They should cut anything with hair. I've cut my own hair. You just have to be careful of your ears because anything that can fit between those teeth is getting cut!
Look at those taped fingers and arm muscles. This guy doesn't sit on the couch watching soaps. I started to shear yesterday and I have issues often when I do. Sometimes I don't and they cut like butter. Didn't work well this time and only got one half done when I figured I'd better do some research! Ha. The shears were having to be pushed through the wool and not comfortable for the 4 month old lamb. I'll try again ....in 40 yrs! ha. No, one day next week. Ugh. Thanks for your help.
Something heavier would be better. The thicker it is the longer it lasts. Bar and chain oil is really good but just any kind of motor. Oil is ideal. But wd-40 is definitely better than nothing
@@Followmeimblind I heard people using diesel? Besides that, can you sharpen the knives by using sand paper and a mirror. Someone told me that, but I didn't try to do it myself....
@@vaw7016 maybe Diesel would work... I've never heard of it myself. I know oil works though. The blades are really tricky to get sharp. And it's relatively simple and cheap to get a old shearing wheel somewhere. I would recommend grinding them that way at least to start. They're so hard to get right. So I wouldn't make it any harder.
Yeah, it's definitely possible. It's NOT going to be fun for you! There's a huge learning curve! But if you have a strong back and some stick-to-itiveness you should be done in a couple weeks!
You should be able to get a cheap electric clipper for around $30. (U.s. dollars) Then I'd get 5 flare 13 tooth combs. And 10 cutters. Should be able to find the combs for $15 and cutters for $3 apiece. When you're just starting you'll dull them very quickly (you might get 5 if you're lucky) so you'll have to find a sheep shearer to sharpen for you or mail them somewhere.

Hi mate i have around 200 sheeps and budget of 250-300AUD so my question is can i find a shearing machine for that price and shear the sheeps ?
