@thebaconboy I was thinking maybe the lyrics mean that none of the bad stuff matters much because we're all on a death trip. You know, life is kind of a death trip.
Well it's a death trip trying to follow someone else's dream When the world that you know goes splitting at the seams I love my little baby like i love my old machine She left me for a feller that she hardly ever seen I'm on a death trip baby, i'm on a death trip Well my world tumbled down when the leaves began to fall She took out all her dresses and her picture in the hall I found her car standing running at the shopping mall And the phone never rings and i'm a staring at the wall I'm on a death trip baby, i'm on a death trip. Well the teacher and the preacher said my world was burning down My daddy said he didn't want to see my face around The police pulled me over on the other side of town Said the lawyers and the deacon said i sold it by the pound Well my old man told me that i better pack up all my things And find a place to live if i had a half a brain He left me selling papers standing freezing in the rain And i thank jesus everyday i won't grow up again I'm on a death trip baby, i'm on a death trip. Well i finally found a woman that could ease my troubled mind I hug her in the morning and i kiss her all the time When i come home from working you can see my baby shine And the boss man tries to keep me working overtime The sun shines down on our faces all the time When her car won't start i can let her drive in mine...
thank you so much. this song is my favorite song of all other songs in my native language and others. also the true blood is my fav series. but this lyrics is so hard, and you wrote it down so I can follow it. sorry for my bad english but thank you very much
And Jonothan this has most certainly not been around as an "old time" bluegrass song, listen to the lyrics, "left her car standing running at the shopping mall" its not as old as you think it is, def. composed in the early 2000's
Actually Wesley your completely wrong, this is an original by Danny Barnes, performed w/yonder mountain, cornbread nation, high on the hog, bad livers, and several others...true blood aside this isnt a bad version, better than Jeff Austin all coked out screaming at the top of his lungs(like so many shows I've been to)!!!
Yeah man I hear ya. Check out the comic series American Vampire. Eventually someone will have to make that a show/ movie. Writer Scott Snyder specifically partnered with Stephen King to help him launch the origin story to take it back from the teeny boppers.
Obviously it wasn't written for True Blood, but this is the original version. Jeff Austin collaborated with this guy (Danny Barnes) a lot and would also play the song with YMSB.
One of the perks of watching shows like True Blood is being treated to all this music I would have never known of otherwise.
yeah I've heard this song in a hard rock version, rap version and even a EDM version lol
I love this so much, it makes me smile. Country rap tune.
the music at the end of True Blood is always awesome!
Thats because it's got a banjo in it. The damn things can make anything sound happy.
This song is like butter on hot toast.
Words cannot describe how much I fucking love this song. LOVE LOVE LOVE

@thebaconboy I was thinking maybe the lyrics mean that none of the bad stuff matters much because we're all on a death trip. You know, life is kind of a death trip.

Jeff Austin and ymsb brought me here.
Thus I must be still. Blue Dream baby
@ironstrongwill Aren't we all on a death trip?
Not all. Physically, yes. Some know the way to eternal life.
Zero people aren't on a death trip!
And Jonothan this has most certainly not been around as an "old time" bluegrass song, listen to the lyrics, "left her car standing running at the shopping mall" its not as old as you think it is, def. composed in the early 2000's

Favorite....come you do the same True Blood
what's true blood? bad livers rock.
The best HBO series ever made!
anyone come here from il2 birds of prey b17 vid?
What does checking my bread ball mean? 😅
Bread balls are usually bait 😂
why is it true blood on this song
Because it was used in the end credits of an episode.
Actually its originally by The Yonder Mountain String Band Matt S.
No it's not. Jeff Austin used to collaborate with this guy, who's the original artist. That's where Yonder got it from.
@Freg1Frack Me lol....
Really? I'm pretty sure it's an original composition by Danny Barnes
Great song........joke of show. To be fair the opening credit sequence is pretty decent.........that's pretty much it.
yeah i wish they would make atleast 1 decent vampire series, something like the movie DayBreakers
Yeah man I hear ya. Check out the comic series American Vampire. Eventually someone will have to make that a show/ movie. Writer Scott Snyder specifically partnered with Stephen King to help him launch the origin story to take it back from the teeny boppers.
Paul Jones True Blood was the best, I agree the ending should have been more like the book but still 1 of my top shows. Love this song too
What a terrible version of this song. This was not written for True Blood, this has been around for a long time as a bluegrass song.
Obviously it wasn't written for True Blood, but this is the original version. Jeff Austin collaborated with this guy (Danny Barnes) a lot and would also play the song with YMSB.
