I remember watching this with my dad when I was like 9 or 10 or something.. he didn't shelter me.. wanted me to see a masterpiece for what it was.. haven't seen it since 99.. about to watch it for the first time in 20 years.
One of my all time favorites. The lack of color sets a great scene in every shot. The moving scarecrow warning of impending doom is just great. Excellent acting by all. Great horsemanship throughout. Johnny Depp's fainting was hilarious bringing out the Ichobod Crane character's fear. Always playing thru October. Great cinematography.
Excellent movie. I have watched the movie countless times and I always see something I didn't see before. Brilliant display of visuals as to the time period. The headless horsemen caste a bleak and dismal environment void of sunshine but filled with darkness. This is my favorite movie, and I make sure to watch everytime it's on cable.
Johnny Depp is one of the most versatile actors out there,so much talent, I've been secretly in lust with him and in love with almost every character he has played since a nightmare on elm street
Tim Burton is a great director. Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite movies, I've watched it many times, a great adaptation based on the Washington Irving's short story.
he did indeed play the mad hatter in alice in wonderland also jack sparrow and sweeney todd and ichabod of course and edward scissorhands and i could go on with the list but atleast those are the most popular ones
People always praise the cinematography in this film, but I think the sound components are equally well done. The voices of Ichabod, Van Tassel, and even the barrister in the beginning add so much richness to the film. I could listen to these characters speak, with my eyes closed and be perfectly content.
First film that I've ever seen in my life when I was around 4-5 years old and yet I did'nt realize that Johnny Depp was here in this movie. Man you are a legend
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking to myself...I want to make movies like that. I would like to remind Tim Burton to make movies like this again instead of his new shenanigans. This is a beautiful movie, and yes, Johnny Depp, when he wants to, is a brilliant actor. Love the guy.
What a star-studded film this was. Dumbledore, Rita Skeeter, and Vernon Dursley from HP, Alfred Pennyworth from Tim Burton's Batman, the late & great Sir Christopher Lee, Christopher Walken, and Emperor Freaking Palpatine.
The fact that the age difference is so obvious is a bit uncomfy, sure Johnny looks young for his age but Christina looks REALLY young. But from what I recall they never actually kissed in the movie (not counting her kissing him on the cheek in a game) despite there being plenty of opportunities where it seems like it could happen, yet they only hug, and part of me feels like they did that on purpose since he's almost old enough to be her dad
Tim Burton really nailed down the fun atmosphere of Halloween in this film. The old New England set, lighting, props, fog, color, effects, etc. The film is beautiful.
Unbeknownst to him, Captain Jack Sparrow fathered a daughter with one of his many tarts on the isle of Tortuga. The mother and child soon relocated to colonial New York. Jack's daughter was a free spirit who grew up and married much older Reverend Crane, a religious zealot who imprisoned her and eventually murdered her based on his belief that she was engaging in witchcraft. Ichabod is the spitting image of his grandfather.
Love this movie it's my favorite adaption of Washington Irving's Sleepy Hollow! Finally bought a copy of this in a yard sale about a month back for $2 can't beat the price as it looks basically brand new with no scratches on the disk. I can't help but love this film it's honestly an homage to the Hammer horror films, and my favorite movie for a lot of genres. This is my favorite Spooky/Horror/Thriller/Halloween/Johnny Depp/Tim Burton Movie. And I can't believe how young Johnny Looks in this film I originally though he was in his mid to late twenty's at the most i.e. (25-28) It wasn't until I looked up his age that I realized he was 36 years old when this released and probably 35 when filming it! He really aged incredible well.
I just went to The Sleepy Hollow Cemetery on Halloween in 2022. Very big, mysterious, creepy yet beautiful. Leona Helmsley and Andrew Carnegie resting places to name a few. The bridge where Ichabod Crane died is right near the rear entrance.
likely the best although incredibly bloodier version os the so creepy classical tale, that catches the threatening essence of the horseman perfectly, alongside a scenario totally dark and unsettling, another masterpiece of the extraordinary Burton.
You can tell that the colors are more vibrant in the trailer and they greyed it up for the movie. But I kind of wish that they had kept it as it was. As beautiful as the film is.
I like that the trailer didn't necessarily give away whether the horseman is a live man doing all of this, or a spectral force. There is one scene in the movie that gives it totally away, a great sequence, and they had the sense not to put it in the trailer, as fabulous as it is. Fun movie, great for October viewing again and again!
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton is a match made in movie heaven
En español por favor
tim is what made johnny depp
Sucks Depp could find the same in his personal life😢
They peaked with Sweeney Todd, although I enjoy Dark Shadows.
I´m afraid this piece of art is underrated. It´s not only about horror, suspense and freaks... it´s about fine art, beauty and a master work.
it's one of the very few movies i come back to watch now and then. just magical
7,3 on imdb, 70% on Rotten tomatoes, 81% on google, box office $207 million. It's not underrated.
Johnny Depp lookin like a snacc
Doctor Oswald yes papi
Whole snacc

Johnny Depp lookin like a snack!

you wrote all same sentiments i have about this masterpiece, this is a true watch for a chiling winter night.
the witch of the western woods sounds like a snow leopard, right?
I think Tim Burton called him the best fainter in movie business or something like that 😂
Why is it that Johnny Depp can play ANY role and be perfectly at ease with it?
He's amazing. And Depp, Burton, and Elfman are the perfect trio.
Because he's a great actor.
Tim Burton + Johnny Depp + Music from Danny Elfman = MAGIC
How handsome Johnny Depp was/is..
REAL
Depp was so good in this movie.

The reason why I love tim burton is weather be it animated or not but Johnny Depp is always there 😍

I love this movie, so entertaining. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are gold together!
The soundtrack in this movie was just genius and the story, stunning.
Every time I see Johnny I fall in love again and again and again....
I remember watching this as a kid and learning the true essence of the macabre through this film. One of Tim Burton’s best.
When horseman was chasing Johnny to cut his head of i was screaming all the time:"NOO NOOO"...my neigbourhs love me😂
Watching an advertisement to watch an advertisement. That's the internet for you.
LOL I said the SAME THING!

The story itself is truly an American but gothic masterpiece.
Johnny is looking so handsome did he played in Alice in wonderland too
He played the role of mad hatter in Alice in the wonderland.
Is that a trick question 😆
he did indeed play the mad hatter in alice in wonderland
also jack sparrow
and sweeney todd
and ichabod of course

and i could go on with the list but atleast those are the most popular ones
Exciting, full of suspense. Depp is one of my favorite actors of our time.
How the hell is this 20 years old already
25 now 😮
You're old.
Almost 26 🫢

I just watched this movie on netflix last night, it was amazing! This is one of the greatest movies of all time!
At this point I have no clue what Johnny Depp actually looks like thanks to Tim Burton and I'm absolutely fine with that.
Wdym lol , like ,you don't know what he looks like in his everyday life? because you just see how he dresses and stuff only in movies
@@lisnotliz7487 I just don't, y'know?
Released on the day I was born November 17th,1999. I never knew until now. Everyone needs to watch sleepy hollow it’s one of Johnny’s best movies.
Watch this hundreds of time on H.B.O in my childhood. What a memory!
Same here! I had a really huge crush on Johnny Depp that I get excited seeing the trailer on HBO.
The setting, atmosphere and artistic direction in this film look amazing. I need to watch it.
The most handsome Ichabod Crane
Omg johnny depp looks hot af here
One of the best horror movies I´ve watched. Tim Burton is a genius.
He is.
Epic, written like a Sherlock Holmes classic with our beloved Johnny Depp uniquely portraying the main character as only he can!

This was my first Johnny Depp film. Its the movie that made him so memorable for me before Pirates was a thing.
The spookiest movie ever... And every thing was so very good.
It's good to watch holloween movies, something dark and gothic like Batman 1989, scream trilogy etc.
The spider scene - wasn't expecting that Johnny😅
This film is dope, I haven't seen it in 20 years though, I need a rewatch.
For those who are curious, the music at the beginning is from Jerry Goldsmith’s glorious score to The Haunting, also from 1999 :)
I’ve always loved him in this Film. I saw this for the first time in theatres!!!
Christopher Walken has such a badass war cry
gonna watch again now long time since I saw it...still one of my fav horror movies from the 90s
So good and Johnny just perfect.
What a star-studded film this was. Dumbledore, Rita Skeeter, and Vernon Dursley from HP, Alfred Pennyworth from Tim Burton's Batman, the late & great Sir Christopher Lee, Christopher Walken, and Emperor Freaking Palpatine.
"Sleepy Hollow"(1999) is a good enough historical period fantasy horror movie!
These weird roles were made for Johnny!!😍.This man is stunning and i hope one day he'll get the justice he deserves!
Need more films like that
It s remarkable because most of the films that impressed me in my childhood and I still remember are Tim Burton's
This movie is so underrated
O Johnny Depp é um grande ator, eu simplesmente amo esse filme.
This movie needs a remake, this is so great.
Been a fan for decades one of his best movies.
I truly believe that is is Tim Burton’s most underrated film. Can’t wait to finish my Ichabod Crane cosplay! 🎃
One of the Greatest Horror Films Tim Burton has ever directed!

here's something odd about the movie, Cristina Ricci was 19 and Johnny Depp was 36 oh my god.

Back when trailers were edited so they gave nothing away. Awesome. 👍❤
