Yes!!! Finally a review of this bike… thank you so much for this… got my mod 2 in January but as I live in central London I’m in the market for a 125 for now… eyes set on the voge 125 but definitely keen on the cb125r … thanks buddy
Great performance from the older model. In '21 they gave it the full 14.75hp and possibly the separate function forks, which are gold so you can tell at a glance which is which. Thanks for not dropping it into 5th at 58mph... my heart was in my mouth for a moment there! 😂
@@Mr---mr4ll it would have dropped out of the power peak and sat at 58 until the straight, I think... judging from previous tests. I think there might be a gentle incline at that part of the road. Check out past speed tests & you'll know what I'm on about.
Would like to see a comparison with a new (broken in for a performance test) CB125R as they have 14.7HP now. That would be a cool indicator as to what that extra horse gets you. Crackin vid as ever mate :)
It was your channel that made me wanna get a bike! The Keeway V-Cruise, but further investigation and research I realised a Honda CB125r will be the better choice for me! can't wait.
There are so many good 125 options. I love the v-cruise. For me they are the best looking 125’s out there. But the cruiser style isn’t for everyone. The CB125R, the Yamaha XSr & MT125, Voge R125, KTM duke 125 are all amazing bikes as well (to name but a few). The difficulty is picking just one 😂.
If my bike is anything to go by, 21000 miles is no problem on that Honda. My Honda 2021SH125i is currently at 66700 miles plus and counting. Not sure how many miles the Chinese bikes are good for. Great review as always.
Thanks for sharing that. That’s some impressive mile munching on your bike. I would bet the better Chinese bikes being built now should get there but I’m not sure about their older bikes 🤔
An rd125lc from 1984 would embarrass any 2024 learner legal bike. 40 years and zero progress and if you want to talk about four strokes a 64 honda 125 was equally as fast sixty years later.
I had one of these, great little machine, took me up to my test after a 30 year break from riding, I stuck with Honda, a 650 now, but that 125 was so much fun, I'd recommend it to anyone
Torn between this and the XSR 125 but also the Benelli Leoncino 125 is a great option at considerably lower prices. I'm in my 40s and planning to actually finally start riding in the new year
On a 2023 model bought in June 24 (14.75bhp). Shifting my heft around for about 200 miles to a tank (E5) . It is possible to get over 70mph on the clock. Need to drop a few gears to keep the speed up some hills but that might be my width and head winds more than a shortfall of the bike
Its a Honda with 21k on clock and you would not know it without seeing the mileage, how many 125cc bike will ever reach 21k miles? let alone be able to reach 60mph. I think a GPS would really add to the channel. Best wishes.
Hi mate, just thinking it would make sense to invest in a gps speedo to attach on the bars for the speed test just so its more accurate as different speedos tend to lie different amounts
I had a 2018 model and loved it. Until the front sprocket that the last owner welded on snapped. I’d have another one but the 21 plate or newer for the extra hp. There was no vibration on my cb compared to my LXR.
I have a cbr 125 r, a bit older than this one, with lower mileage. It easily does 70mph on dual carriageway (we don't have motorways in Cornwall). It's in repsol colours, which might help😅. Needs lots of gear changing for hills though
@@GillyBikes ooh good question. I told one friend 100mpg but no where near that really. Am thinking about getting a royal Enfield, more age appropriate for a pensioner!
The poor 125’s I would agree, However the better performers like this can hold their own and keep up with traffic. I’m sure this would have gone up to 70ish.
The bike needs a longer dual seat & better designed rear tail piece with rear light & proper mudguard & reg plate arrangement . As it is now the rear wheel sticks out miles past the seat , necessitating that ridiculous tacky insect looking tail end . The 125 bikes they made a couple of decades ago , where much better designed . A used 125 bike in good nick with a Japanese badge , is always going to be a better choice , even if it was built in the same Chinese factory , as a brand new generic Chinese bike built for other brands to market . Simply because there is more chance of consistent back up & reliability from a Japanese brand name . That’s doesn’t mean that some of the better examples of Chinese motorcycles , are not worth taking a chance on & a punt on , if the price is really cheap & the buyer is good on the spanner’s .
Boring is a bit harsh. I said at the end of the video. They don’t need to be flash with bright colours. They work exactly how they should. Reliable and great performance.
Cheers mate. I’ve still got a bit to lose. Im trying to hold off buying new stuff incase what I buy becomes to big as well. Also holding out for the January sales 😂

@bobritter7197 I wouldn’t dare. It was to close 😂
@ what would have happened if he dropped it to 5th?

Cheers mate. That would be a good test. I will have to have a ride over to my local Honda dealer and see if they will let me borrow one.
Good to see another 125 performance review
These Japanese bikes are made in Thailand
The last Japanese built 125 was the SuzukI RV 125
Cheers
Yes, it’s pretty standard now with all 125’s from the Japanese brands. China, Thailand and india. But non built in Japan.
The cb125r isn't made in Thailand. It's made in Italy.

Yes. A great time for bikes back then. Until Europe starting watering them all down with their rules on power and emissions 🤮
The review ive been waiting for. This one is the new one though 😊
What did you think?

Love watching your reviews!
doesn't a aftermarket exhaust give the bike a bit more hp over a stock exhaust?
It can but sometimes it can reduce it.
I liked the Mondial that was there. They are beautiful bikes.
Amazing looking bikes. Like works of art.
Side view, not a lot of room for a pillion 🤷, another enjoyable review 👍
Thank you. I agree. It’s a token gesture of a pillion seat.

Cheers. I will hopefully sort the gps out soon 👍
Got my CBT on the 21st and I'm still deciding between getting this bike and the KTM Duke 125
Both good options. Very similar on performance. Looks are always subjective but for me I prefer the looks of the Duke.
Hi mate, just thinking it would make sense to invest in a gps speedo to attach on the bars for the speed test just so its more accurate as different speedos tend to lie different amounts
Totally agree. I have been sent a few different Apple car play screens. I’m hoping one of those has gps. I think it will make the test more accurate 👍
Dying to see you review the CB 350, it's actually cheaper than a new monkey bike. That can't be bad.
They look nice. Hopefully I can get one from Honda.

Thanks for that. I’m thinking the vibration might be caused by the non standard exhaust 🤔
@@GillyBikes I was gonna say if that was due to the exhaust!
45.5 Km per litre about 129mpg. He got 108 MPG avg on the clock
Wow. Thats brilliant. Thank you for sharing 👍
Very good bike try get the 2021 CB 125r it has15 hp and different suspension
I definitely will. They sound like a step up 👍
New over 2nd hand for me any day, especially if the price is similar.... you might find more bikes hit the mark the more weight you lose 😂
😂😂😂. That’s what I’m thinking. Once I’ve lost a bit more I might have to re-try the bikes that were close. 🤔
This would be my first choice, but that mondial looks a bit tasty in red
It’s the first time I’ve seen one in red. Looks amazing. 🤩
Hi can you do the Honda CB125f as I have just bought one crash damaged for a good price.
A friend of mine had one and loved it. Nice bikes 👍
@@GillyBikes It's big compared to the Van Van

I love pretty much all of them. The HNTR is my favourite of the smaller cc bikes. There’s just something about that, that I love riding.
Mines smooth
All these small engine bikes are only useful in town were speeds are below 30 mph on 60 roads they are dangerous probs doing 50mph flat out gps
The poor 125’s I would agree, However the better performers like this can hold their own and keep up with traffic. I’m sure this would have gone up to 70ish.
I'd say a 14/15 bhp powered 125 4t should be good for at least 70mph without too much effort

I’ve always found Honda’s to be really good, reliable but boring bikes. Like you say though they are nice to ride.
If by “boring” you mean reliable, well built, excellent finish, comfortable, good spares availability, long lasting …..etc then I’ll take that !
Boring is a bit harsh. I said at the end of the video. They don’t need to be flash with bright colours. They work exactly how they should. Reliable and great performance.
Used Japanese bike at the moment, but, the Chinese are getting there......
With every bike they get better and better. I just hope they keep their prices low.
You need to get some new riding gear mate, you've lost a load of weight & it's falling off you .. well done!
