Discovered her first album in 1975 while serving USAF at Lowry AFB in Colorado. Her voice here is just as rich, the lyrics just as stirring as then. She is truly an exceptional artist. Lyrics in her songs are so meaningful, not lightweight. And she has the perfect voice for these emotional songs. TY Ms. Bonoff. Your artistry has spoken to an appreciative audience.💞💞✌🏼✌🏼
I can't even begin to say how much I love this song. I wish that there was some kind of record of the first time I saw her open for Jackson Browne in 1977. I still remember being blown away by her performance! I had no idea that the songs that Linda Ronstadt had recorded were written by this amazing woman. And as much as I love Linda's voice, it is Karla's versions that ring true to me!
I have Karla's 1st album (on vinyl) that I bought when it came out, I love it, Karla has this certain sadness deep within, yet her voice brings a relaxing peace that makes you think everything is gonna be OK in the end. Thank you for this.
My favorite too. I only saw Karla once near Templeton (CA) in a concert a week after Kenny died. Kenny had set it up and it was a benefit for a school for handicapped kids. She was still devastated by his passing but, like a trooper, did the concert with a fill-in for Kenny. I would loved to have talked to her afterwards but didn't want to prolong that night for her a minute longer because I knew how hard it had to be for her. Maybe I will have another chance some day.
This lady is so talented. I am not sure if she ever toured England or played London. I have 4 of her albums on vinyl and recently picked up best of on CD. This song was always a personal favourite. I would have loved to seen her back in the late 70s or early 80s. Truly underrated. TK
Me, too, Tony Kerry. Love that CD. Linda Ronstadt once said she wanted to do a whole album of Karla Bonhoff's songs. Fortunately, she did this one and many more. Karla's version of "The Water Is Wide" is my favorite. A song like this sung with a voice like this on an acoustic guitar just puts me away.
She is such a great writer and performer! This is one of my all time favorites. Does anyone know the chords to this? I am a new player and can't tell by looking yet.
One of the best singer songwriters of this century. Way under appreciated!!!!!!! Karla is just awesome.

I have always said that if Linda Ronstadt was better, she would have been Karla Bonoff.
Love this song. Thank you Randy for sharing it.🙏❤️🙏
I saw Karla in ft worth tx in 95, 200 people. just her and Kenny. Great show . I was lucky enough to talk to her after show. What a sweetheart

her voice and style remind me of James Taylor, both great artists.

Bruce Krider Kenny who? Not Kenny Loggins, who is still alive.
@@stephenpowstinger733 Kenny Edwards. He was a session player and worked with Ms. Bonoff and Linda Ronstadt among others.
Saw her in April at Grants Pass Oregon this year.
These downloads from Tokyo are priceless. So great to see her in semi-recent performance. Gracias.
It seems like a just beautiful simple song, then a chord change comes along that just twists your ear and give you goosebumps... I love that... Bravo!
she has such a rich artistry. Nothing lightweight ! Surrounds herself with epic musicians as well. Some from Linda R.

I'd never heard of Nina Gerber before this - very tasteful, eloquent player. She's a great complement to Ms. Bonoff.
She played with Kate Wolf until her death.
Excellent Karla
I love how the audience was absolutely quiet before she started the song.

My favorite was Never Stop Her Heart
WOW...where does she find these chords and changes?? Phenomenal writer
I also like Only A Fool
Ronstadt did it best.
