What is the benefit and point of meditation? Improving life? Taken from a nihilistic standpoint it all seems pointless anyways. Unless meditation or the art of doing nothing and breathing is giving joy and insights... Hmmmm
What if you take it from no-standpoint? No interpretations, no judgments nor labels - what does meditation become then? Meditation has "benefits", of course - if it just felt awful we'd hardly find the motivation to do it. But, "[meditation] is good for nothing", as (I think it was) Kodo Sawaki Roshi said. Until it's approached with this attitude, of no expectations, it's really good for nothing.

Perhaps the same or off topic but self help books is like the snake that eats its own tail, want to become better by reading a view of the world, if taken over, you choose it, if not, it remains a fiction book. However, you can also choose to be better, but then the question is, what is better? In the same aim of meditation, just be... Now I am lost haha
@@yoepv8800 silence clarifies things, language by its way of functioning has to define things that aren't separate as separate, that aren't "real" (having an essence) as "real" etc. The more we think about it, the more confusing it gets, because the thing that's doing the thinking (the agglomeration of skandhas we call "ego") is what muddies the waters to begin with
