1:27 "Some people are side sleepers and they've completely ruined their shoulders..." I didn't need such a personal attack LOL
R.eese.2D2 Same. My left shoulder clicks. It’s fun.
I felt it too T-T
Mine are totally shot from grade one and 2 AC Separations
Jerrad McDonald bro same by my right 😂😂
R.eese.2D2 bullshit. Sleeping sideways is the healthiest position you can be in. It won't fuck up your shoulders or anything.
I like how Ryan incorporates safety advice into his videos. As a lot of us have no friends and train alone this is invaluable.
No advertising, no sponsors, no small talk. Just straight to the point. Don’t ever change your format because I have gained very well thanks to your videos. I love your videos, thanks!
I love how you jump right into it. No extended intro. No wasted time. Perfect trainer
The most no bullshit fitness channel ever. Video starts and straight to the point. 👌
Ryan you have revolutionized and revitalized my whole training regime. Shoulders create such a good aesthetic, keep up the good work pal and keep growing
Side sleeper here. Can confirm. Literally impossible for me to fall asleep any other way though.
Found your channel a few days ago and I'm very impressed. I'm 53 now and I've been lifting off and on since I was 14. I love finding new tweeks and ideas to keep things interesting while still being smart about it. Great videos Ryan.
Hey Mr. Humiston, I've been watching your videos for a while now.
I very much like your straightforward, no b.s., approach.
I'm an old dog, and can very easily relate to the exercises you show, as being effective and sound.
Made me jump back some years...
Keep on with the good work!
Ryan actually posted 3 VIDEOS today, but he is so silent and smooth, that nobody noticed.
I'm new to this channel, this guy is likeable due to his way of talking and his undeniable knowledge. Also he doesn't film a movie to explain things, he gets quickly to the point. The side laterals on the incline bench are murderers, don't you dare lift heavy on these, you are going to snap your shoulders.
Ever since I’ve been following your vids I’ve noticed that my body is changing. I’m seeing faster results. Thank you Ryan💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Why are you so ahead of the game? The tips you give are so simple yet no one has ever given them before. These vids are the best on RUclips. I can’t wait to see your channel go massive and it’ll be great knowing I’ve been following you from the beginning. Keep it up Ryan!!
Hi Ryan. I’m a recent sub from England and really like your approach to videos, no messing around and just focussing on specific muscle groups and I really like the idea of maximising time under tension. I’m going to be 45 this year and would appreciate a video on training as an older guy. I know there’s loads out there, but it’s such conflicting information, it would be great to have a straight answer. Many thanks and cheers for the fabulous channel!
With regards to the seated press - and only in my humble opinion . . . A standing press offers a few benefits over seated presses:
1. Both versions work the core very well, but if legs are kept out of the equation with a disciplined stance I think standing has the edge on core work;
2. Standing allows for a ‘leg spring’ assist on the last set; and,
3. Standing allows for a quick egress and weight drop if absolutely necessary.
Thanks for the other variations! Take care.
Ryan has not stopped! Full on quality content
I’ve been watching his videos for like 2 months now and gained 4-5kg because of his exercises and change of diet. I took me 2 years to gain such an amount of weight before. He’s working!
I gained 1kg of muscle just by watching the vid so..
I can’t live no more without you man
Bodybuilder with intact senses.. rarely seen such combo.. Worth watching you.. Salute from India.
I drive a forklift for 12 hours a day 6 days a week. Ain't no way I'm spending my free time doing an exercise that simulates driving
I laughed
I have a good one for you, i was car mechanic 8 hours a day 6 days a week. Then after the job, at home, i was watching racing on tv all evening...then on week end i was actually racing my car on the track. Thats a true car guy.
kristpuncher Haaaaaa!
You work alot
J. Rambo No one cares 🤷🏼♂️ what a pointless & irreverent story
That bucket you said catches rain, and throw up,don’t forget you can shit in it too,I used to be a commercial fisherman, the 5 gallon bucket is what we shit in,but make sure you always have it tied down because one big wave and your bucket is gone so you have to shit over the railing for the rest of your trip, make sure to hold on or your life will end while your shitting,oh the lessons of life, glad to be telling this one, lol.!!!
Hi Ryan love to see some your take on stuff around older aged lifters issues eg joints lower back crap / working with injured body parts etc
Lee, you are looking in the wrong place for what you request. Two recommendations for any lifter but especially older, injured ones.
First, get your body working correctly, i.e., hip, shoulder, ankle, etc mobility. Check out SmashweRx. Granted he is a bit hard to take at first but you WILL learn why you have limited movement, why you hurt and how to correct it. I spend 20-30 min before or after every workout to fix my issues.
Second, if you want to know which movements should be avoided, what ones are better for you, what changing angles and speed can do or what a variety of exercises for the same muscle does, then watch Athlean-X for the best damn education you can get on training. No, his videos are not 3-4 min long but that is why he can explain everything in detail.
Do I watch Ryan vids? Yes I do because I keep an open mind and have learned and adopted a few of his ideas. He is good for those that can't be bothered to put in the time that is needed to learn the details needed to stay healthy. They won't be in the game for long. Ryan also offers some advice that is not so good, although I give him credit that he always prefaces it with, 'If you don't already have a problem it is probably OK' or 'I don't have trouble with such and such movement myself'. Ryan is pretty sketchy on details for beginners that don't do further reading. This is obvious by the number of requests for Ryan to 'explain' this or that.
So, first take note of what hurts you and watch SmashweRx to start fixing the issues. And remember, there are dozens of videos on each problem. You don't have to do all one vid, Simply pick a few fixes you like from different vids using equipment you have, combine them to your liking and get your body working right. Then start watching Athlean-X to learn even more about joints, tendons, ligaments, etc and try alternatives to movements that hurt. Learn new variations to keep you going and try some athletic routines now and then.
OK, so by now I know all the fan boys are gritting their teeth and mother-f#ckering me up and down like what the f#ck does he know. Well let me tell you. I am 66, 5'10, 223 lbs with abs showing. Not ripped as Ryan (I like my bar nights) but I will match my calves against his. I have been in gyms (not health clubs) for 40+ years. Do I understand when you say pain and injuries? I have survived 5 motorcycle crashes and too many fights and brawls to remember. I've worked miserable, hard jobs that took their toll on my body. All in all, every joint in my body has been injured numerous times. I have lost count of broken ribs and bones. Am I determined? Last crash busted my shoulder, two ribs and my hand. I still worked out three times a week doing legs on machines.Did it hurt? Yes, it was a bitch. All the youngsters looked at me like I was crazy. I heard them refer to me as the Animal and it made me grin, but I never stopped working out. I worked around. And that is the key. I never juiced in all those years and that is a good thing as I have fought bladder cancer and secondary polycythemia these past 12 months and after recovery I am STILL lifting hard and I am almost back to pre-operation/treatment condition.
I've seen the wanna-bees come and go as well as all the 'fads' that start and then burn out. What I can tell you is don't stop watching Ryan as his direct approach, the fact that he teaches 'do what feels best to YOU', his variety of angles and his 'widow maker' attitude is outstanding. That's what I love about Ryan. Watch him, pick what you like than watch Athlean-X to see details of how and why it works . Jeff was a turn-off at first until I realized he knows what he is talking about. Over a thousand videos covering everything you could want to know. Between Ryan, Athlean-X and SmashweRx you have access to a vast amount of information that was never available to us old gym rats and all of it by guys that actually know what they are at the top of the heap. Free information that will grow you faster, safer and healthier than all the bro science being spewed. Then, if you want to get into power lifting or bodybuilding, then go and find guys that specialize to help with that (Thrall and Nippard for instance). Lift hard, lift smart, live long (maybe).
Crazy how quickly this channel grew. Also crazy how a lot of the exercises I see here seem to turn up on instagram a few days after video being posted
Best fitness channel on RUclips. Do nutrition videos for plant based diets
A life changing tip : never miss Ryan's new videos !
Great shoulder workout-Keep the vids goin
RYAN IS THE REAL DEAL !!!
Perfect Day to drop a shoulder workout as today is my shoulder day💪🏼
World's most generous soul. Ryan Humiston, may the Goodness bless you even more. Next time in US, I gonna drive upto you in Arizona, and Shake hands with you. Best regards. Anand Gopinathan. MBBS India 1995, MD Internal Medicine 2000, FRACP ( SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA )
Love the dual purpose Homer bucket! LOL Thanks for all the great (and prolific) content
Thank you sir, May I have another. Complete killer workout. 😎🥺
I thought I was the only one with a painful right shoulder because I’m a side sleeper.
I tried and will implement all these after today with some regularity. Thanks
Ryan, I truly appreciate everything you're doing! I believe I've watched all of your videos, and was wondering have you done a dedicated Rotator Cuff vid? If not could you?
I am 42, and was hurt in the military, but still have a solid foundation in fitness/ lifting. My problem is that after years of surgeries and therapy, I'm finally getting my strength back, but have noticed tremendous differences in how my body responds now vs 10 years ago. My strength is getting to a point where I'm lifting heavier, and I've started noticing some irritation in support musculature(like those of the rotator cuff). I don't want to plateau my growth, but have seriously cut down on further increase in weight/rep combinations out of fear of injury to an aging body. To put that in perspective, I am using your suggested lifts for much of my workouts, including "hammer-style shoulder presses" with elbows tucked instead of flared and religiously avoid "ego" weight amounts (I am strong enough to overhead press 70lb dumbbells, but stick to 30lbs or lighter). Anyway, sorry for the life story, and thanks again for your help to all of us!
Your videos are awesome! Would love to see a week/rotational gym plan. Feels like I’m picking and choosing the workouts in your videos for certain muscle groups
I might try that seated OHP. I was thinking about going to the z-press due to injuries, but sitting on a bench seems a little more practical. Standing OHP is a the longest kinetic chain you can put together, so if you have injuries or weak spots, you're gonna have issues with it and probably won't give your shoulders the workout they deserve.
Been doing that weight driving exercise since you came out with a few weeks and can tell a big difference already. Also sitting down and doing that lift is better than standing up!
Absolutely love this one! Please do more of these with the sets and reps listed.
Brian Hetzel reps and sets listed under video
@@Marx1963 I saw it. I was just saying he needed to do more videos like this one.
After following Ryan and following his workouts, I’ve seen shoulders and chest bulking up...
dali aljene Burn! 💥
dali aljene sorry bud, I’m getting bigger... I’m getting big...
small rear delts crew checking in
As always clear and concise. Thank you.
I love your videos sir, great work!
Great info-due to length of a persons arms, you can get great results with small weights-especially rear & side delts- I use tight circular rotations with arms extended & 5 lb weights...
I tore my rotator cuff and bicep tendon years back during wrestling and was given similar exercises and have had zero issues since. I use 7.5-10lb dumbells held straight out to side and make very smal circles...50 forward 50 backwards after every workout. Feels like it really reaches the core of my shoulder.
This dude is one of them Spartans...
Love the vids. I found you a little bit ago, and like the litte tweaks here and there. Keep it up. God bless.
I like the tune. Its a tune that I know from another thing I listen to... Revived Thoughts podcasts make it their intro and outro music too
Most people have over dev. front delt.. Me inc. I spend most most of my shoulder with cable side raises, but I tilt forward to hit different angles of of side delts.. 10 sets, 2 times a week... I then go into some presses and rear delts.
You're killing me dude. Thanks though, your routines are great.
Side sleeper, and NO issue with shoulder mobility.
To increase shoulder mobility, and a warmup before doing these exercises, grab a bar, or something long, with both hands (wide grip), raise bar over your head and then behind until bar is at your back, WITHOUT releasing your hand grip.
Over time, decrease grip distance.
Also, you can raise one hand up and behind, while the other hand stays stationary out to that side, then alternate.
These videos are gold man love it keep sending it. Got anything a little out of the ordinary for traps?
250k coming up! Love the videos Ryan!
Dang, Ryan's shoulders are HUGE!
Ryan love the videos I have seen more results than I’ve ever gotten. Thank you so much one thing I want to tackle is my love handles any tips to get them lower other than dieting I got that down packed
Ryan please make a video on Calves muscle.
Thanks
Love this guy.
What? A surprise sequel to my favorite video?!
SURPRISE!
I was thinking about delt exercises for tomorrow, because we will be in gym on sport lesson i guess. Ty very much!
Really really awesome.. tq bro😬💪💕
Ryan, new fan man but hell you're full of tidbits that can change your view on training, but one thing that i didn't hear you about is going to failure, care to share your take on it?
1:30... man i even suck when I sleep!😞
No you don't sleeping sideways is the healthiest position you can be in while sleeping.
A.d. Kuzhan Golly... ya thing so... ya think so???
Cranjis McBasketball just sayin
A.d. Kuzhan Haha im just fuckin around!🤣🤣🤣
A.d. Kuzhan not good for your shoulders
Hay Ryan thanks for that, it'll be perfect for shoulders tomorrow. Do you have any diet tips or any more workout on lats?
The last excercis the Max verstappen burn👍😜
For me train rear delt, rear delt, rear delt. That’s always my lack.
Face Pulls my dude. Best for rear delts and also a lot of rowing wether it's seated rows or bent over barbell rows. You could also try out the reverse pec deck although i hate that machine but who knows try it out.
Thedudeabides803 I recommend shoulder rows and bodyweight exercises targeting the rear delt as well as the whole shoulder. Should help a lot. My shoulders look good, I just need to work on my triceps more. :P
Only thing u need for rear delt is wide as possible grip Lat pull downs. I guarantee ur rear delt will go massive
Trolls: You always use such a short range of motion. Ryan at 1:13: Hold my beer.
Good stuff, thanks Ryan
Any time Ryan says "We're gonna add a tweak to make it a little better", I immediately hear "We're gonna add a tweak to make it infinitely more painful."
YOU are really big and great 😍😍
He is the man 💪💪💪❤
Can you make another video about triceps and fix imbalances . My left arm is very weak
Love the shoulder video
Legend
Love the videos! Could you maybe do a glute workout video?
That's gay.
Instead of Bus Drivers... I do an angled (in front of my face) Front or Forward Raise with Dumbbell, because I feel it more... personally works better for me.
Please make a video on full week workout plan.
Hey Ryan great vid. Question: would you say hitting specific areas like this hard is better for mass than hitting upper/lower more broadly but more frequently? Been struggling with this myself lately.
I’m a medical student and I like to weight train. The biggest obstacle is time. Maybe do a video on how to do an intense muscle building workout in 30-40 mins. I’m sure many busy people would benefit
Great instructional videos...!! What about elastic bands? (41" loop bands)
Two uploads today! What's going on?!?! 😂
HE THINKS HE'S RAMBO!
Hey can you post some more dumbbell bicep workouts
Alright alright...good week-end to all!!
Love it when people that juice think they know about lifting when in reality they can lift anyway with almost any form and still grow thanks to the juice
Make a video about best exercises for biceps peak
Had no idea that movement was called bus drivers.
Now I can say I like to do bus drivers.
I need to be a coach like you some day
What’s your diet consist of? I’ve been focusing on my diet more over the past year and I’m just curious what works for you. Thanks for the great content.
Believe he's a Vegetarian
Excellent thanks again
Hey Ryan good week end to you big man!!
Can you elaborate on the side sleeper thing? Does is ruin your shoulder?
I’ve been a sub since the beginning. Great vids. How about one on Deloading?
Can you put the sets and reps on every video for each body part ? Also can you put the range of recommended weight for each exercise?
I’m curious if u would do a video of how to fix rounded shoulders
Great tips
Sir please make full weekly workout plan with sets and number of reps....
What would be your suggestion for someone who has a problem with gains and definition? I know everyone is different but just looking for ideas other than taking supplements and or ..... I somewhat eat clean, lift moderate weight, had shoulder surgery year and half ago, and trying to do what I can to get back into little shape and want gains and strength but look havmlf way decent as well
👍
I have a cartilage operation on my right knee and I'm afraid to squat, so what do you recommend for squats? Dave
would pair it with some external rotation exercises tho
I have been working out at home for a month. I was at a nice hotel and used their weight room. I felt like I had a very good chest workout. Next day I wasn’t sore. Does that mean it wasn’t a good workout?
When are we getting a workout routine from u.
Most of ur subscribers need this.
Bless us with one
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Yea please!! Get after it!!
Thank you so much
Perfect, thanks !!!
Thanks 👍😊
