Angela, thank you for taking us along on your walk. I enjoyed that a lot, I have trouble walking because my feet fall asleep so in my mind I'm walking along with you. I love when you show the animals, wish I could have a little farm but my health won't allow it.

My only experience with farm animals is when I lived with my grandfather. His words would have been, "If that damn duck has any sense she'll get hungry and eat. Can't make her."

Thanks for the tour. Gosh you have taken on a lot. It will be good when your family arrives so you will have emotional support even just to talk about your farm family and support your decisions about their care. My husband use to say "There is always room for one more" and I can tell that is where your heart is. Take care. This world needs more folks like you.

Thanks for taking us along for that beautiful walk Angela. I needed that. Plus seeing the goats, your colourful hens and roosters and of course very sweet, loyal Grandpa. I miss our farm back in Alberta. Used to go for walks in the fields with our dog, sometimes the cat would follow just like Grandpa or I’d ride my horse in the fields and over the hills with our dog following. Those days are long gone. I can’t sleep. My Neurosurgeon called 2 days ago! Told me a long stretch of OR time suddenly opened up and I can finally have my 8-10 hr. major back surgery on Nov. 12!! I was originally booked to have it last Sept.,2023 but kept getting bumped. So I’ve been waiting over a year. This surgery can take 1 1/2 to 2 years to recover from - that’s if everything goes well. It’s definitely not a walk in the park. I know what I will be going thru because I had a similar back surgery in 2007. The long recovery and pain is horrendous and that was back when the doctor was allowed to prescribe strong pain meds to help manage. This coming surgery is nearly 3 times what the first surgery was. I hope I’m strong enough to handle it and that I will be able to walk again. So I’m scared and worried. I’m going to be taking this walk with you many times. It was so enjoyable and calming. Thank you. Sorry, I didn’t mean to get into all that but can’t sleep. Now, Tina looks like such a sweet girl but maybe timid, definitely bewildered and wondering where she is. I love her soft blended coloring. Very pretty. It’s going to take a bit of time for Tina to feel safe and relax in her new home. That was a good idea of yours to separate Donald from her right now. You know what he wants😉. All his hissing and wagging his tail means he’s excited. Lol. I don’t think you have to put him in the barn. Tina will soon realize that he can’t get close to her. Did you happen to get some of her specific food that she was used to from her previous home? Or is it the same as yours? Do you have water in a black rubber tub or similar in with her so she can stick her head into and be able to wash her eyes? Muscovy ducks usually keep to themselves. They don’t freely mix with other types of ducks. I raised quite a few different breeds of ducks besides all our other types of birds. The Muscovy ducks swam and ate with the other types, never bred with them and always liked to hang out separate from them - usually perched on top of the fence or on a roof or going on their patrols - walking along, bobbing their heads, wig-wagging their tails and hissing (talking) to each other. We used to say they were the busybodies and the gossipers of the pond and the barnyard.😂 They were great egg producers and fantastic mothers. Do you know if Tina was born with her angel wing or is it from an injury? It looked like the wing is turned or reversed at that joint? I’m wondering if her breast/shoulder on that side is not as developed in muscle, ligaments as her good side? Could make her not as balanced or sturdy on that side? Or with the wing sticking out - could unbalance her and make her feel not as confident around Donald and Daisy. I think, basically you have to give her time in her new home. We only had one duck - a female Rouen that ended up with her wing broken like Tina’s. We were never sure how it happened but thought maybe a male, trying to mate, had cornered her in a spot that her wing bent or caught on something? Because it was a fresh injury, I taped her wing back into position and into a sling, adjusting it periodically. It ended up better than when freshly broken but still stuck out a bit. She could still shake out that wing but sometimes after doing that, the wing would hang lower. I would then lift it back into position. I worried about her swimming in the pond and that the males like to mate in the water but she managed ok. It may take a couple of weeks or so for Tina to adjust. Could pick some dandelion leaves/flowers to give her as treats. That’s if they haven’t died back for winter. Good luck with Tina. Let us know how she is adapting. Thanks Angela!!

I don't know what happened to her wing I did have her on the same food but now I have her on a special mix for roster and ducks
she is ok with Daisy but not Donald so I have him and Daisy with the hens and Tina is with the rosters she seems to really like them and they are so nice to her
I don't know how long but I will let Tina pick when she wants them back
I hope everything with your heath goes well and I think you are strong and you can get though whatever life throws at you

No advice on Tina as I know nothing about ducks, but is her wing alright? It seemed to be at a funny angle. And how on earth does Grandpa not chase all those chickens!! He is just like a dog hahaha
