You can then extend him after Jan 1 on a lower long-term deal. Even if Chicago matches, it's only a 1-year deal so he might become UFA next year.

I think you should scout cummins before the interviews. You need to know his potential. Imagine you win the lottery & dont know his potential. Just relocate 1 scout for just a couple weeks and scout this guy, its not worth messing around with.

He has way too much trade value and is able to trade multiple elite potential prospects every year without sacrificing his future. He is snowballing his value every single draft. Overall, Johnny's trades have been fair and this series has been very entertaining but the scouting overpowered, he cant get elite potential players from the 1-5th round every single year.
Johnny, in the Extension category if it says “NO” it means they don’t want one. Which means if you offer and it’s not what they want, they will decline and then when you go to try again they want WAYYY more money. It doesn’t mean that they are going to be a good player
Johnny all those LD available in the draft are perfect to run your second D pairing for future or possible Kurtz partner with Valiquette moving down. Lots of value in top of draft.

If Utah doesn't play Hynes, it will make no sense. Sure, you traded for Demko to support and give some advice to the youngster but he EARNED the right to play playoffs. It is important to give these young players a solid chance as if you are playing Carkner and Tukonen in playoffs, why wouldn't you give the same chance for Hynes. Demko can be a backup.

John you’re never beating the allegation of screwing over the Ottawa Senators. The EA engine sim in Franchise gives the priority to UFAs because RFAs can still be signed. If you go back to before the Draft and just auto sim to see the Sens with Vish theyll be way better than they are now. You shouldve at least had to eat the contract of the terrible goalie they have if you wanted to make the trade
I know you want Tamelin in net for OT but i think Demko has to be backup just in case of injury or if the goalie gets pulled. Tamelin we already saw how many goals he gives up in the real time sim. That could be the difference in a series. Plus you gave up a medium elite potential to get Demko, at least use him as a backup!

Anytime you trade someone in the starting lineup at the deadline it changes your lines. If they’re scratched it won’t.
