    Im BMW mechanic and I own 3 BMWs with N55 engine. the labour of changing thermostat and water pump i usually do it in one hour. the mistake here is not taking swaybar out. that will make taking waster pump 60% easier. Great job i love these 7 series with LED headlights.

      Is this engine reliable? Should I buy one with 30-42k miles ? Looking for a 2014-16 x5 35i
      And it's true this engine got more reliable in 2014 when they replaced the pwg with ewg ?

    • @AutoLust
      @AutoLust  5 месяцев назад

      @@peterhajj2107 The N55 is one of the most reliable engines in general. I've had a 2017 ewg and 2014 pwg and both are very reliable. All engines will require maintenance schedules and that's where the reliability is found. Things like changing oil earlier and doing cooling mods to preserve the life of the engine. All these mods and tips can be found on this channel

      @@AutoLust how much does it cost to maintain yearly?
      One of my family members had bad experience with a 2011 X5 35i ( idk because it was the first year of the engine and on a suv ) is the f chassis more reliable? They fixed problems?
      And another one with a 2007 X5 30i

    • @AutoLust
      @AutoLust  5 месяцев назад

      @@peterhajj2107 I can't speak for the older e chassis n55s as I only owned newer f chassis n55s and as I told you I've had no experience with bad problems besides regular maintenance. My 740Li is over 10 years old so of course some bushings need to be replaced, but other than that the engine runs stronger than any other car I own with over 150,000 mi on the clock. I can't tell you what is good for you as I don't know your situation and I fix my own car. All I can tell you is that I've had no problem out of none of the N55s I own and of course an older generation engine is going to be less reliable than the newer one in most cases. A little bit of advice though, if you buy a higher mileage car no matter if it's newer year or not. You are still at the mercy of the previous owners as most people don't take care of their cars so you have to deal with the problems that poor maintenance has caused.

    Good video, on the N55 the valvetronic eccentric actuator motor can go bad as well.. It's a lot of work, under the fuel injector cups on top of the motor, but at 100k, I would keep it in mind.

    • @AutoLust
      @AutoLust  7 месяцев назад +2

      I'm very familiar with doing that job as I've done many of them already, but this video is for upgrades of the factory plastic parts. I wish there was an eccentric motor upgrade but there isn't. Thanks for supporting the channel and I'm happy you enjoyed the video!

    I must say as a brand new subscriber. I was pissed at you letting that white Jeep win against Sasha. I'm an X6 lover and Sasha made me a fan, she's coldblooded. But bulletproofing BMWs won my Loyalty. As an owner of many models and engine types, this is the #1 issue, leakage and brittle aged parts (ESPECIALLY PLASTIC PARTS!!!) Any engine with plastic parts is doomed to failures after 5-8yrs just on heat alone, not to mention the brittle composition from aging accelerated by heat. To post videos on combating this is a testament to your true frustration as an owner and helping others you know are headed in the direction of their heart but have no idea how to stop the inevitable without spending countless thousands. You're taking the money pit out of BMW ownership, and for that I Thank you Sir, Much appreciated 💯

      As a car enthusiasts it's only natural to lean into BMWs if not Mopar. But the way they stealing Mopars it's up! Its all Bimmer Gang all day. The ONLY problem is when you get it you literally "Lust" the Power. Which makes reliability something you better get heavily involved with or your Bimmer life will be Hella short. Or Hella expensive. I'd rather take the time, no matter how time consuming it is to get the MF'n Ultimate Driving Machine to perform and kill'em without dying in the process. Power and Reliability, yes Sir 🫡
      P.s. don't let nobody else beat Sasha, it was like when you play somebody 12 games 1on1 and they buss 1 3pointer and run around yelling BoomShakalakaaa in yo face! I told you I'd buss on you! 😅😅😅 But you also don't want to go making unnecessary enemies or haters in the Midwest Northeast area lol so kudos on keeping it cop-esthetic with them Boys!

      @AutoLust  Месяц назад +1

      @@R1d3rBul Thanks fam. Rod bearings, I would definitely change if it's high mileage but the timing chain in the n55 are pretty much worry-free, The n20 n26 that's a different story The ride bearings can be changed easily just by dropping the oil pan during an oil change. Just make sure you use an upgraded version. I prefer King GPC bearings

    How many miles does it have now

    • @AutoLust
      @AutoLust  7 месяцев назад

      Mine has almost 140. The problem is letting your car sit and not following proper maintenance schedules. If I was to drive from Florida to California back and forth until my car reached 400,000 mi, it will easily do so with oil changes and in tune-ups.
