showers due to overwhelming smell/gases?
Call the company and ask what the chlorine is for and what you need to do.
its awful, Im still trying to clean out the chlorine
