The record label wanted her to create a love song because they thought it would sell. She didn’t want to write one as that was not what she was feeling at the time. She was being pressured into it. Eventually she created this song. If you listen to the lyrics most people assume she is referring to a guy, but she is actually talking to her record label. The music video is symbolic of this. People come in and put money in the jukebox to make her sing love songs. She doesn’t want to so breaks the machine and confronts the store owner which is like what she didn’t in real life. She didn’t want to sing a love song and she confronted her record label. This is also why they use this song in glee after the refusal to do the nude scene. Essential it is the same story. The industry wanted her to do the nude scene and she refused. The scene is basically the female glee characters saying they aren’t just going to comply with the industry norms. They will stand up for themselves.

You should totally do a voice evaluation series! One person I would suggest checking out is the voice evaluation of Luke Hemmings from the band 5 Seconds of Summer. This band had went through so many different eras and through that it forced its lead singer (Luke Hemmings) to change vocally and lyrically as well.
If you do that with following a singers career, you REALLY should do Demi Lovato, she has had so many different eras of her music and she just keeps improving and it's so crazy

He should have won American Idol.

I agree with you except for Gloria. If you are comparing the original singer solely to Lea, I concur that it is a tie. Both are very good. If you include Naya and Adam, I feel that Glee version easily wins.

You should do evolution of voice for Madonna. When she started out they called her Minnie Mouse on helium. Fast forward to Like a prayer, Sondheim from Dick Tracy, Evita, Ray of light….her voice evolved a lot. And her live performances definitely show that from early years to the present.

i have never understood why Let Me Love You was a club song and not a ballad. Like you said, listen to the lyrics! Also, I think Naya's version of Mine would have been more her style if she sang it the original way - happy. Her version was sad and subdued, so she went soft and Tay-Tay like.

Adam Lambert (Star Child) was fantastic singing Marry the Night. Auditioning to join the group Kurt, Rachel, and Santana (or Demi Lavato's character) were forming. Kurt was jealous like Rachel was of Santana when the latter sang Rain On My Parade. Not as funny when it was Kurt. Adam shows how he ended up taking Freddy Mercury's place in Queen. He should have won American Idol.

I am a Taylor Swift fan. Just need that out of the way, I think seeing her music in a tv show where it has been picked to fit the themes of the show really add something to it.
