what people don't realize is that Hunter was in constant physical pain towards the end of his life

I physically feel his pain too. I was born with double scoliosis. Will be 35 in feb too which was the superbowl before he killed himself. T_T i just turned 19 before he killed himself.

A one of a kind authentic man!
As our actions define who we truly are, Hunter was truly the unique person he presented through his writings and interviews.
He lived the stories he reported

what's amazing about this man is how dead on accurate he always was in real time, without the luxury of hindsight hunter s. thompson was dead on with his political assessments, charlie rose seems perturbed with him, even thru his meandering his words ring with deafening clarity and truth.
how many people have had their ass kicked by the hells angels and been arrested by the secret service for threatening a vice president with words?
    this man is a legend.

hunter is so kind to rose, even though hes trying to get something out and hes...well sort of interjecting...makes me glad to see all you folks speaking the good truth about this man. as for others, speak with love, so others dont get pissed off hahaha. but hes so kind to listen to roses intellectual babbling, even when hes the character on the show and he could pour useful and intriguing information for hours. even with hunter and all his stardom...there will never be enough footage to last me a lifetime...but his words will guide me bravely through this life...i feel a slight hint of rose trying to prove hes smarter then hunter, which erks me slightly, but hunter handles any situation well, no man can make this legend look dull. pft...just to think of it is a laugh... i understand this is a talk show...but rose is alwayyssss cutting hunter off, let the beautiful man speak

Rose and Thompson were friends , and liked and respected each other and like many in the business gave each other some shit.
Rose is a decent Journalist in his own right , one of the few left.

I wish Hunter was still here. It's sad. we need his voice more than ever.People are slowly starting to wake up. Sure it's not complete and there are still a lot of blinded people out there. But he could of set us in focus better. At least if people were willing to listen.Unfortunately he came at a time when younger people weren't as involved. Now younger people are asking more questions. The internet is allowing them to see beyond mainstream media. Unfortunately we let him down while he was here.

Just listen to the last minute of this video when charlie is reading an excerpt out of the book. You all can get a real sense of what Hunter was about and how he was genius. Charlie laughs it off but every damn word of it is true. It"s intelligent to question as opposed to following everyone into the wreck.

@dkshotwell if someone can effect the way 1 person thinks to the day that person dies, I wouldn't call that a wasted life. If he can open someone's eyes to not take things on face value, that's not a waste. Hunter didn't just do that for 1 person, he did it for a generation. Drugs and alcohol may well have been the reason that Hunter thought like he did, and wrote like he did. He accomplished more in his life, and reached more people than we can ever expect to.

Charlie Rose, bless his heart, has to interject & rush this 'tortured genius' - to cram as many coherant messages as he can between thenecesary commercials paying for the show.
Too damned bad he couldn't snag a one on one special (HBO?) with HST to give him due (and more time).
NO, he wasn't referring to the economy as 'so we can feed our kids and pay our mortgages'.
    SHEESH
I mean, I understand why the hurry - but HST doesn't rush, he flows.

@dkshotwell - Hunter had so many brilliant observations ( i.e. deep thinking ) that one would have to be wasted to miss them. My favorite was his "wave" speech as he called it which came from "F&L in Vegas" ( i'd expect you were at the high water mark breaking that wave).
I've never heard anybody sum up the 1960's so perfectly and i was there so I'm talking from experience.
The amount of great art and music turned out by people that liked their buzz is stunning. You are too narrow-minded.

@@lastofthebest5102it's that savior complex. Ppl that don't have the balls to take responsibility for their life. They want someone else to tell them what to do. We currently have an epidemic of stupid ppl with little to no imagination. Personally, I'd love to see ppl start to find the means of disentangling from the system and setting up off grid societies. The government clearly doesn't give a f about us (just look at what happened in Hawaii) so relying on them is the height of stupidity.

I'm just dumbfounded that our political leadership choices have disintegrated into a self imposed death spiral.
I was not a George W. Bush fan. I thought his spending was out of control and relied too heavily on progressive government expansion.
Then President Obama came along and just stepped on the gas even more.
We are drowning in debt with no chance of climbing out of the hole we've dug for our kids (I have 2 young ones) and it's simply immoral.
What the heck is next? A lying bombastic reality television star? Hillary, the political criminal?
The only honest one seems to be the socialist, and we obviously can't afford HIS programs. Free college, free insurance, free ice cream & puppydogs.
I honestly think we're doomed. If you ever read "the 5000 year leap"? The founders of our country were brilliant and they put in place a political philosophy that has generated the most successful and prosperous country this planet have ever seen.
      Then we destroyed it

@@itscorkand ppl still think Obama was a good President. That man did more to screw this country than ppl realize and a lot of that has come to bear in the years since he left office. My favorite was when they tried to blame the kids in cages at the border on Trump ...when it was actually from the Obama administration. Or the fact he did more drone strikes than Bush Jr. Oh, that Obama loved him some drone strikes. He even killed an American citizen during one of those strikes. But he gets a pass since he was the "first black President". And he didn't do dick for the black community. Completely ignored them.
