The Eco-Ranch Returns!!! Now From Alpena, Michigan!

  • This is a re-introduction to us, now in Alpena, Michigan. I am having trouble with an editing program, so please bear with me through this video, I should have a program figured out soon!
    In this, I just tell you where we are, why we sold the Texas Eco-Ranch and our plans for this great spot for outdoor activities in the north woods.
    We actually should appeal to more people now than in Texas. In Texas, we were off-grid, New Homesteaders, living on acreage with little more than what we could build and raise. Here in Michigan, we are back on the grid (only because of our age, explained in the video) and are doing what you do every day where you are, but in as sustainable a method as possible. I guarantee that now there is something EVERYONE can take away from our videos!!!
    As always, I will be building something, all the time. But now, it will be on a smaller scale. Eco and I will be feeding squirrels, so that we can torment them with "squirrel-proof feeders", spinners and "flingers" (just a little though, they will still eat hearty). Being smack in the Central Flyway, we will try to attract as many birds to our feeders as possible. Being on the top of "zone five" horticulturally, we will raise a "Michigan Garden" to be proud of and show you some forgotten hints that YOU can use..... with some tasty recipes as well.
    Poultry ownership, sadly, is limited in our municipality, but we can have SOME and we will show YOU how to have a fun, productive, backyard flock! Because of the poultry shortage this year and ALL the stuff we MUST get done, poultry will be next year, 2024.
    AND... if you like fishing, there will be some of that as well! With the new fishing boat, I will take you far into the bush of northern Ontario, to places few whites have ever seen.
    More great stuff and information will come as winter dies and Spring arrives!!!
    YES, I WILL BE APPROVING AND RESPONDING TO YOUR COMMENTS AS WELL!!! Just remember that children will visit here and while they MAY hear every sort on profanity on the schoolyard and their "smart-ass phones", they WILL NOT hear it here or read it. If you now have trouble writing things WITHOUT crude profanity, contact me privately and I will give you HUNDREDS of suitable synonyms you CAN use here and everywhere else.

      Being an "on grid" home, we may very well appeal to MORE people with our work here.

      She smoked for 55 years, but still made 80. I think my point is that THAT was the thing that made me realize that I am old and that "the end" definitely WILL come. We never think in those terms when younger. But I am ten years away from 80, so this "incarnation" of us will be the "last" and the one where we do what we want. I plan on getting as much of the old ways and knowledge recorded in the rest of these videos, as well as warnings for what the unrestrained future MIGHT bring.

      We felt that there is still a lot we can show through videos, so I will continue for a while anyway.
      We are both through with west Texas though. The dust is the biggest problem and we could never go back to that!

    My grandparents were from Alpena and Rodgers City, MI. I recently found Alpena newspaper clipping from the 1950's. My husband and I run a 100-acre farm in SE Ohio and are in our 60's. We got old, too. My aunt is selling her home in Alpena this year. Is this a sign?

    • @ecoranchusa
      @ecoranchusa  Год назад

      We never see ourselves aging. A sign is needed to show us. My sister smoked for 55 years and earned her demise. Still, it was a sign or wakeup call that "if not now... when?"

      Road was deteriorating and law enforcement allowed others to block it if they wanted....... no water......... too much dust, especially IN lungs....... 65 miles to hospital and doctors...... tourist prices year around....... REAL shopping over 200 miles away....... do you really need more???

    Only 23 hrs and 55 min from Central Texas. Just a weekend away! Welcome back to the civilized world! I bet you even have high speed internet and an auto repair shop close by. To say nothing of a local Home Depot. McDonalds has free coffee for Seniors in most places. The perks just keep piling up!

      I have not been seeing many, if any, "senior perks". Seems like they dried up as came to that age! But we needed to be closer to things at this point in life.
