I'm just back from our local butchers - 100 yards up the road. 1lb bacon, 1lb Pork Sausages, 1lb Pork Steaks, 1lb Diced Chicken, 1lb Minced Steak and two large Bury Black Puddings. Just £20! 🤪 I'm in for a meaty weekend and may have to revisit before Christmas Day! 🤪🍽️
I 'm in South Wales, and although we are the lowest paid in the country, I would probably have to pay around £40 for that lot, at the ONLY butchers in our town of 147,000 people.
As I've said here before, I live next door to the village Butchers and their Sausages are just fantastic!! They've been using the same recipe for years and people keep coming back for more. Today, Saturday Dec 21st, they were SOLD OUT at 10.00 am until fresh ones are made for Monday (if they've got enough Pork!!) and that included all the extra ones made for Christmas sales. They're Bloody Good!!
Hey Melissa I miss my friends shop, home made everything from bacon to ham's and sausages of which my favourite was pork with fennel and a touch of chilli
You can't beat the farm shop I go to, their black pudding, steak and ale pies, steak, pork, lamb....... It's not cheap but the quality is second to none. I'm going tomorrow to pick up a rib of beef for Christmas dinner and yes I've been saving up since last January, support your local artisan producer.😋😋😋
Richard Woodalls Cumberland sausage is without doubt the finest Sausage you will ever eat. The last two pubs I've worked in sold Woodalls sausage and it was the top seller on the menu it is delicious. Serve with creamy Mash and a rich onion Gravy anyone caught putting this sausage into a microwave should be ashamed of themselves
I can appreciate your appreciation of these butcher's sausages, but I have also eaten some pretty fantastic sausages during my life. The secret to good flavour is to look for very high pork content. I do score Aldi or Lidl top of the range sausages as darned good for the price, and a German Bratwurst from Lidl is really tasty.
You've succeeded in making me hungry after watching this one Gareth. Nadolig Llawen . Merry (lit. Joyful ) Christmas from Wales. Have a great time with your family.
When cooking Sausages, I always lay them on a wire grid over a baking tray, and pop them into my trusty Gas Oven, Gas Mark 6, for 25-30 minutes. That way, they come out browned all over-there's no need to turn them around during cooking! They make a wonderful Dinner, with Mash, assorted fresh Veg...and Onion and Garlic Gravy. Food for Cumberland and Lincolnshire Pork Sausage Lovers!.....🥰....🥰....!
@@paulfosbery6026 My mum ran a B&B for a while and she always did sausages and bacon in the oven. She would've been slaving over a frying pan all day otherwise!
I was brought up in our family corner shop, dad would send me to the village butcher for the sausages ,and I’d be fascinated watching them being made . Couldn’t have been fresher. Yum.

Them sausages looked terrific Gareth, Cumberland are by far the best flavour. I think Queen Elizabeth II is still being used because it was her who granted the Royal Warrant of approval 👍👍
A few years ago me and my now fiencee were staying with friends in your part of England Gareth and we were given a pack of Richard Woodalls cumberland sausages and I'm not a all surprised that you liked them. .i love cumberland sausages and they were absolutely amazing. Great video as ever Gareth..have yourself a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
A happy Christmas to you and your family, Bald foodie guy! My daughter says ketchup 😲, my vote goes to Brown sauce! Anyway, these look very tasty! And no bogging gristle bits in them, now THAT'S a decent sausage! Sausage makers take note! The approval on your face tells me all I need to know! Great review as always 👍
My auntie used to bring me butcher's sausages ,when she and my uncle owned a butchers shop ,she'd bring me ,sausages they were the best and like a beef stir fry and some vegetarian pastries she made herself that were amazing all for free ,that was in 1990s you couldn't get decent sausages back then unless they came from a butchers ❤
The best Sausage you can get in the Country. I go there often for my supplies. Great video. Cheers. Merry Christmas to You and your family and all the Foodies of the channel.
speaking as a seasoned sausage consuming veteran; good stuff! try Chinese sausages if you haven't i spent many years living in a flat above a butcher shop who experimented with a wide variety of sausage and black pudding 'formula', one notable pairing was their beef and tomato sausages.
Best sausage in the world in my opinion. The Barlow's Farm shop in Baycliff Cunbria used to come a close second place to these before they closed unfortunately. Woodall's dry cured bacon also best in the world too 👍
Thank you Gareth for this lovely vlog wishing you and all your family a happy Christmas and a happy healthy new year hoping you continue to be strong and keep up the good work best wishes Sheila and family
All across the lands of England and Ireland are butchers; bakers; fishmongers; farmers producing high quality products at, in the main, fair market prices. We need to do what we can to support these people. In my home town of Dundalk we have a pork butcher who produce a red pudding. I like black and white pudding but they just don’t compare to this red one. We have a beautiful nearby lough called Carlingford Lough and the oyster they farm are amazing. Don’t get me wrong supermarkets serve an important function but they have such a major impact on local producers!
The best sausages I've had recently, and I've recently bought butchers ones, are the Lidl caramelised onion ones. They're the nicest ones I've ever had. Ever.
Do not cut sausages down the middle. Pick them up and bite them off one by one or in a sandwich till all gone. I've gone to the kitchen now. Your videos make me so hungry. Brilliant 🙂👍
I grew up in the 1960’s and my family always bought “ Gibsons Sausages” proper butcher sausage but I haven’t seen them for years… Merry Christmas Gareth!👍🏻🎅🏻
Agreed, Once upon a time Richmond were OK for a pack bought in a supermarket, But not for a good few years now.... In the 80's I used to like Bernard Mathew's turkey sausage but don't know why they stopped making them.....xx
Try Lidl pork with honey and mustard....made by Cranstons....ex Woodall butcher. 400g Pack of 6 with yellow label @ £2.49. I used to make the trip to Woodalls once or twice a month for their Cumberland sausage, but find these just as good if not better and more accessible than the 5 hour round trip to Waberthwaite ! They also do Cumberland and Toulouse sausages in similar packaging which are interesting for any sausage fans out there to try. Anybody thinking of making a trip to Woodalls needs to phone them to reserve what they want, as more often than not by the time you get there they have none of what you wanted left.
