Swamp wallabies are not native to the "swamps and marshes" of Australia. They prefer forests or wooded areas. Their name is most likely a reference to their distinctive smell. Love swampies one of my favorite animals.

A few years ago I got to pet a young wallaby behind a cage at the rodeo & I wish I could have taken it home.
