One of the common issues with the Titans. Pretty sure mine have leaks too. In the Titan forums they don't recommend replacing with the OEM style parts as it may just happen again due to the design. Long tube headers, new B-Pipes and a tune can resolve it for good. Guys in emissions states (besides California) can still pass the sniffer test if you get the B-Pipes with the cats. I'll eventually get it done for my truck as well. I have all the parts just need to get it all installed and tuned. I have a 2010 w/136K miles.
Hi, thanks so much! What are B pipes? I have the JBA long tube headers that I'm about to have installed to replaced cracked OEM headers not even a year old. How can I pass a PA emissions inspection with the long tube JBA's?
@@ikenosis8160 These are B-Pipes: ruclips.net/video/jgmlNX6zfME/видео.html You can get them with/without cats. You will need cats in your B-Pipes for emissions purposes. The Berks B-Pipes in the video are top of the line and cost more. Many others out there I just used that one for show.
Ug, I hate the lack of access in most modern cars. This is why I no longer try and service my own car. Old age makes it impossible to bend my arm in three spots to work on these cars.😊 I remember in the 1970's, fixing an oil leak in a VW Beetle. The owner's dad spent hours trying to fix it, but could not get access to the leak, so called me for advice and help. One hour later, we had the engine out, and five minutes (and one O ring) and the leak was fixed. Took just over an hour to put the engine back. The look on the owners face when she came to see how we were going, and seeing her car engine on the workbench was priceless.
Would be fine if they were cast lol Probably would last the life of the vehicle. But stamped steal that is poorly welded, yea definitely ka-ching for the manufacturer... Until people stop buying their vehicles.
Salt state scam their citizens every year. Where I live there are plenty of people and TONS of snow yet no salt. We get around just fine. My 1990 Corolla has no rust!

They didn't salt, they just threw sand down which worked wonders and didn't destroy the vehicles.
Same problem with Toyota Tundra and some F-150s. The cost of exhaust manifolds with cats plus labor must exceed the book value of this 14 year old truck. Couldn’t you just braze the cracks on the manifolds?
Not familiar with these trucks as we didn't get them in New Zealand but I wonder why the flange plates have a split in them? For the exhaust to crack in the same place as the split flange, it must be expansion and contraction due to heat cycling at that point that ends up cracking the pipe.
Yep, that is exactly correct. As a former service manager for other auto dealers, It was common knowledge that these such failure points are engineered into many diverse parts as a way to generate massive revenue through jacked up repair costs. This is one such engineered failure point.
Not really. There are multiple videos/guides online that do it with the right tools. Book labor is only 10hrs for both. I know a Nissan master tech who does it in 3hrs. He's done hundreds of them and can practically do it blind folded. As long its not it an ultra rusted northern salt truck, it is not that big of a deal. A first timer can do it within 5-10hr as there are so many guides out there to keep u out of any pitfalls
If that was my car, i'd weld the manifolds with oxy acetylene torch. Torch is a way to go for exthaus system welding, as it doesn't leave sharp lines of heatstress in the metal.
Will the new ones also crack at the same stress points caused by the leveraged weight of the converters flexing and then fatiguing? Can you weld up the cracks in the old ones and reinforce to distribute the stress?
Those manifolds with catalytic converters must have been really expensive, but the labor to R&R them isn't cheap either. I'm guessing it wasn't worth the risk of having to do the job twice, is why you didn't try just welding the old ones first.
My family had been Datsun and Nissan fans since the 70s, but the quality of the vehicles is just not the same since they merged with Renault. Two marginal companies combined do not equate to quality vehicles.
Gee, a Nissan with broken exhaust manifolds. There’s something that NEVER happens (not). Wait until a few of the exhaust studs break. Then the real party starts. I hope there’s a lot of labor hours for this gem.
Book time is 5hrs per manifold so no not a lot of labor hours. Can be done in 1.5 per side if you're a real pro. Can be done in 3-5 if you're not. Exceptions being the minority of trucks that are northern salty. And no exhaust studs break
90 degrees is rare in the NW? Lol no it's not...not even in the slightest. In Southern Idaho it's triple digits quite often during the summer. I.e. today 102. Other than that, great video ;)
I have faith in you my friend. I don't think there's anything you can't do! Keep up the good work and stay hydrated.

Don't need a tune with the flex fuel version

yeah so stupid

oof stamped and welded at the seams. Tack welded at the flange.

Wow high today in Tulsa 82, normal temp in the 90s our spring has been mild. Our summers are barnburners

Soapy spray water is better to check just spray on where those nuts etc, if there’s bubbles that’s the leak
As a Nissan tech of 4 years I agree this is one of the crappiest jobs. The newer nissan titans with DIRECT INJECTION all need short blocks.
Whoever designed this manifold is an idiot.

Out here on the Canadian Atlantic Coast we have the F-word, FOG, the temp never got above 50 degrees. I hated doing manifolds.
How many hours did it take to complete this job?
Did you have to remove the front differential to get to the engine mount bolts for the left exhaust manifold?
good luck 2ST. I hope Eric O will be proud of you too :-)
Only 14 years old...yeah, that's well made...I'll bet those cracks threw the o2 sensors for a loop.

Get jba headers and cajun b pipes to fix it
Tough job didn't look to rusty though but stiil alot of work.
Yea, don't look fun. Maybe fix the cracking problem with headers? Those would be even more fun, I'm sure.
If you have a cracked manifold would that be a reason for poor mpg?
yes
Got to love that nissan renault quality

90 tomorrow here in Washington state
When Renault took over Nissan the quality nose dived. Feel for ya having to work on those manifolds
I own a 2004 f 150. I know about manifold leaks. At least the Ford's don't have cats attached to them.
A hideous job !!!
This should be a recall

North American Nissan models are so terrible and I blame the EPA for this nonsense.
Infiniti QX Nissan owns Infiniti
Wow why didn’t you name the video me talking about me
Weld the gaped flange together or it will crack again. Stupid design.
Those exhaust manifolds look cheap quality. My Honda Civic has way better exhaust manifolds. Still the same ones since It was new.
hi
Lol, a tube. Smoke machine is better
Should have save some money and welded them up.
If you have to do it again go with the JBA headers. Much better than stock for power/torque/heat and are VERY unlikely to crack.
