    ..in my personal Vision, the canadians was blessed with the best concert of Mr. Al Di Meola....musicians of high quality, including my compatriot Ze Renato, a great singer of the ex-vocal group Boca Livre..and Kei Akagi, a God of the keyboards....the arrangement line of this concert was refined, amazing.......really fantastic..

    Some very beautiful and ethereal music was played during this era of Al Dimeola. HIs rapid-fire muting during the breakdown section of Maraba emulates the heels of a flamenco dancer/his melodic and rhythmic sensibilities are matched by few !!!###

  • @GoMiGman
    @GoMiGman 10 лет назад +7

    Wow, slammin' jammin'! Those were the days and the earlier period when he was touring the Electric Tour and the Tour De Force album with Jan Hammer is some of the best performances I've ever witnessed. Then the acoustic tour with Paco and McLaughlin is from another realm. Great stuff!

    • @geraldwright9841
      @geraldwright9841 9 лет назад +1

      Dude...I saw that Al/Paco/John show in about 1985. Another realm, indeed!

    • @GoMiGman
      @GoMiGman 9 лет назад +1

      Gerald Wright I didn't realize until very recently, though, that there was so much tension between Al and John. I knew there was some, it was evident in the latter tour of the early 90's and not so much in the one of the late 70's early 80's. Just recently someone else on YT linked Al's facebook page and he's talking about that riff and how he had Ovation put in a custom, secret volume control button near the strap button because McLaughlin insisted Al sign a contract that he wouldn't reach over to the standard volume control with his right hand and raise the volume since his Ovation was plugged in and Paco and John were only miced up with their nylons. Imagine that!? The way Al talks about John you can clearly see there's no love lost there and this thing with John is well known with other musicians as well. Al calls him "disrespectful". Too bad, but most of the really good stuff is between Paco and Al while McLaughlin's stuff never interested me as much TBH.

    • @ravimaharaj909
      @ravimaharaj909 9 лет назад

      GoMiGman That's interesting... I have heard that Al can be very egotistical himself. Hes the bomb and his acclaim is well deserved, but I do think he likes to steal the show a bit sometimes... He's insanely good, better than Paco and John imo, but John and Paco are still amazing in their own right. At the end of the day they're all probably quite into themselves and such conflicts will always arise in such realms of artistic expression.

    • @GoMiGman
      @GoMiGman 9 лет назад

      Ravi Maharaj Ravi, you are spot on with every single thing you said. Imagine 3 of the best being put together to perform. At least this isn't sports where the competitive nature take over completely and one must be the eventual victor. At least this is subjective in so many ways but there is still this tremendous, inner competitive drive that forces these behaviors. Frankly, if I was Al, I would've done nothing less even though I love Paco and so did he, but screw McLaughlin let him eat shit for l are and go for being the best and loudest and the most heard! The only way to do it and if the others done like it? Well, eat me! :)

    Great player! I remember seeing this when it aired on Bravo or PBS around '88-'89. Totally phenomenal player. And he plays with perfect playing posture. The height of the guitar and the thick strap make it easier to keep the proper ergonomic posture. This is something more players should do.
