Yea... see this is why when he asked if we were cool if he DIDN'T do that we were all just like.. "nay man, understandable..." he's been at this for SOOO long and he's up to 25k tiles. With the scaling he'd be at like half that it would just be agony for no reason, RNG is merciless enough
@@nonaG123 Should have reverse scaled, no reason the first several tiles should have cost 1000 xp.
Coupled with a less ambitious goal, it probably would have been a better series.
The gimmick has felt dead since Zulrah.

@@bruensclancp1996 I very much doubt you truly disagree. The series is good because he's a good creator and knows how to make anything seem hype. That doesn't mean the gimmick is particularly good late into the series. The gimmick was at its peak in the first few episodes, when the challenges were things like "I literally do not have access to a tree" and "it would be cool to have anything at all for this armor slot".
At this point in the challenge, he's literally doing the most tile intensive quest in the entire game, so the limit has very little meaning. He has access to a ton of the game, far more than Swampletics had, and in fact the only real limit he has is that he has to grind XP between doing things that are interesting to watch. The only limit is if he wants to spend dozens or hundreds of hours of IRL time to "unlock" content, something the viewer only gets a short montage of.
Like, the impact the tile gimmick has in this episode is that we get a few more large timeskips of grinding XP, and he loses small amounts of progress on things like agility checks failing.
The build up to this quest has taken so long that to finally see it become a reality is so immensely satisfying.

You coulda save a couple hundred tiles on the Dusty Key. There's a spawn on the ground near the baby blue dragons.
He also could've done Guardians of the rift. Gets a bunch of tiles, get a catalytic talisman

1. You can use a lunar staff as a dramen staff for fairy rings.
2. You can reanimate ensouled heads right after you get the drop if you bring the runes.
3. Dagannoths drop cadantine seeds at 1/239.7 rate.
There is a dusty key spawn by the baby blue dragons in that dungeon and you could have grinded the temple of the eye minigame for a catalytic talisman to use instead of a death talisman

My least favorite part of this series is that it’s an UIM. I feel like the challenge is already exciting and challenging enough without adding the UIM restrictions. I think it just hurts the amount of progress and content you can make.

If you're able to bring the Arceuus spellbook with you on slayer tasks that drop ensouled heads, you can instantly reaninate them when they're initially dropped, saving you the need to take a trip back to the Dark Altar.

You could use a Catalytic Talisman from Guardians of the Rift and it counts as a death talisman instead of getting items for the dwarf
Or buy the death talisman for abyssal pearls from Guardians of the Rift.

A little late but maybe this will help other ironman out, a catalytic talisman from the guardians of the rift rewards allows entrance into the death alter so you dont have to get 50 items, that's how I got into it a couple weeks ago on my gimp.
I really appreciate that settled tries to keep the tile unlocks close to the needed tiles, and that he hasn't just banked 10s of thousands from easy 99s. Makes the series way more interesting to watch
The run to get the Dusty key was painful when the spawn is so much closer by the lava :(

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm surprised he didn't just do the quest for GoTR and do the minigame for death talisman. I feel like it would have saved a good bit of tiles. It's a bit of a grind (but that's what Settled is all about)

For ME2, you no longer need death talisman. You can use Catalytic Talisman from GOTR.

I wonder if just doing temple of the eye and guardians of the rift for a catalytic talisman would have been more tile efficient than going to get that key. I can't remember how far in that direction this account has gotten.
It definitely would've been fewer tiles, and a great source of runes for the magic grind, but hindsight is 20/20.
Yup definitely would have been the better play, leveling up RC would have basically payed for any tiles used in the quest/minigame

Best OSRS content creator out there. But this series is just afk skill simulator before doing the actual goal, it's really not that different than any other UIM content once you start getting tiles. Don't have enough tiles for SoTE? Just afk sand crabs or fish/cook. This series should be doing the inferno in as few tiles as possible imo

Given how little motivation I have in returning to RuneScape, the series has been quite cathartic. Keep up the hard work! Looking forward to seeing this series come to a finale.
I agree with others, you should have gone for Guardians of the Rift for the death alter. Isn't the point of this account to have a restriction that breeds creativity? This episode felt like a normal UIM with occasional random grinds.
I'm still having fun with this series but it's starting to feel like the tile restriction is more of a flavorful gimmick and less of an actual restriction. When you can brute force anything by grinding for a few hours it doesn't really feel like there's any point to the challenge - you're essentially just playing the game normally but you need to stop to grind every once in a while. Again the series is still fun and I like it, but there's increasingly fewer things that feel like they require a clever workaround rather than just doing it the intended way, which makes it not feel like much of a challenge run.
This was the most brilliantly boring beginning before thee most magnificent middling mind monstrosity that came before the best hanging cliffhanger ever. Well done, @Settledrs but we all know this wasn't the video we have all been waiting for.
When I was younger I used to play a game called tileman with my uncle Jim, if I stepped on the wrong tile he would bend me over and split me open like a coconut!! Oooh! Fun times with my uncle

Surely Guardians of the rift would have been an overall better investment for the death tali, get RC xp to refund tiles, stock up on a ton of runes for magic levels and teleports, youd at least break even even if it took a few days longer

@Settled, you can set Runelite shift click on prayer pots to "use" instead of drop. It will save you some time and be better for your hands!

It's almost nice to see you have to theory craft to get more tiles, takes me back to those first few episodes where you struggled to get just a few, crucial tiles.

I'm not sure if it was easier, but spending only a few tiles to unlock Guardians of the Rift and going for a catalytic talisman might have been my chosen way to get into the death altar.

I thought this series was over but Settled came in and reminded us what this channel is all about. A 5 month grind Jesus Christ.
It's very impressive to me that a OSRS RUclips account is able to get so many ad sponsors consistently for each video upload. I've seen RUclipsrs with triple the amount of subs and views not even get half the amount of sponsors as settled does. Also on top of that he makes his ads just as enjoyable to watch as someone like internet historian. I never want to skip the ads on settleds account because they're just so gosh darn entertaining. Please never stop uploading OSRS videos because I don't have the time or patience to actually play the game anymore but watching you play is a lot like playing the game for me. I imagine your characters are my own and I get excited everytime you achieve a goal or get a lucky loot drop and my heart skips a beat everytime something bad happens lbvs.😂 I love how dedicated you are to your vids because if I died and lost all my valuable loot I would damn near give up on playing but you just keep on pushing through no matter what. Your content is very inspiring to someone and shows that no matter what you should keep trying and pushing through even through the tough times because you will always find success in the end. That's why you've created such a strong and loyal fan base because everyone sees how hard you work and how far dedication will get you. You're a great man settled and I hope you will continue to grow as a RUclipsr. Something about your videos reminds me of the purity and how much you love to do what you do in your vids like someone like old Pewdiepie vids used to be like (Pewdiepie is still a great RUclipsr but you capture his beginner status of loving to be a RUclipsr was like in the beginning).
