Bravo Roman and Marco! Finally, giving Greubel Forsey (GF) some much deserved shine. GF is my favorite brand and my first GF happened to be sourced and delivered to me by Luxury Bazaar. To this day, it is my favorite watch that I will never be able to thank Ana and Roman enough for. Keep the great content coming, I really enjoyed this episode.

Two comments if I may: Greubel Forsey's total number of employees is around 100-150, not 1,000. Also, I am almost certain that FPJ produces its CB dial in house and does not share the production factory with Richemont based VC.
Yes I was being sarcastic regarding how many employees Greubel Forsey has. They currently employ about 150 people. Regarding the Overseas blue dial, it's pretty well known they source it from the same factory 👍

Question on the finishing of watches - are you comparing/looking at what you can see with the naked eye or under a scope and are you also looking at how it feels to the touch.
Talking about the different finishing techniques you can find on a watch's case, movement dial and most prominently on a watch's movement that can be seen with the naked eye 👍

These 3 brands, the "holy trinity" AP, PP, VC, have earned their place as top tier watches. Complications, history, ect. aside, if there is somebody interested in these watches they should buy them now while they can be had at a reasonable price. the position of "the father" in the Holy Trinity is Vacheron Constantin .... almost 100 years more history than the others and an objectively more rare and better watch. And btw, fact check.. the blue dial on the VC isn't made by Les Cadraniers de Genève SA (co-owned by FP Journe, and VC) but rather inhouse using similar process... I have this by email from the source. Also, VC (due to the requirement of the Geneva Seal), has more hand finishing on their "lower end" movements and cases/bracelets than does AP and PP, which use machine finishes in a lot of areas, namely englage ..
For me Bregeut is so overlooked in the top swiss category. You guys even talk about JLC, but Bregeut always gets overlooked, and they are almost as old as VC (20 year older, beginning 1775). Loads of historic and royal customers like Napoleon and Marie Antoinette.

This format is very similar to Watches & Whiskey without the whiskey of course. Hopefully Roman will keep doing these type of episodes.
Vacheron movement is the nicest, but the bracelet is the worst. The Bezel doesn't pop, and because there are no details on the dial, when I look at it, usually i just see the reflection of the smudges and finger prints on the sapphire glass. Royal Oak has the nicest bling, but is quite rough to tough, very industrial. Nautilus is super silky and classy, not too big. Easily the winner.

Blancpain is older than all three and have a strong history in watchmaking
So while Blancpain may be older, I do know they had a point in their history where they stopped making watches before Jean-Claude Biver bought the rights to the Blancpain name. While I do appreciate their watches, they simply aren't on the level of Patek, AP or VC. But fantastic watches nonetheless 😁🙌
GF retail is justified, especially when you compare it to something like an RM which is not in my opinion.
I tend to agree.. the level of detail, execution and innovation no doubt justifies their retail price in my opinion! 😁🙌

Without being a big connoisseur of watches, I thought Teddy Baldassarre was the Alex P. Keaton (the nerdy character played by Michael J. Fox in the popular 80s sitcom ''Family Ties'') of the world of watches. I now stand corrected: Marco is DEFINITELY the Alex P. Keaton of watches! Nor does Roman give his place as a ''mad scientist'' of watches... A question now awaits an answer: when will we be entitled to a long and fascinating horological discussion between Marco, Teddy and Roman? Imagine cloning Alex P Keaton three times and sitting them together to chat about watches! C'mon, isn't that a tantalizing prospect?
It would be cool to see Roman & Teddy meet at a boutique in Philadelphia or New York City to buy a collection. Similar to the previous challenges Teddy did with Kevin O'Leary and Producer Michael recently.

I’d have a GF anytime if I had the choice, or a Dufour, Voutlinainen over an AP, PP or should I say the sports cliche models that people who don’t really have any interest in horology have bought up over the last few years to a point earlier this year where the bubble burst.
GF to me very well may very well make the best watches in the industry 😁🙌

It's Patek and VC for. AP has become the Cristal of watches.
Interesting enough, many in the watch industry don't think AP should be part of the Holy Trinity given they are so dependent on the Royal Oak. Breguet & JLC brands come up as brand name replacements.
I understand where you are coming from but still think AP belongs in the Holy Trinity given their watchmaking ability and given their history. Sure they may be the so called "Royal Oak company" but the Royal Oak just happens to be the greatest blank canvas in watchmaking history. The technical prowess of AP is still no doubt there in my opinion 😁🙌
@@dannysimenauer5745 I don't think Breguet is fair given they were originally established in France. JLC does however have the pedigree and merits to be in the Holy Trinity given their history and their incredible achievements. However, I think what takes them out of the discussion is their entry level watches especially which are mostly machine finished and not to mention they simply don't have the brand name or equity like Audemars Piguet does. So for those reasons alone I think AP still does belong in the Holy Trinity, not to mention the fact that they have tremendous technical watchmaking prowess at AP! 😁🙌
