Neal Morse is one of the true greats of the prog rock genre, an amazing singer, musician, composer and an unbelievable multi-instrumentalist. I've seen him many times with his own band, with Transatlantic and with Flying Colors, I had the great honour of seeing him perform solo in London a couple of years ago and it was a fantastic experience, it was even more special that I got to meet him after the show and have a picture with him. He is a true first class act. Awesome interview and really happy that we're getting a new Transatlantic album very soon.
Neal and his output are fairly recent discoveries, not even 2 years. Records like Snow, V, Bridge Across Forever, The Light, Testimony, The Whirlwind, Beware of Darkness, The Similitude of a Dream. For crying out loud, was I like dead or in a coma for so many years?😭
Im feeling the same, being a prog rock fan for almost 13 years, never give Neal morse a chance. This week I give him a try, and damn, he is an amazing songwritter, and has been involved in so many projects and great albums. I´m so excited in listening to more of his music
A shame that it's coming out AFTER Christmas, though. I was hoping for an October or November release date. Sola Gratia probably pushed back the schedule for TA5 since Rich is mixing both.
Neal Morse is, to me, the greatest songwriter of our age, especially in the prog rock arena. It's a crime that he is not more well known and appreciated. he's never made a bad record and nobody writes those long prrog epics like he does. The way he weaves themes together is uncanny. If you've never listened to his music, you owe it to yourself to check out any of his projects.
Great interview! Wish it were longer. But I do want to thank Neal for taking time out of his day to speak with all of us in the Sea Of Tranquility family. Always a class act. Thank you, Pete, for reaching out to all of these great creators of epic music and hosting them on your channel.
Spocks Beard kept me sane in a sea of kid boppers rubbish. For me, they kept the "P Word" alive in the 90s and the early 00s. Now, Neo Prog is becoming more and more popular and with a massive back catalogue of original Prog still available, I can breathe again! Well done Neal and the rest!
Back in the 1999-2001 era, I played guitar in a prog band in Pittsburgh called "Four Left Standing." We opened for Spock's Beard at the Graffiti Lounge and actually played a Spock's Beard tune while the guys from Spock's Beard were watching us. After the show they complimented us on our version of "Beware of Darkness." We hung out with them for a bit--they were really nice and fun to spend a little time with. And that show was the last show ever at Graffiti before they closed their doors for good. That club had been a mainstay for years in Pittsburgh.
Hi Pete! Hi Neal, god bless you, i love all you've done in your career and i wanna say thank you for it, and for accepting Pete to have you on here. :)
I was at that first Nearfest! One thing I remember is how most of the audience just went nuts when Spock's Beard came on and played. It was a really great performance. Transatlantic was very good at Nearfest in 2000 also.
WoW what a fantastic interview Pete I love Neil morse I’m so excited about new album covers can’t wait 😊 new album from transatlantic I’m so happy 😀 and new solo album too fucking awesome Neil morse legend that interview very interesting keep up the suprises from these great musicians 👍
Covers, Solo and transatlantic all within 6 mos! Neal's working. Great interview! I think Neal is one of the greatest writers during the rock era. TSOAD , Quadraphenia and the wall are the greatest rock albums IMO.
Pete Pardo remarks to Neal at the end, "You are an absolute treasure to all of us!" I can't think of any words that top that.......Neal you are a "great treasure" to all of us :)
One of my favourite parts of Sea of Tranquility, is Pete's top notch presentations of the top artists in the business. Can't wait for the Jasun Tipton interview, as to me Dark Deceiver is up there with any of the Symphony X, Dream Theater catalogue . 👍
Found Spocks beard, through Pete... now investigating neals other ventures.... it’s like a door has opened to an alternate universe!!! Thanks Pete... Thanks Neal🎶❤️🔥🙏
Thanks Pete. Great interview. You continue to bring on terrific guests for interviews. I enjoy Spock's Beard and will begin to listen to Transatlantic and Flying Colours. You have a great channel
It was well said about these current riots. In Finland there has been BLM riots too and some people have even attacked building to resist racism. In fact, there's very little racism in Finland and there's no signs of policemen being racist. Well, current issues have made police to ge interested of white people's crimes more than black people's. It may sound strange but the things are so anti-racist here that we cannot have much critic about certain groups - so we are losing our freedom of speech. We shouldn't break the law - Jesus didn't break the law and Bible says we should have respect on authorities. That doesn't mean we should do something which is against God's will - for example have a false testimony if a policeman encourages us. Wise words. The Bible have lots of good advice. I can recommend. It has much depth. Often people have wrong assumptions about God's word but it's a love letter from God, guiding us to love each others. "Sola Gratia" is good but not one of his best albums. I've listened to it twice. Hopefully we get a review soon.

The Whirlwind is one of the great modern prog albums

Like most of us, without a channel like SOT, none of this great music would've been found.
Thank you Pete and Neil

I knew they were in the studio, but to hear the man himself confirm Transatlantic 5...Christmas came early!

@@MarkyMarc413 Yeah, agreed. It would have been cool to see a holiday release.

nice!
Neal, awesome Christian based lyrics that appeal to, and maybe have a heart shaping affect on even secular audiences.
What is the title of the new prog album again? I didn't understand what he said.
The first Cover To Cover is awesome! Second one Cover 2 Cover is nearly as great. All the damn time.
Big
Pete dropped the "damn" from "here on youtube all the damn time" for one of music's most famous religious followers. ;)
Nice! This guy played some great guitar when he was with Kansas.
