    Playa del Carmen, located on the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, is a popular destination for tourists looking for a mix of relaxation, culture, and adventure.
    One of the biggest pros of visiting Playa del Carmen is the beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters. The beaches are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. Visitors can also take advantage of the many water activities available, such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing. The nearby Great Maya Reef, the second largest coral reef in the world, is a must-see for nature enthusiasts.
    Another pro of visiting Playa del Carmen is the rich Mayan culture that can be experienced throughout the area. Visitors can explore ancient Mayan ruins such as Tulum, Coba and Ek Balam, which offer a glimpse into the history and architecture of the ancient civilization. Visitors can also learn about the Mayan culture through local markets, art, and traditional dance performances.
    The city also offers a wide variety of activities, including shopping, dining, nightlife, and adventure sports. Visitors can explore the charming boutiques and markets of the 5th Avenue, indulge in local and international cuisine, and enjoy the vibrant nightlife scene. Adventure seekers can take a zip-line tour through the jungle, swim with dolphins, or go on a cenote diving excursion.
    Playa del Carmen is also known for its eco-tourism and sustainable practices. Visitors can find a variety of eco-friendly tours and accommodations that aim to minimize the impact on the environment.
    One of the cons of visiting Playa del Carmen is the high humidity and heat, which can make it uncomfortable for some visitors during the summer months. Another con is the crowds, as the city can get quite busy during peak tourist season. The high tourist influx can also lead to inflated prices for accommodation and activities.
    Additionally, it is important for tourists to be aware of the potential safety risks in Mexico, such as crime and theft, and take necessary precautions.
    Overall, Playa del Carmen offers a unique combination of natural beauty, cultural history, and modern amenities. While there are cons to consider, the pros of visiting this vibrant and diverse destination make it a worthwhile choice for many travelers.

    I have been visiting Mexico for almost 42 years and has been all over,i did 12 plus diving trips a years to Cozumel as a diving instructor,and still visit 2=3 times a year...since it's just 1:30 hrs flight from where i live...So i have been to The Yucatan hundreds of times..I am well known in Cancun,Playa del Carmen area by the blood suckers,so they just wave and say hello..Never make eye contact...that's the trick....wear dark shades and never answer when they ask you a question..It may sound rude....but the way they pester you is worst....Will be there next month again...

    Just got home form Cancun. Also stayed in Playa del Carmen a few years back. The prices have skyrocketed and Mexicans still don't know how to make Italian food. Make sure to bring a lot of tip money if you want better service. Cancun Airport is still awesome...pricey tho.

    There are a lot of restaurants. Even if you have been there "a few times," how would you really know if the food is good or not? From my understanding there is plenty of fine dining. The nearby restaurants where the locals like to eat are usually excellent and quite affordable.

      "From our experience" we have been to Playa 4 times staying 2 months every time we visited. We love dining visiting places can make or break our experience if the food is not to our liking. We have eaten in the top recommended restaurants on 5th ave. many of them. And we have eaten on the other ave. here you can get tacos for 50 cents and they are amazing. But its not like you have to take our word for it. Your experience maybe different.

  • @JavaWithJune
    @JavaWithJune Год назад +3

    Playa has fresh seafood, just not salmon since it's not native to there. Who the hell orders salmon in Playa?? You won't find it served in any of the legit local places. Playa was actually a fishing town before the tourists came. Sounds like you guys didn't get off la 5a. Did you eat at Las Hijas or El Doctorcito? El Pirata the restaurant also sells fresh fish caught in the morning. Or you can select what looks good and take it home to cook. There's great snapper, shrimp and pulpo (octopus) that's plentiful in the water. If you get up early enough you can catch the fish coming off the boats in the morning at Coco Beach

    I was their Oct 2023. I’m a U.S./Mexican national and as my 1st time in Playa Del Carmen, I was disappointed. Treatment w tourists is very obvious. The locals try to make the most money off you and the quality of food is not good, 5 out of 10. I’ve been to state of Sonora and Baja California and it don’t compare. There very pushy when soliciting. Hamburger patties are garbage. Even though it was my first time their, I recommend you don’t shop or eat on 5th Ave. try going into town as the prices will be lower and quality better. After leaving, I don’t feel empathy for some locals. I say this cause, the look on their face is merciless as they not only lie, but try and get most money out of you.
