  • We spent 4 days in San Francisco and loved riding the cable cars. It was like a ride at an amusement park as I was hanging out with my hair blowing in the wind, bells ringing, tracks clattering on the city’s infamously steep heels. The cable car system in San Francisco invented by Andrew S. Hallidie built in 1873 is the only one left in the world that still works. These cable cars move by holding onto an underground cable that is always moving. The cable is driven by an engine in a powerhouse. If you visit San Francisco, it is an absolute must to ride the iconic cable cars!
