Transaction costs are important to consider. The comic store will not give you list value for your book or you have to go through the hassle of selling yourself. I have a collection and storing the books becomes a hassle, if I didn't love them I wouldnt want them taking so much space for an investment.

Certain comic titles (Spawn #1, X-Men# 1, X-Force #1, Superman #75, Spider-Man #1, etc) from the 1990s sold millions of copies. We are nowhere near that type of market today, the last comic to break 1 million copies was Star Wars #1 from 2015.
