I've been following your channel about 2 years now. I have to say you hit the best shots after you had Malaska's lessons. I'm happy I found his channel via your channel. It was the game changer. I have never hit a ball so far so easily so consistently.
On one of Bobby's other videos he talks about steepening your shoulder plane in the downswing. That helped me get rid of the club quicker. If you don't steepen your shoulder plane, the arms won't be on plane and neither will the club. Then your only first move is to slide something, or everything, offsides. So drop your arms for sure, but steepening the shoulder plane through makes it a heck of a lot easier.
i was watching golf channel and found Brooke Henderson is swinging in line with what Bobby teaches, pulling down and inverting shoulders and letting go of the body.
the more i watch your video the more i understand how it is important to really understand what a good instructor is trying to tell you about the right concepts of the golf swing. we cannot improve without understanding what the golf swing is really about.
I had a problem with hitting it fat, my body started compensation by stalling the hands and the club head would pass my hands. Well I got some advice from a coach that told me to hit down more, and I was like what I'm already hitting it fat. He showed me what I was doing and said I needed to hit down and through and my mind would automatically tell my hands to raise a little bit to allow the club to pass through. So I try to visualize hitting down sharply kinda like Bobby was saying ringing the bell, and also getting my left shoulder to cover the ball and then swing down aggressively towards the ball. It works I've been hitting it dead straight and can now hit a cut which used to be impossible for me.
I have watched almost all of Bobby's videos. This one emphasizes the upright swing of the arms (as advocated by the late John Jacobs, and identified as the "two-plne swing" by Jim Hardy). I find as a taller, older golfer this method gives me the best results. What confuses me is other Bobby Lopez videos where he demonstrates the shoulder turn in the downswing. He shows how the shoulder tilt (rear shoulder going down and under) is important for a proper swing. These videos show the chest open at impact. In this video with Brandon it appears the chest is more facing the ball or only a little open at impact. It is like Hardy's one-plane swing (arms and shoulders swing on one plane) is advocated (at least in the downswing) in the videos about the shoulders and the two-plane swing is advocated in the videos about the arms (see two o'clock drill). Recommend that Bobby create a video discussing the two-plane and one-plane swing and where his instruction and drills apply to such swing methodology.
Brendon I noticed your head moves up in your backswing. Just look at the couple swings you took with the white line drawn. Your head moves away from the white line. Not sure it's a big deal. Just thought I would point it out to you. Great channel you have!
At 5:34.' as you probably know Brandon(?), you show us your usual swing trigger; you drop your hands/ the handle before your start your swing. At 7:18 you dont do this. That was a good swing! And is/was THE best swing youve made so far in all the videos I have seen from you. Thanks.
I stand corrected Brandon. You do drop the handle at 7:18 and 47. But it is rather a sort of press rather than a serious drop of the handle and your torso at 534.
Sure. FWIW Brandon, to change my swing in a major way and for the better I found I had to change the trigger for the old swing that set it in motion. I found that it simply set off the old swing regardless of how much I strove to change it. MIne was a slight forward press. And when I did it I usually got the old swing and all the bad habits that came with it too. I changed my trigger move and have seen seriously better results and practice time with it is really starting to pay off. The new swing and its feel are setting in faster for simply having a new swing trigger and starting point. Its a simple thing that is paying off huge. Also, as Bobby has said your swing is there. Trust it. Thanks
It seems your left arm is disconnecting from your chest on the takeaway. my instructors taught me to keep the left bicep pinned against the chest all the way to the top. result would be a more synchronized, tighter, and consistent swing. there should be no "window" between the chest and left bicep for you to see through from the dtl point of view. just a suggestion lol, i know you prob get many from "experts"
That's why you always see me tuck my shirt into my left armpit before I swing a la Jeff Quinney but you are right when I roll the face back or fold the right arm too soon it does get disconnected.
I'd like to make a swing sugestion fon you. 1. on your back swing lift the club head up by using your left hand to push down on the handle. 2. On the downswing push hard on your left thumb with your right hand. to square the club. Just try this a few times. dont think about anything but these two steps. I bet it helps.. you dont know if you dont try
Never found a need for a 3rd thought. two is enough already in the time to swing back and forward. For me personally, just keeping this two actions in my head only and not worrying about posture, stance, early extention etc it takes any shot anxiety out that may be there. I also found that after a round on the course trying this, my divots were very shallow which may also help Brendan as his Divots are pretty deep.
Manic Moose every time i try firing with my right hand I'll end up hitting a few shanks then the rest of my range session is a waste cuz I'm just trying not to shank...need help
To stop shanks, try to set up to the ball 1 inch further back to the toe of the club is addressing the ball. I can only guess that you are extending your arms with the downswing due to the force of the club head streaching your arms out by an inch.. alternativly just move a little further from the ball and try to find the right distance to stand. I always address my driver off the toe to stop hitting the ball off the heel. As for firing with your right hand you may be trying too much. try it smooth and itll work better
A good thought as you push down with your left hand is an extension of the shaft is going down left leg. This provides the correct angle. Is there a suggestion for pushing down on the left thumb as to the correct hand angle or direction of the push?
Your main problem in my opinion is that you are losing your spine angle slightly at the top of your swing. Work on shorten the swing a bit and keep your spine angle throughout the swing.
You have to get set up with a swing thought that correctly anticipates your swing plane. If your thinking flat and you go high hands your tempo suffers Stick with on swing coach or you will go nuts.many of these guys say things that contradict each other.there is more than one right way to get good results
But this is exactly the problem I have, I just can't shake it off, and I practice a lot, got my own golf room, I find it worse when I get tired, I know what you're saying, you are trying to find the low point and the only way to do is to race ahead with the upper body. I really think it's a leg action problem with myself, don't wanna be rude but I'm not liking this armsy swing, reactionary stuff, gankas seems to have nailed it but that stuff you have to do it exactly right. Remember faldo took a year or two off from playing to overhaul his swing!
Your divot will get more shallow when the handle starts moving up the circle. This will help you deloft the club and hit a little draw. Your arm position at the top was the same when Bobby adjusted you. He just put your left wrist into a little flexion
Ball on a string BEST video arms in front it's the only way to be free of any manipulation SHAWN Clement teaches this type of swing but with more wait on the front leg so you don't have to push your hips forward just swing to a target and that's it great vid
Brendon your attempt to add tilt at set up has the unintended consequence of getting your shoulders aligned way right of target, causing your right forearm to get in a "rolled open" position before you even take the club away. It would be almost impossible to not take the club inside from your setup position.
BE BETTER GOLF grab your club and go in front of a mirror. Look what your shoulders and forearms do when you get into your stance and add tilt, does not make the takeaway easy. The right hand is underneath the left on the grip, right off the bat you have built in secondary tilt without adding any. You can add secondary tilt at address without opening your shoulders up but it feels awkward/like you are just pushing your hands forward.
If you want to be good take another lesson with Bobby Lopez. After 6 year of searching the web and pros to get better nothing worked. But Bobby's video has made me go from shooting 90 to be 120 down to hitting even par consistently after just 2 video from bobby. I can tell you don't fully understand what is trying to teach you .
Too much arms in downswing, You need body turn with arm swing. I find pulling down with the elbows helps divot in front of ball. Weight shift, body turn, elbow, arms, release.
i grand someone said the same criticism of me at the range when i was working on the flamingo drill. but i shot my lowest score recently following these methods.
Michael Libert +Michael Libertin not criticism just my sequence. Watch bobbies swing from 2min his sequence is similar . Elbow leading the arm with body rotation on downswing.
I've been following your channel about 2 years now. I have to say you hit the best shots after you had Malaska's lessons. I'm happy I found his channel via your channel. It was the game changer. I have never hit a ball so far so easily so consistently.
Been following Mr Lopez for several years essential info stay lo in backswing worked for me thanks .

I always go back to this video, fixes me right up

The swing where you mishit the ball after looking at the headcover looked really good
Bobby is the man!!!!!!
Lol I almost thought I was trippin on acid when u slow mo'd your swing and Bobby was walking around in regular speed
lol me too. Wouldn't it be funny if Bobby was just a figment of Brandon's imagination.
Titeillest lol

Good points!
I had to hit a punch low shot 130 y from the green..from under a tree..i took a reacue and dropped the club head on the ball..was very solid contact

Very good stuff!! Thanks.
+Paul Ohrenberger thx
So keep back to target and swing arms down ?

Yeah, I can do it just as long as I don't do a really deep press down.
Sure. FWIW Brandon, to change my swing in a major way and for the better I found I had to change the trigger for the old swing that set it in motion. I usually have quite thin shots when I do this drill. Trouble to get low point correct, I guess a lot of drilling required.
This is basically a no turn and cast swing.
GOOD ON Bobby he pointed to exactly what your problem with bw was..

I noticed in the Slow mo your still throwing the right shoulder. Its hard ti fight but its looking better.
Your right arm swing looks much better.
I'd like to make a swing sugestion fon you.

WOW...At 1st I was trying to picture it in my mind and it didn't seem to make sense. I was like, ??? Then I tried it with the club...WORKS!

Bio mechanics vs swing model at work

You are turning your head funky again...
Thom Bendtsen this lesson actually happened before the head tilt lesson (right before)
this is direct opposition to just about every other teacher I've seen who all say you should drag it through....
Agreed, except for Mike Malaska

What is this....oh my
“ it’s not the club”-
Dude if you would stop interrupting Bobby like you did at the 4:58 mark we could learn it.
Your elbows spread a lot in the takeaway
